Jo Koy: Live from the Los Angeles Forum (2022)
Unrequested Review
This is the same set he had when I saw him in Tampa! When I tell you it was my favorite comedy show I've ever seen in person or TV! I'm rewatching it and still laughing. (Not as much but I love seeing that he is using the same jokes he practiced and perfected on this Netflix special) I've been waiting to see if he did the same thing and now I can't wait for my dad to see it. He was talking directly to him for half the show!
When I tell you, live!, I was in tears yo! JoKoy is my favorite comedian right now and top % of all times. I can't think of my top 5 right now but I will find a way to put him in it. Because dude is incredible. I hate COVID jokes but he had some good ones! He is just hilarious.
Watch it! If you don't laugh, you're loss. He is funny as hell!
Meet Cute (2022)

Did you know this movie was out? Probably not, that's why I do this, to inform you and/or to save you some money.
This movie looked like a 2022 version of 50 first dates but it wasn't. It was a bit of a stalker movie, a creepy movie, a weird movie. If you had the best day of your life and you had the chance to repeat it, would you? How many times?
What didn't make sense to me is the girl wouldn't change what she did and what she did most the time was looking crazy! Why would you want to look crazy every time? The first time I'm sure she didn't look crazy... she would say stuff that made no sense.
Then the end was like, how can we end this movie and stop the groundhog day?
I like Pete, I like Cuoco, but this movie was forgettable, stupid and a waste of time. It wasn't cute... at any moment. It was super a bad version of a played out story.
Watch it if you want, tell me what you thought.
Hocus Pocus 2 (2022)

My son and I saw both movies because neither of us had seen either.
We were really into the first one and I LOVED this sequel. It did everything a good sequel should do! It felt like the 90s movie with better picture quality. Still had those practical looking effects mixed with CG, even though some looked obviously fake, it felt 90s. The jokes were shooting at such a rapid pace even if I didn't laugh at all of them it felt like it fit right into the originals playbook, which made me smile the whole time.
So many movies that pick up these old classics and try to recreate that "magic" end up failing. This one really didn't. The whole old characters seeing new modern technolog trope has been done millions of times, but it was still humorous here. If you look at one of the posters they dropped you can see what they use to fly now and it's really clever how they upgraded the "broomsticks". It's little things like that that really worked for me with this movie.
The ended the movie well where people won't be asking for a third film, but they kinda did keep it open for a spin-off series of sorts. Which I'm not too sure they will do. The movie had great closure, but also.... Money talks and if they can milk it, they probably will.
Watch until past the credits, fast forward or wait... extra scene at the very very very end.
Black Adam (2022)

This movie was so much better than I expected. I really didn't buy into the hype. I thought it was going to be a run of the mill, cliche fest except with the rock being the rock. It was in a way (it's a superhero action movie) but everything around it fit so well. The movie was LAUGH OUT LOUD funny multiple times. The action was in big, critics say they used the slow motion, but I think it just was to show how epic and the fine details of the shots. They have a fight in a kids fan room that's pretty damn epic. The only problem I saw with the CGI was when we see Rock before he became who he is. It looked weird even thought the deepfake didn't necessarily look fake. The movie had color, even though the last fight was the sepia, red and bronze color of most final fights in DC movies but it wasn't like that the whole film. The real life subliminal advertising was so obvious. It was Transformers level at the start of the movie, but that's to be expected with big budget films like this.
I don't follow Black Adam or comics too heavy, but the story and the way they made a predominantly Shazam bad guy become an antihero you rooted for without even mentioning Captain Marvel (Shazam) was creative. Imagine if every villain got a super hero movie (I like this one better than Venom, this could be a dope trend). I do wonder if they will have a battle with Shazam with how the end credit cutscene played out.
The movie was way better than I thought. I went in expecting a 6/10 or lower, but it's an easy 8 or more.
Oh, and it had my guy Mohammed Amer in it and he freaking killed it! Super funny.
Gordita Chronicles (2022)
The Spanish songs are from the 90s!
The show is based on the 80s but I was watching with my dad and he was like these songs are from the 90s. It's like did anyone who was involved in the show know Spanish music?
Spidey and His Amazing Friends (2021)
MARVEL PJ MASK
That's exactly what this is PJ Mask with a Spider-Man suit. Not saying it's bad, it's great and your kid may like it more if they already know marvel super heroes but it's super obvious. It's weird that miles goes by Spin and Gwen is ghost spider, I don't understand the reason for that but other than that you see green goblin and others. It's cute. I recommend it for kids 100%.
