Sing 2 (2021)
Better than the first!
Very few sequels are better than the original. I am happy to count Sing 2 as one of those films that is better than the original. Pretty much the same casts with some refreshing newbies. Loved the show performed at the end. Worth watching for a fun family movie night.
Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
Jurassic Park...29 years later.
This film did a great job with merging the original cast with the reboot cast. For a movie that changed the film game over 30 years ago, to still come back with a storyline that matters and has relevance today is incredible in itself.
Was it predictable? Yes
Did I enjoy it? Yes
Thank you cast & crew for doing a great job ending a saga from my childhood.
Rating B.
Downton Abbey: A New Era (2022)
Downton Abbey film is BETTER the 2nd time Around!!
Very few sequels are better than the original films; well that is not the cause with Downton Abbey: A New Era. Downton Abbey is better on film the second time around. Yes, I know the television series is the real source material; however, the first film (well at least for me) did not transfer over from tv to big screen well. All of the fan favorites are back. Julian Fellowes did such an amazing job with the script...beautiful way to end the era of Downton Abbey. CHEERS!
Moon Knight: Gods and Monsters (2022)
Yo best Marvel Disney+ finale every!
All is finally revealed at the end, and what a journey it's been to go through the mind of Marc. Thanks to the creators for showing a true modernized Egypt.
The King's Man (2021)
FINALLY a prequel worth watching!
Rarely is a prequel better than the first film(s)...Well this is the case with The King's Men. The story, acting, and fighting sequences were all greater than Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014). I didn't even recognize the director directed the other two films in this series, (and Layer Cake; which is such an underrated movie). The symbolism in the film is soooo important too. It makes you asked yourself, "why are we really even fighting in wars?" I know a lot of the trivia responses were on correcting the historical accruals, but the film never says "based on a true story." It's a fictional story based on true events, so relax historians. I for one am glad they got this film right this time around. Honestly I don't think we need a follow up movie, but a well done origin/prequel film, thanks!
True Story (2021)
Philly in the building...
I enjoyed the fact that this film showed the shadowy areas of Philly; some may say the "True Philly." Overall I was entertained. Was a bit disappointed with the ending. Not going to give it away, but even the laziest of detectives should be able to solve this case. In honor of one of my favorite Dave Chappelle skits, this is a true story of "Keeping it Real, gone wrong."
Malcolm & Marie (2021)
New favorite Romantic/Drama
Malcolm & Marie is my new favorite romantic/drama. Beating out #eternalsunshineofthespotlessmind and #casablanca. To all that has been in a relationship and was (or is) unappreciated. Thank you! #malcommarie #johndavidwashington (sounding like ya daddy) #zendaya (damn girl, you grown) Plus the soundtrack is fire. This is not a love story, but a story about love. #Spoiler he says Marie at least 71 times...next time I watch it I'll count how many times she says Malcolm. It's only fair...equal opportunity.
Mignonnes (2020)
Because the Director is a Black Women?
Why does this movie have such a low rating? In a way it reminded me of 1995 film Kids. The story follows a young girl who is raised in a highly conservative religion trying to fit in with the cool girls in school. Communication is so important! The protagonist could have use someone to talk to about what was going on in her life. This girl was going through so much (watching her mother breakdown for becoming second wife, father being absent with his new wife, taking care of her siblings, going through her menstruation, social outcast) just trying to figure out where she fits in the world. Why so many people are disturbed by this film when we live in a society that praises "keeping up with the hoes" is beyond me? We as a society need my programs where young girls can get proper guidance and a safe place where they can express what they're going through and not use social media or the internet as a guidance.
Been So Long (2018)
It's been so long...that a Rom-Com been different
I'm not a fan of musical films, but this film is real, creative, and diverse. This film shows a very artistic form of expression of a single who's afraid to take a change on love again. I really enjoyed this film raw emotion. Not your average Rom-Com. Cheesy in the way the cast burst into song to express themselves, but Disney gets away with it every animation. *Bonus Grendry sings
