The end
8 September 2014
Warning: Spoilers
With excitement i waited to see the final part of the Angelique adventures. But it was somewhat boring and for that is in the last place of the whole series. Having read the books, i know that it could have been easily full of action and the end itself should have been better. And what about their encounter with their children? If the director was not determined for movie to be all about harem, there was a place to make a decent end. Not everything should be left to one's imagination.

When I think about the movies as a whole, I really liked it and some actors were really, really good (f.e. Desgraz). Locations were beautiful and were, more or less, the same as I was imagining while reading the books. I think I will read the books again :)

Nothing can stop her
31 August 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Being on her way to find her husband, Angelique gets in in all kind of unpleasant and dangerous situations: going onto the sea, being captured, raped, sold on a market... The movie is certainly not lacking actions - but compared to the books, a lot is missing and is twisted so that near the end becomes unsatisfactory. But like it is with most of adaptations for the movies, one must cast aside the books and appreciate the movies for themselves.

The movie, as it was told, shows how slaves were in the past sold on the market and how humiliating that process was for them: being stripped off in front of a huge crowd, their teeth checked... We learn what was appreciated and what features brought a lot of money for their 'owners'. This is one of the best shots in the movie and Michele did it pretty well when it came down for showing emotions.

Part 3
24 August 2014
Warning: Spoilers
The third movie is definitely better than the second one. I love the scenes depicting the Versailles, vivid colors of splendid costumes, and that scene when Angelique rides at the beginning of the movie. Of course there are few scenes which I did like, f.i. black mass being held. But not because of the scene itself, but for the plot reasons. It could have been easily omitted but I guess it was done to explain the death of Barcarole (if i spelled correctly). And if I remember it right, Angelique and Joffrey did not meet again until on the boat much later, yet here we saw he rescued her but then escaped and then she goes in pursue of him. Overallm very enjoying!

Many plots

Warning: Spoilers
For those who have not read the books, second movie of the Angelique story could be a confusing one. I admit I would have been: so many things are going on, one after another and one could easily lost track of the time hat has passed between each of them. Fortunately there is help provided, at least at one time, where one could see what year is. They could have easily make two movies out of this one to show gradually and slowly how all came to be but, I guess, that was out of the question. :) But don't let that keep you away away from watching it :). One thing that has not change, from my point of view, from the first movie is acting of Michele aka Angelique; in certain scenes she gets it right, but in others she can not produce intensity, determination of Angelique from the books. But her beauty makes up for everything :) I love Rochefort as Desgrez, he is just awesome and that is how I have imagined him to be. In lees than an hour, third movies will be on TV. Can't wait! :)

Lovely movie :)
10 August 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I read the books about Angelique about 3 years ago (I am now 35) and I loved them and will always love them (I knew they existed but never had the time to read them). I was excited learning I would get a chance to see movies too, to see how director managed to get out the atmosphere of 17 century and how actors did they roles. I was a bit worried would everything be exactly as I imagined it when reading the books.

Today it is second movie of Angelique on the TV ( 3 hours and counting), but I still think of the first, it was so nicely done: acting (generally speaking), costumes and jewelry, music.... Of course, not all can be according to the book, but that is a minor set back in this historical drama. Michele is wonderful but her acing skill is poorer than the others, and Robert as a Joffrey de Peyrac is great. I must admit that Joffrey is one of my favorite male fictional characters and had shed tears learning he was killed, which of course, was not true. :) Anyways, I hope I will enjoy the rest of the movies as I was enjoying this.
