Gaja Gamini (2000)
greatest art film India ever saw!
it has no story,no plot,it isn't a film either,it is a miniature of greatest artpieces togather. deeply symbolic, and highly aesthetic. no one can criticise it,if they watch it,not just through their eyes, but soul instead. it requires heavy knowledge and deep aesthetic ability to understand and interpret the symbolic scenes.u can understand it only if u lend your soul and watch it through eyes of the painter.choreography is outstanding and art direction is amazing.every aspect is perfect, it never appears to be shot or filmed, rather inscribed naturally out of memories. it took me several months to understand it partially, i bet no one even hussain himself could understand it completely, because it has multidimensions, some of which remain hidden every time, and thats the beauty and mystery of every great artpiece.since its not part of popcorn culture it is expected to be criticised by dumb, loud masses and classes even, because it is made only for artlovers.if u r not one don't watch it and die in darkness of ignorance away from beauty of life.it is the greatest art creation ever made on planet.
Incendies (2010)
two and two makes one?
set in the backdrop of war,it is amongst the few films, that leave u speechless with a heavy heart.multi faceted story, depicting different dimensions of war.different definations of just 1 relation, one dipped in hatred, other left to be discovered.marwan twins are handed with envelopes, when they find their mother dead in mysterious conditions.they r asked to deliver these envelopes,to their father and brother, far away from their knowledge.this search takes them back to their mothers root, and they discover a different, hidden phase of their mothers life.the women they knew, was not only a mere women, but a women whom tribe considered disgrace and other unknown truths about her life.performances are realistic, visuals are perfect, and story, screenplay goes beyond words.a simple mathematical relation can sum up this story.
Jai Ho (2014)
dumb and dumped
after along time salman arrives with something issue based, and have casted tabbu,as his sister, why? is she elder then salman?or they need only 20 year old girls to romance bulky, eye bagged salman?tabbu should not contribute in such dumb projects, even thespians like nadira babbar, give us shock, ensemble cast is full of uninspiring known dull faces, and story, screenplay is heavily overstyled, far far away from reality, single salman roaring enough to blow 100 mens in air, such scenes are heavy disappointment and raise questions of liability of our cinema, its not just a bad craft, indeed a caricature of bad cinema. even if does well on box office,it brings shame to makers abt their representation of corrupt society and how loosely they plotted it,utterly depressing adage on modern consumist society.
Dhoom:3 (2013)
no style,no glamour,no thrill
most awaited, when lands, hope rises on paramount level, but falls on seabed as we watch it, it begins with vast landscape, advanced camera-work,with sense of pride running for our Hindi films and it fades when we walk out of theaters with shrunken sizes, story is full of loopholes, like how aamir got his ancestral circus back from bank, how every time he manages to break in ,even when cops are aware of his theft, such a pity, that director vijay krishna acharya ,not even cares to build such details, did he assumed his audience to be silent lambs,or he simply thought they were morons?he is to be blamed!his story appears to be melodramatic ,as the only suspense burst out in midway, and after that u r left annoyed to sit teary eyed to appreciate love, and where r the bikes, chases, thefts, cops?gone to sleep? we wish we too? honestly they had everything, big banner, great technicians, but they went out on a holiday in chicago, and on their return, they made this film on the way!there are some good moments, but not enough to change your thoughts.performances are average and aamir appears misfit, and we remember our old hunks like john and hrithik, abhi and uday are watchable.forgot katrina?oh she is there, to woo audience in kamli, the saving grace, her role is minimal, and she fails again to impress us,lady change your ways, please . on the whole its not pleasing enough!
Gulaab Gang (2014)
intense and freshly entertaining.
gulaab gang is a commercial film, stated soumik sen,but yet it is still intelligent then silly blockbuster and more real to be called commercial, the most violent portrayal of women in Indian cinema, and goddess avatar of our superheroine madhuri dixit, and no way less devilicious chawla, who is tough to fight with.its not a MAIN HOO NAARI type preachy parable, but a social drama about rural women fighting not for liberalisation, but their existence indeed. its a shame that some male chauvinistic critics have shunned it, who could not digest womens performing hand to hand action sequences, music and background score is classical and folk, and is for different taste,if u r not fond of women centric films, still u can enjoy, bcoz madhuri n juhi r true heroes of GULAAB GANG.
