Dil Se.. (1998)
9/10
One of the best Shah Rukh Khan movies
25 March 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I have to say, honestly, that this movie was one of the best movies with Shah Rukh Khan. It is a bit arty and that is what makes it so special comparing to the usual commercial stuff that he does.

Both Shah Rukh and Manisha act outstanding. No words to describe it. Preity Zinta is bubbly, but that just makes Manisha more real and believable.

The soundtrack is without a doubt one of the best things about this movie. The song Chaiyya Chaiyya is really famous, and the choreographer Farah Khan, won some international prizes for it. Shah Rukh dances on a train with Malaika Arora. Something extra: in the movie Kaal, couple of years later, Shah Rukh and Malaika do another song together: Kaal Dhamaal, which rocks like Chaiyya Chaiyya.

There is one point, which I wished would have been different. That's the only reason that I give this movie a 9 of 10. The ending could have been different. But maybe this is what makes the movie special. I just don't like to see SRK dying in any movie...

Outdated
4 June 2005
This movie was shooted begin of the '90-ies, Shah Rukh Khan was just a starting actor. So this movie has been lying on the shelf for more than 10 years! Of course the numbers, the looks, the clothes, the make up, the set, EVERYTHING looks different and out dated. The usual brilliant voice of Shah Rukh has been replaced by a squeaky high voice, which does not suit him at all. The story has a normal beginning, but the ending left me so puzzled, there was no real ending. I guess the producers thought we have material on a living legend like Shah Rukh Khan, let's take advantage of it. Shah Rukh Khan himself has denied the whole movie and said it was too out dated. He did not promote it , but they had the right to put his picture everywhere. Which they did and fooled a lot fans, unfortunately.

Guddu (1995)
Unreal storyline...music is generally not nice
4 June 2005
Warning: Spoilers
It all begins normal, a popular guy, a girl. First dislike each other then fall in love. Everything seems normal. Guy and Girl are from good families. Suddenly the guy gets mysterious headaches and the girl goes blind! When the boy was born the parents were warned against something terrible which would happen to the boy. But the dad being totally non religious didn't pay any attention to it, The mom on the other half always thought about it. After examining the boy (Shah Rukh Khan) they find a tumor and there is only one way of fixing it, and that is by going to the USA. But Guddu, the boy, has promised the girl that when he dies she will get his eyes!!!And therefor he is not able to go to the US, because the eyes wouldn't reach the girl in time! Big Chaos during the climax and very disgusting ending i think. Here it comes: Guddu gets operated by the doctor who suddenly is available to come to India. The mother dies during a hunger strike which she is keeping for her son and her husband (he is lying next to his son, in a coma, because the son refused to come with him to the US). Before the mother dies she writes on a note that the girl can have her eyes!! So end of the story, mother donates eyes to girl, Guddu marries girl, and they live happily ever after!!!

Army (1996)
Nice vibe between Sridevi and Shah Rukh
4 June 2005
Too bad that Shah Rukh Khan's role was so small in this movie. The scenes with him and Sridevi are just too funny. You do get a shock of seeing him with a moustache but thank god he will get rid of that soon. He was so funny and Sridevi is just amazing. But his part in the movie is too short. After his part these 4 losers come along, and the whole movie line changes, and these 4 guys all look alike, with leather pants and jackets, as if they are about to go to a Fonzie reunion! The villain is too unreal, He is a too strict looking guy. Anyway it was just not my cup of tea, Go see it if you are a Shah Rukh Khan or Sridevi fan like me, cause you need to see his part, and sit the movie through cause he has another short part somewhere in the middle of the movie.

Pardes (1997)
Perfect son-in-law
4 June 2005
The character of Shah Rukh Khan in this movie, is the perfect son-in-law. I think every girl who sees him in this movie would fall in love with his character Arjun. This unselfish boy, who is brought up in a home where some of them treated him like dirt.

The persons I truly disliked were the 2aunts. Looking like witches and being really arrogant about the money they owned and their dislikes of any one with less money (I call it the American syndrome). Mahima Choudrey was and is gorgeous, the role of Ganga was really a bit too much, but I could understand her point of view.

The scene with the snake was quit weird, the director could have solved that in another way. Don't know what the point was of this particular scene. Also the last song of the movie was totally uncalled for. I won't spoil it by saying why, but that song could have been edited somewhere else in the movie.
