Highlander (1986)
As of 2023 it's showing it's age but still worth a look
I watched this soon after it's initial release when I found it to be a remarkable and enjoyable movie. So when I found it again I thought I have to watch this again. I enjoyed it the second time but my memory held it in higher esteem. One review suggested a remake. I wholeheartedly endorse that! Maybe the Star Wars team could do it. :D
The whole movie shows it's age and I will never understand how Sean Connery could be cast as an Egyptian in Scotland and while Christopher Lambert, an American plays a Scot whose accent fluctuates between several accents. He does a really good job in character but I think a Scottish highlander played by a Scotsman would have been far better.
Overall, it's still a pretty good movie.
Ted Lasso (2020)
Best Series I've seen in years!
The worst thing about this series is that it ended!!!
My family suggested I watch this after they all raved about it. Honestly, as I watched the first episode I was bemused by their accolades for it. The humour was nothing remarkable and the storyline and characters failed to impress but I persevered because they assured me it was brilliant and they all loved it.
So I did.
Then I became addicted and had to watch it every day.
The characters are well balanced and while stylized for a program they were real and engaged me at every turn. I was thrilled, angry, sad, excited and perplexed over and over again. It had me laughing and in tears ( My family said, "That's normal".)
It overflows with wisdom and life lessons (and a fair amount of swearing.)
I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone with a heart for comedy and a love of life.
As many have previously stated this is one of the best series I've ever watched.
65 (2023)
Entertaining Sci Fi but... (contains spoiler)
I found this movie kept me entertained and I did enjoy it. I thought the acting was pretty good but the dialogue and storyline left me wondering what could have been. I wouldn't watch a sequel or series if that happened.
So 65 million years ago just as an extinction level event on Earth, English speaking Astronaut finds himself right there, narrowly avoiding death at every turn against vicious and monstrous dinosaurs. He becomes severely injured yet incredibly able to survive attacks, falls, rocks falls, a meteorite shower and drowning. (After all it is a movie so I don't expect reality.
I'm glad I watched it and I'd recommend it if someone wanted something to pass the time.
Bolshoe puteshestvie. Spetsialnaya dostavka (2022)
Disappointing
I love bringing my grandchildren to the movies.
As this movie started I noticed the dialogue was far too mature for young children. The storyline contained political and adult (not sexual) content and the characters were poorly constructed. The storyline for me seems to have been arbitrarily made rather than well constructed . I should have read the negative reviews before bringing them.
I wouldn't recommend this at all. I wish I could go back in time and take the children to the park where they could have had a great day!!
Don't waste your time or money in this. I can't understand the positive reviews. They were possibly the creators.
Wolf Like Me (2022)
Just kept getting better but I want more!
Well scripted series with excellent acting and great directing. I really enjoyed this series and am looking forward to where the writers will take it in the next season. Good to see an Australian series so well made.
