Not even Thor can salvage this...
27 April 2020
Visually nice, scriptwise... Oh, dear. Very good action scenes cannot make a good movie on their own. Thor's good looks weren't enough for me to get lost into the movie. I still needed a better script. 4/10

Too much for too long
7 February 2020
Entertaining for the most of its part, but it goes on too crazy for too long that it tires you out by the time you've reached the end. Had it been half an hour shorter it would have been more entertaining as a whole and it would have earned one more star.

Don't expect more than an action pop corn film with a crazy script that doesn't make sense. Then again that's what's going on with this franchise for a long time now. It's just that it used to be more fun back then...

Oh, how unreliable have ratings become...
23 January 2020
I came here after seeing a 7.8/10 rating. I watched a 5/10 show constantly expecting things to get better after episode 2-3 concerning what I've read in the comments.

Nope! This wasn't the case.

I like the idea. It isn't something new, but it also isn't something we're used to seeing often. But what can a good idea do, when the script is mediocre. Acting doesn't fall far from it, too. Mediocre most of the time with some exceptional moments, as well as some really bad ones.

Now, it isn't a toss. There are things to keep. But if my opinion counts, in case you watch it, do it along with something else. It isn't worth your full attention.

PS: If you watch, just know Jenn is the best thing that happened to the show.

The Morning Show: The Interview (2019)
Season 1, Episode 10

Now, this is how you end a season!!!
21 December 2019
The episode builds up minute after minute effortlessly. Fantastic direction and editing. Meaningful dialogues, a rollercoaster of emotions and a somewhat anticipated ending, but -and that's the whole beauty- without losing any of the power, meaning, suspense, emotion and fulfillment that a viewer should get from it. This is the TV we like. This is the quality of TV we need. Bravo!

There was something missing
20 November 2019
Such a beautiful story, but so many weird moments that felt as if the feelings weren't there or the chemistry wasn't there or the scene was forced. A missed opportunity maybe?

Renovating an inn is easier than renovating a script
30 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
With some of the worse written cheesy moments in rom com history, Falling Inn Love misses an opportunity of being a better kiwi themed, american style girl movie to watch on Sunday afternoons with a cup of hot coco. Or maybe it's me that I didn't fall for all that okay-ness let's say for example when somebody turns you down even though you flew miles and miles to see them. Gabriela's ex was definitely a no from the beginning -and possibly the one with the cheesiest acting mood- but still, "ok" and "I wish you the best" with a smile in a split second after "me no likey you mate"? Not even a second of "whaaat"? And that's just one scene of many screaming worse-than-just-lazy-writing. Although New Zealand and kiwis deserve a lot of stars, the movie has quite a few too-bad-to-make-it-into-the-final-cut moments to get even the average 5 stars. And do I have a soft spot when it comes to renovating -especially old inns- and the always spot on mixing the old with the new, but here there are just a few, easily spotted good moments and that's about it. To think when I read the sum I was "yay, a typical rom com about kiwis, not something you bump into everyday". 3/10

Genie wasn't enough to bring the magic
23 September 2019
The bluntest Jaffar you'll ever meet, an ok Aladdin and a princess who frequently overacts her emotions. It has some good moments and I like Will Smith's genie, but do we need to talk about that blue cgi? The carpet as always steels the show in every scene it's in and it's a good thing it doesn't talk, because those lines... I love Richie's work in general, but this time I felt awkward here and there. 5/10 for its good moments.

Baby Driver (2017)

If you are a music lover, it's your action film.
15 May 2019
A perfectly done combination of music and action, Baby Driver it's Edgar Wright's baby, as it was on the works for about two decades. I like his camera work and the long sequences are my favorite. Second act is a bit slower than the first and it kinda tones down the effect of the first act which is ka-boom! Still, a good, enjoyable movie with many well executed, fast paced action scenes. Bonus, it's full of good, really good music. Don's miss it! 8/10

It used to be better...
13 May 2019
Season 1 was a good start, with a nice script and mostly good performances. My first response to the show was 7/10. I'm going to leave it there, because it's worth watching, even if it's for this one season.

Season 2 halfway through seems to be too crowded with not so much character development for most of the characters and too obvious development for others. Seems more like a turkish soap opera most of the time. There are good turkish soap operas for people to watch if they want, this show didn't start as such, so I'm a bit disappointed of how it turned...

Impressive visuals are not so... impressive
16 April 2019
Stunning visuals, yet not so compelling storytelling. The moments that should have been captivating are close to boring, not having the impact the writer meant for them to have on the audience. It is the slow writing that creates the boredom in a movie that could have been half an hour and a couple of characters shorter to be more impressive. Less is more.

Grindelwald's crimes are not as horrific as the title lets the audience imagine. Yet. A glimpse of his crimes isn't enough to justify them being mentioned in the title. That being said "The rise of Grindelwald" or simply "Blood pact" would have been more appropriate titles.

Johnny Depp owns Grindelwald. His Grindelwald is as twisted, smart and manipulative as a dark wizard should be at a time of gathering followers.

Jude Law becomes Albus Dumbledore scene after scene and in the end he is as calm, afraid and driven as old Dumbledore was in Harry Potter. It's a pitty he didn't have more screentime, which he's going to get in the next installment, I have to believe.

Eddie Redmayne isn't given enough material to shine. Newt is helpless most of the time, bound to his feelings. I thought he was the star of the franchise, but in this movie he is not. He needs to do more than just tending his beasts and be awkward. Luna Lovegood was awkward, but she owned the place with her awkwardness. Newt needs more "owning" lines for Eddie Redmayne to deliver as he is able to.

There isn't enough room to talk about every important character in this movie as there isn't enough space for each one of them to flourish as they should. Neither for the main nor for the supportive. There are so many subplots in two hours time that it's easy to get lost in the translation. The paradox is that you don't get lost. Fact is, I remember all the subplots and all the characters. I just didn't have time to invest in all of them. Too many people in a story that could be told by less.

Come on Rowling, if you had the imagination to write Harry Potter, sure you can fix your pacing in storytelling for Fantastic Beasts. And get the titles matching with the context...

First season is the best
12 April 2019
I loved the show, but it became un-original and boring quicker than I expected. First season is the best. Not saying that the rest is bad, but there are moments I was hooked into it and other that I was struggling to stay awake. I won't change my rating, 8/10 still, but it goes to Season 1.

Touching Farewell to the Best Dragon Trilogy to Date!
10 April 2019
It gets a bit too slow in the middle act and the big moment seems too easy and happens quickly. The third act as an idea is really really touching. As a movie, it's the weakest part of the trilogy, but still strong. 8/10

Oh, Toothless, I haven't been a child for years now, but you kept me company for so many sad nights of my adulthood and you keep reminding me never to lose the child in me. Farewell to the most consistent animation trilogy ever!

Not Good, not bad either
8 April 2019
First half is a bit slow, second half flows better. I like where the skrull story went. There are a few too cheesy moments that seem a bit biased, mostly in scenes with Maria on Earth. I also didn't like Law's and Larson's chemistry. It seems as Larson is trying too much to not have expressions in many cases in their joint scenes, when Law makes it seem more natural and less stiff. Captain Marvel's big moment with her full power is a bit blunt. All in all it's an OK movie. I expected a better result, but it's not for the trash as many suggest. It's a 6/10 for me.

PS: It was promoted as the last step before Endgame and having heard so many times how powerful Captain Marvel is during 2018, I can safely say even if you skip it and go straight to Endgame, you want miss anything. You already know how powerful she is.

Well executed royal drama. 1st season a must-see, 2nd season a bit slow paced.
21 March 2019
It's a based-on-real-life-events fictional drama, well executed, with care for the details. It has a good flow of events in each episode, usually not overstaying in subplots. That's season 1.

2nd season runs a bit slower in pace and has a distinct change in tone which is not necessarily bad, but it most surely is dragged out in the second half of the season. Nevertheless, the show is a good one, so definitely give it a try.

Third season is on its way and I'm really curious in general to see how they are going to portray Diana's story when we come to that.

Aquaman (2018)

Patrick Wilson's villain steals the show. #not
19 March 2019
Although Momoa gives us a good Aquaman, Patrick Wilson gives us a (yawn) boring main antagonist. It's not his fault, but the lines he's given are painfully childish and one dimensional. Although there's improvement compared to other DCEU entries, childish style writing in some scenes is still one of the main problems in the DCEU. Manta's doing a better job as a villain, but he didn't exactly drew me in either. Still more complexity than Orm, for sure.

Now, the film's a bit allover the place at times, there are a bit too many subplots that are rushed in the the final act and a couple too-obvious-cliches we didn't need (but didn't hurt us either). Still as a whole it is more consistent and definitely more enjoyable and well executed than BvS and Justice League, so it's safe to say that DCEU is finding what it needs. I liked Heard's Mera, Kidman was also ok as Atlana, but I found Kidman's and Mr Curry's young selves awkward. Too awkward. I most definitely needed a bit de-aging effect.

A Discovery of Witches (2018–2022)

Had potential, but felt rushed and lacked necessary explaining.
14 November 2018
They missed important parts from the book. I know this sounds a clishe, but I've watched the series first and then read the book and then understood key points of the plot that were rushed if not even ignored in the series.

We know that the creative department always tweaks book stories, but, especially for a storyline that for its most part unravels in a three weeks time, the sub-stories of some characters stole time for the main characters to establish what's going on and their storyline felt more pushed than most of the Vampire romances I've ever watched. The sub-plot where fine, but didn't need that much time to be understood.

The series end differently from the book and I'm curious to see where they'll pick up the story in the second season, hoping that they'll make it more complete in terms of storytelling. This one definitely has "rushed" all over it, although it had a great potential due to the historical tone of the source material.

Stick with it. It pays off at the end.
7 November 2018
Just finished the first season and boy, the last two episodes reminded me of how I felt with SoA. It really pulled me in in the last two episodes of its first season. You have to watch the whole season to really get the meaning of it. It's a bit slower than SoA during the first 2/3 of the season, but it finishes strong.

EZ is evolving and trying to find his identity throughout the whole season. Things get even more complicated in the last two episodes not only for our main characters, but for us fans as well. Probably we won't know whom to root for in the second season. I really don't want to spoil anything, stick with it until the end and you'll be paid off.
