The Virginian is the only western I watch, but this one leaves many concerns.

I have grown to like episodes where The Virginian, Trampas, or Steve, carries the show, especially when they are away from Medicine Bow.

I like Mr. Cobb, but either his scripts, or the fact that he was very unhappy with the show, clearly shows in almost every episode.

Further, while I recognize that our nation, came from immigrants, many aspects of this episode are disturbing.

I think it might spoil the plot for you, so I will just say that justice was not served here, at all, and the script seemed to teach people that a crime, can be allowed, under certain legal conditions.

Good acting, but quite a few problems about morals,were presented.

Firstly, it should be pointed out, that many of the reviews here, contain definite spoilers, with no warning. Shame on them.

Then, all of these movie review wannabes, who parrot words of Hopkins and Bogart being " miscast" are cute little homilies that serve no purpose, and are wholly incorrect.

These studios were adept at all matters of film production, and they knew what they were doing. This cry of "miscast", makes people not want to watch a great movie. Bogart is great as the bandit, and is cast correctly. For goodness sake, it's not really a Mexican role, and so what if it was? There were many people who associated with Mexicans then, or had mixed ancestry. Anyway, he did fine.

And Hopkins has one, not two love interests.

But the story is brilliant, acting superior, and a very happy and rewarding resolution.

Errol Flynn, is sheer genius here.

It seems like when the Virginian, or any character is away from Shiloh, the episodes are more thrilling.

The pace of this, and the tension building up, because of the evil sheriff, makes this great. The Chinese lady, was brilliant in her acting, and for those of us knowledgeable about western history, there were often relationships with Chinese. She was tender, full of wisdom, and it actually worked well with Trampas.

I thought they should have described the outcome with the sheriff better, but overall a fine episode, and a plug for herbal medicine, which is good.
