Crash (I) (2004)
wow...
23 May 2005
I saw this intriguing drama this weekend and thought it was really, really great. Everything was so true to life (the way we are all racist in some way, the way we all have good qualities and the way we can come together and push each other apart). It was very thought provoking. Was totally into it the entire time. Matt Dillon, Ryan Phillippe, Thandie Newton, the guy from Ray, and every other actor gave some incredible performances... Writing was amazing. So was the directing. It all weaved and came together so nicely. Tons and tons of conflict throughout. My favorite film of the year so far. Paul Haggis is the real deal... Million Dollar Baby was no fluke.

Cool Independent film.

Ordered this cool movie from Netflix and was totally into it. Originally, I got it when I saw that it was one of the first films that Steve Braun was in. He's such a great actor. I loved him in The Trip. He reminds of a young James Dean, especially his look. Anyway, he was really solid in this movie too, and is surrounded by a hilarious cast. The guys playing Sammy and Lou are funny as hell. As are the goons Vinnie and Gino. They're all total hustlers and if you like movies like The Sting and Ocean's Eleven, you might like this one. Tons of good cons... You can even learn how to get you and your friends into a movie for free! Not the best ever, but definitely a cool film.

Breakin' (1984)

pop and lock.

A true b-movie classic... pop and lock it, baby. Everything about this movie is funny watching it today. The wardrobes are awesome. They're so bad that they're good. The acting is so stilted and straight that you can't help but dig it, and the storyline is very predictable, but somehow does the job, and gets you to remain interested in the story in a 80's kind of way. This whole film is almost camp now. But the Break dancing is off the chain... Breaking 2 - Electric Boogaloo is even better! I'm surprised movies used to be this simple? Amazing how times and movies change, seems like usually for the better if you're looking at it from a modern sensibility. It's dated, but totally cool and fun to watch with friends...
