Ricky Gervais: SuperNature (2022 TV Special)

Brave and funny
26 May 2022
In an era where social justice warriors are running wild and cancelling people left and right, Ricky bravely stands against all that nonsense.

I not only liked his jokes but also his realism he relentlessly slapped on the face of people who get offended by the slightest breeze. Kudos, Ricky. Keep on doing what you are doing. Virtue signalling corporations are not in control, we, the viewers are.

Not Fargo
6 October 2020
This is not Fargo. It has nothing in common with Season 1 as far as the structure is concerned. Very disappointed. I won't be watching Season 4.

Unbearable
23 September 2020
The cinematography is overdone and looks ridiculous after a while. Also, why do we have to watch Jude Law's nostrils half of the time? The artsy fartsy shots were unbearable.

The story is a classic one but it could only be told this badly. The director has zero respect to the viewer and thinks he can throw anything, anytime onto the screen and get away with it. No, my friend, you can't.

I watched the first episode with patience, but couldn't finish the second one. Jude Law plays well, but he isn't enough to save the series.

Good movie, poor casting
6 July 2020
This is a captivating movie and Dafoe plays very well (Oscar nominee), but his casting was still not right. Dafoe is 63, yet Van Gogh was only 35-37 during that period. The difference is huge. Van Gogh was not a worn-out old painter. Yes, he was possibly slowly poisoned by all that absinthe and paint he consumed, but he shouldn't have any wrinkles or old men's feet. Van Gogh perception of the real world was probably symbolized by "half-clear half-blurry lens" shots, but honestly, it didn't look good on the screen. Other than that, the shots were spot on, the scenery was beatiful, the wind blowing through the fields was especially striking. Introducing us to the figures whom Vincent had drawn the portraits of, is a nice touch. 7/10

Just an eye candy
21 March 2020
Perfect cinematography, yet the plot is not a match. To be honest, I watched it solely for the light, shadows, colors and camera angles. One can almost feel that the director is getting lost in his own art. However, I couldn't quit because I was enjoying what I was seeing, not because the story was intriguing or interesting. If you like eye candy, don't miss it, but the storyline is mundanely simple.

Fantastic imagery
21 January 2019
Even though I am not a fan of the fantasy genre, I was captivated by the cinematography, the vivid images, the viewing angles, the color and the light... I simply could not turn it off. If you love eye-candy in a movie, you gotta see this. It's all well done.

Way too slow for an action movie
12 January 2019
For an action movie, it is very slow-paced. There are several totally unrelated scenes that could be left out. The story turns out to be not very interesting, and the scenes that are supposed to signal virtue are a borefest. Overall acting and cinematography were average. The action scenes were OK but still, they can't save the day. 4/10

Unnecessarily long
30 December 2018
I don't have any complaints other than the movie was too long and littered with unnecessary scenes. The Afro-American singer didn't have to sing so many songs for such long periods of time. I'm not here to watch a musical. The dialogue between the priest and the singer were so long and boring, I almost gave up. The same movie could be 1 hours and 30 minutes long and would be more fun to watch, too.

Poor acting, poor direction
22 October 2006
Warning: Spoilers
It's just the scenario that holds this piece together. Yet it's not enough. Even the cinematography didn't cut it.

After hearing much praise about this movie in Turkish media, I watched the movie with great expectations.

** Spoilers ahead *** The scene where the car hits the truck was pathetic. How expensive can it be to use a second hand car and give the audience a realistic accident? Mustafa's mother screams like mad while Mustafa is destroying her wife's sculptures. What kind of scream is that? WTF? It just doesn't fit in.

The scene where Mustafa is overtaking the fat lady is another comedy. Even though there's plenty of room, the witch keeps driving in the middle of the road and just won't let Mustafa drive by. Why? I have never came across to such dumb driving. It's not realistic at all.

What a waste of time. I see the high IMDb rating and laugh my back off! Nationalists at work, I guess. If this flick had been produced in USA, it would have a hard time to pass the 6.0 line.

Seconds class action...
16 May 2005
Warning: Spoilers
If you haven't seen this yet, I say just move on, take a walk in the park, don't waste your time. Neither the scenario nor the acting is worth your money. *Spoilers*- I can't decide which was worse: The movie itself or Baldwin's hairstyle? Ellen Pompeo's acting talent is very questionable I hope she can improve it over time. The storyline is just unbelievable. Loose cannon American cop fighting criminals in Europe on his own?? Infamous Slavic mafiosi protected by only two hunks??? An emotional art teacher leading a ruthless gang??? Spanish police executive dumber than a sack of hammers??? Give me a break. There's only one good thing about this movie, though: At least, the production costs must be lower than "Ocean's 12"'s which was as meaningless and over the top as this one.
