Isaura: Slave Girl (1976–1977)
10/10
Just yet another great blend of reality and Brazilian scripts.

I first watched this TELENOVELA in the late eighties (dopped in French) and couldn't bare but weep. I recently started watching a re-run (this time on the US-Mexican network: Telemundo) and still remember the story line like it was yesterday!, but what amazes me is how touched i still feel. Lucelio Santos, in my view, practically made Globo TV the power house it is today, with her amazing performance on this series. The expressions are amazingly real, not to mention the setting and script.

The portrayal of Brazil's economic and social stance is chronologically correct, compared to Brazils reality at the time (ie very little fiction is used) Of late ther's been another very similar telenovela (though a little more fictionalthan real) Terra Nostra

Homecoming (1996 TV Movie)
10/10
Very highly emotional

First great performance by entire crew: the acting is real. This movie is one of, not many titles that have gotten me to actually shed tears(alongside Esclava Isuara and Gracie's Choice)Emotions run from the first line to the last, via the theme songs, the settings etc...One particular scene that got me crazed was where Wendy is introduced to the movie: at first you fear its going to end up bad (molestation/rape stuff) but he successfully gets Dicey to thrust him, by relating to her issues...Bref, great movie....Its even more hurting when one realizes that this stuff is actually happening in real life, and not just in the poor second and third world countries, but even in great economies like the US', and the EEU.

Highly recommend.
