Very unfortunate. Uninspired and boring
13 June 2023
What a dull drab for a wonderful opportunity. The director really fell flat and didn't deliver on story or character development. Mostly felt contrived with very little substance outside a few bits that are to indicate who this faux bob ross is as a character. If I had to summarize this film beyond that I would say they really let Owen down on this one. The cover image alone gets you excited, as if to say this is Owen's come-back piece. Instead he got burned and had to do what he could with a script that felt as if it was subjected to writer's block in the first few paragraphs of act one. All in all I wouldn't recommend this film to anyone.

A Quentin Tarantino knock off
21 December 2022
100% the title. It was entertaining but felt forced. The main character intros, the filming perspective, sets, dialogue. The whole thing felt like some sort of homage to Tarantino. Ended up falling asleep. But wife and kid loved it so guess it can't be all that bad. Just more so fodder for the masses than a genuine story that has anything to offer beyond a thin story line and a ton of action. Once I saw the directors previous films it all made sense and I guess this is just his style, which similar to Tarantino, heavily borrows from other films. So much so that it is s little bit on the nose. Six of ten.

90's power rangers + Star Trek monster of week

What's with all the head nods? It feels super cheesy and like I'm watching enterprise but with different costumes. The acting isn't great and some characters are totally out of place. It doesn't feel true to the series. Good mindless fun but if you really take the lid off this one you'll notice how much it lacks between the plot and acting. More to be desired for how high production it is.

More unbelievable than a super hero movie
4 March 2020
The start was interesting and the single shot movie premise is neat but that's it. The movie goes into a ridiculous plot line with the most idiotic twists of the decade. I was offended by how awful this film was and would never recommend it to anyone.

Knives Out (2019)

One of the best films I've ever seen
16 February 2020
Going into this I thought it'd essentially be an art piece more than something I could relate to but by the end of it I felt like I was a part of the story. It opens with what feels like if Wes Anderson directed Clue but quickly becomes so much more with the attention to details, character development and a plot that continues to blossom.

You will be on the edge of your seat, relating to some characters and relating to the feeling of alienation by others. It truly was a ten of ten movie experience that I'm sure I'll watch again and recommend others see this while in theaters if they still can.

Oddly verbose
29 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It all feels so contrived. So without substance or meaning. The lead character acts as thinly as he chastises his students for being. The dialogue has no meaning. "What kind of fish is that. Macarel. You smell like flowers. Oh thanks. How old is your son? He's 8. Oh okay my friend has a black son that's 6." That scene excerpt highlights how opaque the script is. It's as if an art student drop out wrote the script and asked his father to fund it. Do not recommend
