Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023)
Disney: please stop ruining iconic sagas
What continues to amaze me is Disney's uncanny ability to damage every iconic movie saga it touches. I wasn't the biggest fan of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull but never doubted it was an Indiana Jones Movie. The story, the cast, the depth of characters, all the ingredients were there. Episode 4 just wasn't as good as the first three movies. In this new episode, none of the magic could be found. The story was in my opinion mediocre at best and worst of all, the entertainment factor was simply not there for me. I was bored from the first to the last minute. I'm glad I grew up in an era where Hollywood was still Hollywood, an era where creativity, risk and imagination still meant something.
Keep on Keepin' On (2014)
Absolute must see!!
The film tells the story of blind piano prodigy, Justin Kauflin, who suffers terrible stage fright, finds his way to jazz legend and teacher Clark Terry who's battling illness. Not only will this movie take you through time and space with great archives and quotes from legends such as Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones who produced the film, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis but you'll, in my case, discover the life of Clark Terry, who is known to be the greatest trumpet player of all time and one of the greatest human beings in the world of jazz. At 94 years old, he's still teaching and transmitting to a generation of young jazz musicians his passion and dedication to excellence. It's not everyday your soul is fed by such incredible humanity, humility and musical talent.
