Lukas (2018)
A movie gem...
A small independent flick with an aged Muscles from Brussels. Slowpaced, great buildup, excellent photo and realism camera work, cudos to the director! The main plot may not be new and innovative, but it was fresh and well made. Van damme was sublime, and more or less the rest of the cast were a pleasure to watch. Mighty surprised how good this movie was, but I'm even more surprised how low ratings it seem to have. Not deserved whatsoever. Weak ending though.
Mindhunter (2017)
Excellent show, horrible production management...
We demand that one of the best TV shows of all time is brought back on the air! If Fincher and Netflix ain't got the balls and financial skills to create and produce a third season, then find competent people who can. Period!
Ford v Ferrari (2019)
I'm no car junkie...
..but nonetheless i enjoyed this well made movie. Great script, great actors/actresses and great photography. All in all - great historical flick. A surprising example that decent flicks can be made nowandthen in the 2000's.
1917 (2019)
See worthy, but not more..
The "one shot" aspect of the movie was indeed well made, some individual great acting also, but the overall impression I got was nothing more than an ok but predictable and pretentious attempt to win a whole lotta Oscars. And I bloody despise the oscar w**re awards. It was worth the watch, but not more.
Dracula (2020)
Someone drive a stake through BBC's soulless heart already!
Awful, dreadful and a bloody horrid piece of crap. A couple of chimpanzees could write and produce better material than the responsible buffoons at BBC. The acting is actually worse than that ghastly Troy series BBC created, is that even humanly possible? Apparently it is!
Bram Stoker would have laughed or sued for this insult. Probably both.
The Witcher (2019)
Quite impressed...
Massive fan of the games for many years. Reading the novels now.
Actually thought I'd be disappointed by another masshysteric hollywood production of one of my favourite game universes turning tvshow. So many have already been destroyed like Mortal kombat etc. But nevertheless, just finished the first season and I'm genuinely content with the finished product.
Cavill and the rest of the cast are all doing an fine job at their parts. Didn't really have any doubts about about Cavill, he's actually doing Geralt miles better than Superman (which is just a horrible and overrated superhero character anyways)
My biggest doubt was the artistic approach of the show, the photo, screenplay etc. But It still has the same wit and humour, morbid bluntness concerning human morality/life is unfair atmosphere which could be felt in the games. Bear with me though, been comparing with the games for so long now and not the novels.
Get a feeling that season 2 will become an even better season. However I do hope that the creators include the wild hunt story in a later season in the future.
Edit: I agree with another reviewer that the stortytellikg of flashbacks/current time was really badly written.
Six Feet Under (2001)
Season 1 episode 6...
"**** you church freaks!"
Laughed my socks off hahaha :P
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
See-worthy because it's Tarantino, but that's all..
Tarantino changes alot of his tune for this one. Love the guy. Been a loyal fan for decades. However I may say this one was a bit of a snore fest, for me at least...
+ Epic music as usual. Great photo and camera work.
- The script. The boring dialogue and the style of storytelling, did not like it. Also an unusual pretentious and flat performance from some of the actors and actresses.
Tarantino, you can do better than this! I'll be waiting for the next Kill Bill. Cheers!
Dexter (2006)
Watching for the 5th time at the moment...
And it's still one of the most uniquely thrilling, funny, outrageous and best shows ever made.
The writing, storytelling, pace and music and sound effects, the natural talent by the actors and actresses etc etc etc - all this and more is without a doubt some of the very best I've ever witnessed on screen.
A TV show gem that will forever live on as a textbook definition of true movie art. Period.
However...
One "but" though...
The WORST ENDING of a show EVER MADE!!
And bloody hell, I'm still depressed about it after all this years...
Come back Dexter, you got more work to do these days then ever before!!
Doctor Sleep (2019)
"Perfect balance"?
Some dumb reviewers in here clearly lack any sense of taste in movie art...
The Shining has been one of my favourite films for 30+ years and this continuation on Kings literary works is a snorefest, immaculate. Saw one third of the movie and closed down my laptop. Never had anything against Ewan as an actor, but he's clearly misplaced in this film. The rest of the cast are the typical pretentious hipster actor's guild of contemporary Hollywood.
One highlight though, it was the Danny quote... "our beliefs don't make us better people, our actions makes us better people"..
And I promise, your action by avoiding this flick will help you for the better. Let the Shining and Kubrick's timeless creation and leagacy be the one worth to remember.
Once Upon a Time (2011)
The confused minds behind Lost is at it again...
+ Intriguing first season, rumple and regina are gems, excellent actors, and they're the sole reasons why I watched as long as I did - beginning of season 5th. Yeah, I know. Why did I..
- Everything else. Horrible script, plotholes everywhere, repeating oneliners, charming and snowwhite may be the most annoying characters/actors in history, a black lancelot and a black Merlin? Should I go on?? Bloody hell!! What can i expect from the writers behind perhaps the worst show ever made - lost.
Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)
Flimsy, weak and boring...
Main reasons why? Horrible script and catastrophic casting...
That hermafrodite/hipster actress lacking any charisma whatsoever MacKenzie, and that mediocre boring actor playing Ghost Rider is just dead wrong choices. Period!
And sorry, even if I'm delighted to see my favourite action heroine Sarah Connor again on the screen (love you Hamilton!) she can't alone save this so called third installment of the Terminator saga.
I'll personally not be back for more. Thanks Cameron, my tip is retire.. now!
Joker (2019)
Someone else earlier said...
...that "this film is a study in psychology".
Well, he was right. But it so much more. It's also blunt criticism towards our healthcare systems all around the world, our dumb and incompetent politicians don't care about and don't invest in psychiatric care. They just want to bury and lock away the Frankenstein monsters they're responsible most of the time in creating in our societies.
Personally I don't concider myself a full blown Frankenstein monster, never been on the wrong side of the law ever, but that doesn't mean I don't emphasize with Fleck's inner turmoil. Get ridiculed and beaten mentally or physically too many times and that person will change. Period.
This film is brilliantly portrayed by Phoenix. But it's apparently not brilliantly received by some viewers.. leave your worries for it being an inspiration for 'in real life' violence, instead view it as a bold way to get our corrupt politicians' attention - to take psychiatric care more seriously once and for all! More funding nation/worldwide and professionally done with a more humane approach.
And oh, once and for all - quit taking medieval scripture and theologians seriously concerning questions on morality and ethics. Evil isn't born. It's made. And always has been.
(P.S. I have always loathed DC comics. However, The Joker may be the only interesting character they've ever created)
NCIS: Los Angeles (2009)
Total and utter Stool Water Material...
...plus the show has probably the worst talentless actor ever in history - Eric Christian Olsen. Supernatural is in the same top category as NCIS, which is 2 of the most terrible shows ever produced. There's really nothing more to add. Avoid!
Passengers (2016)
Nominations for Oscars, seriously?
Yep, apparently it's serious.. your popularity and prostitute level is the norm weither you win an award in tinseltown. No news there. However, Pratt and Lawrence - undoubtedly two of the worst contemporary actors and actresses to date join forces in this flick and as unsual watching their embarrassingly talentless lack of charisma on the screen destroys brainscells for every minute that flows by. Avoid this bs and use your time for something else!
Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019)
The Gyllenhaal generation...
..sucks, and always will. I despise Gyllenhaal and most of his talentless degenerated peers. Sorry Spidey, remove hacks like Gyllenhaal, Holland and disney out of the picture and I'd watch you on the silver screen in a near future instead.
American Satan (2017)
The plain and simple truth?
This embarrassing pile of trash is about pretentious hipster brats..
Nothing more.
And especially if you happen to be a laveyan, do not bother wasting your time. The producers and actors belong in forced labour camps, for life!
Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)
When the CGI monsters display the best acting performance...
...and not the human actors and actresses, then you know you've got problems...
Tip: press forward to see the epic monsters clash, after that, turn off your laptop. It's a boring AF flick with no substance whatsoever!
Hell Ride (2008)
Hey Bishop! Never direct again, alright?
Sure, It has gorgeous ladies, a wicked soundtrack and music, but it's SUCH an embarrassing turkey of a movie. Perhaps the worst crap and waste of time I've witnessed since the beginning of the millenia. The **** did I just watch?! Seriously.
Norsemen (2016)
Even if it's a comedy...
...everything that is made on a norse theme is light years better than that embarrassing historically inaccurate show Vikings and it's producer - the infamous pseudoscientic "History" channel.
Black Death (2010)
Doubt is a human virtue...
Screenplay, storytelling and actor casting - all above decent quality. Some historical bubonic plague in medieval England, mixed with some supernatural mysticism. All made in a cocktail that makes it enthralling to watch from beginning to end.
And the somewhat anti christian aspects of the twist? The script is flawed, I know. But I still love it! It's refreshing to see once and then a movie that doesn't praise faith to be the best thing in a person's life, but especially a movie that doesn't end happy with sceptics and unbelievers that all of a sudden "see the light". I was on the heathen camp's side from beginning to end.
See it, especially if you're like me, appreciate fantasy flicks that challenges/mock christianity. And yep, Sean Bean dies. Definitely worth a watch alone.
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)
Worst one yet..
Disgusting tattooed hipsters, a Halle Berry that doesn't belong and a boring predictable shootfest - in comparison with the other two movies that had more spirit and much more worth the time. Parabellum is nothing more than an overworked and pretentious art action movie.
Warrior (2019)
Fast and the pretentious...
So it's easy to do the math who's behind the production. The hollywood society of self admiring people lacking an original idea of their own, ergo the fast & and the furious crew..
So, what to tell about this, Warrior...
Apparently in a alternative universe, Bruce Lee were alive and well in the beginning of the 19th century doing his iconic "evil eye" hand moves and practice fighting skills that look similar to jeet kon do. Right..
Shitty hiphop music is also apparently suitable for a period piece of like this.. so let's "shoot a scene" walking down a Chinatown street like some modern gangsters from Compton..? Come on!
The acting is mediocre at best. It will only impress sheep and millennials, which evidently is the main aim of viewers by the creators. Besides, TF&TF actors and actresses isn't really known for their talents.
Pace, storytelling and other aspects of the visual language is cleary a boxoffice ripoff by now, why do something different when GoT did it so well, right? So, extremely naked chicks and extreme violence, let's do that! (which I like, if set in a tasteful manner) But no.. this show isn't that at all. Boring and pretentious as said.
I'd never take the egotistical ****s behind TF&TF seriously as filmmakers, and especially handing them the torch on literary works done by Bruce Lee. Shannon Lee, who's also a part of the production, should be ashamed getting mixed up with these pompous clowns.
Punisher: War Zone (2008)
The best of Punishers actors..
..without a doubt, but the screenplay and script got serious flaws. However Ray Stevenson made it a respectable portrayal and is as always a joy to watch.
The Punisher (2004)
More of a decent B movie..
..than a decent portrayal of Frank Castle. It got more of a 90's matinee/comedy aura with onelines over itself, more than a robust action movie that makes the suffering and history of Castle justice. The script is here and there unintelligent and flawed, but is watchable to the end.
