Mare of Easttown (2021)
Food
I quite liked this, Winslet and cast were very good, part detective story, part soap. Perhaps a little predictable but what is it with the food? Crap food on paper plates, does that really reflect reality? Winslet looks very ordinary, real if you like, overweight, tired looking yet when she 'scrubs up' you can see the star on her. Her mother is excellent. Embarrassing in the way she should be. Overall good casting, good acting and story although not sure the reality met the hype. I've not seen series two but hopefully it will be as least as watchable. The chap who played the deacon was sufficiently creepy without appearing deliberately so.
Joe Pickett: The Missing and the Dead (2023)
Why
Series 2 has, so far, been dreadful. The acting has been wooden, the characters all appear to be idiots and they still haven't changed the character of Nate into the giant white viking that he's supposed to be. The storyline has been taken from, I think, book 10 but its been butchered. The tracker character was so ridiculous and the turn of events so obvious and poorly done that it is hard to imagine that anyone thought it was okay to release this as a series. I struggle to imagine that this was a series made by professionals. The books have so much potential yet series one was a bit iffy and series 2 is, well, dreadful. Is wokism responsible for the Nate error?
Joe Pickett (2021)
Why?
Generally good overall but why make Nate R black, smaller and a less important component of tbe story. , it makes no sense. NR is supposed to be an imposing fellow, very tall, blond hair, pony tall and with a temper and known as the viking. If the characteris going to disappear, both in essence and actuality why keep tbe name? The girl playing Sheldon has a most annoying voice but maybe that's just me, also too much cgi for me. Otherwise character development was decent, as was most of the acting. I would recommend that anyone that hasn't done so that they read the books, there is more depth to them.

Oh dear
Nihilistic, cliched drivel with spaghetti western dubbing. Storyline was thin and I expected at least one of the characters to beat his chest and shout 'ugg' at any time. The police chief's daughter had all the emotional output of a brick. One character - Will, was more guilty of dreadful / overacting than anything criminal and, as for the ending, which was entirely idiotic, it should've happened much earlier - like five minutes after the start. One of those 'we won't get that time back' movies.
