Fa yeung nin wah (2000)
To married couples move in next door to each other at the same time. Mr. Chow and Mrs. Chan find out together that their spouses have been cheating on them with each other,
This romantic film is more like a tragedy in the eyes of any hopeless romantic. The solitude of both Mr. Chow and Mrs. Chan makes it inevitable for them to spend time with each other. Through their spouses affair, their solitude, their lust for each other, and their proximity all lead to them falling in love with each other. Not wanting to stoop down to the level of their spouses, they never consummate their love. They both feel trapped and daunted by the secrets they hold about each other, however, neither of them confront their spouse. What is it they fear? The recurring motif throughout the film is Mrs. Chan's qipao dresses. Every dress symbolized all the times that her and Mr. Chow ran into each other. They themselves had their own little illegitimate affair filled with innocence and sadness. Wong Kar-Wai, the director of this film chose for there not to be a happy ending in which they live together forever in happiness. Instead, the ending is a little ambiguous when Mr. Chow whispers his secret (their secret) in the Angkor Wat in Cambodia. In the end when he goes to visit her, he is told that a lady and her son live there now and this is the first time that they do not cross paths.
La otra conquista (1998)
This movie is set in the former Aztec empire in what is now Mexico. A young Aztec man becomes victim of Spanish conquest.
The character Topiltzin may be the literal meaning of a die-hard religious devote. HIs culture is his life and he dies fighting for his culture and dignity. Although many may feel he is foolish and should have just abide by the Spanish conqueror's requests. However, he was passionate about his own culture beliefs and practices which makes him a brave and valiant character. Fray Diego, Topiltzin's Christian converter uses passive aggressiveness to try to convert Topiltzin. Friar Diego is the symbol of the Christian religion that forced (passive aggressively) conversion of all indigenous people in the 16th century. Topiltzin and his brother represent all Aztec people who either fought for their culture or simply complied in order to stay alive.
Seppuku (1962)

Through Hanshiro's story telling, we are able to see the true meaning for why he is there; revenge for his lost family.
