Wishbone (1995)
My Favorite Show Growing Up
Joe Talbot and his widowed mother Ellen live in a neighborhood in the town of Oakdale. Joe has a Jack Russel Terrier named was Wishbone who narrates the show and tells a well known story each episode that relates to what the characters are going through each episode with Wishbone playing characters in each story he tells. Each episode flashes back and forth between Wishbone's stories and the characters' situations.
Joe and his friends, Sam and David find themselves in situations each episode. Ellen's best friend and neighbor is Wanda Gilmore {Gilmore seems to be a popular name in television.} Wanda is obsessed with gardening and preserving the town's history and is the head of the Oakdale Historical Society. Her pet peeve is when Wishbone digs up her garden.
I was born the same year Wishbone first aired, but my sister watched it and as I got older I watched it. My favorite episode still to this day is when Joe, Sam and David save their favorite tree with a tire swing from a greedy developer and it becomes part of the park.
My cousin was in one of the episodes where she played a maid in one of the Wishbone stories, but I cannot reveal her name because she doesn't want me to.
If I could give 1,000,000 stars I would.
Sisters (2015)
Amy, Tina, and Maya Crack Me Up
Warning: Contains Spoilers
I love this movie! Love it! I'm a huge fan of 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation. Amy and Tina are funny apart, but even funnier together.
Amy Poehler and Tina Fey play Maura and Kate Ellis, sisters from Orlando. Both sisters are divorced and Kate (Fey) has a teenage daughter Hayley (Madison Davenport) who is ashamed of her mother's irresponsible and childish tendencies. Maura is told by her parents, played by Dianne Wiest and James Brolin that they are selling their childhood home. Maura and Kate both travel to Florida and Maura where Kate finds out about the house being sold. Kate then begins to throw a tantrum and scream certain words. Later, Kate gets the idea to have one last party in the home and Maura is reluctant at first but quickly wants in on it. The party is a dud at first, but after a heated speech from Kate, the party quickly gets wild and out of hand. Kate finds out that Maura has been letting Hayley stay with her in Atlanta. Kate and Maura get in a mud fight, which is broken up by their enraged parents who arrive at the house with Hayley. A sink hole caused by the overflowing pool forms and Hayley falls into it, but is saved by Kate. Kate and Maura, along with Hayley are tasked with cleaning up the house and Kate fixes the house up. Kate and Hayley move into a small house in Orlando and Kate opens her own salon and Maura ends up with her love interest James.
Meanwhile, Brinda (Maya Rudolph), Kate's high school nemesis who is now a realtor, is mad because she wasn't invited to the party and crashes it. Kate kicks her out and what does any immature 40 something do in an Amy Poehler and Tina Fey movie? She calls the police, but the police don't shut down the party. She sneaks back in and is immediately tricked outside by Kate, who once again locks the door. Brinda then puts blue paint into the water system, causing the pool water to turn blue. When Kate is trying to get everyone to leave after a conversation on the phone about how proud they are of her and want to buy her a house, Brinda shows up and cries like a 5 year old about how she never got to be a part of the parties in high school because Kate trash talked her. Brinda stands up for herself and enjoys the party. Later Brinda is given the job of selling Kate and Maura's house and Kate and Brinda become friends again.
I hope they make a sequel and add Melissa McCarthy. I'd love to see Amy Poehler and Tina Fey in a movie with Melissa McCarthy.
