The Portable Door (2023)
good book...
Good book, c**p film. I've read many Tom Holt books and thoroughly enjoyed them, including "The Portable Door" but this film bares almost no resemblance to the book.
If you're going to make a film of a popular book, and you've bought the rights etc try and make a slight effort to follow the storyline, other than the title and the characters name it is unrecognisable from the source. I hate that, why not change the protagonist names and call the film "knock knock" and thereby evade my undying hatred!
This is actually a terrible children's film because firstly it not based on a children's book, and secondly it encourages children to watch second rate films rather than read first rate book!
Moon Knight: The Tomb (2022)
i can't see anything
With all the money that Marvel and Disney have you'd think they'd send some unpaid intern down the shops to buy a couple of light bulbs!
In the tomb scene, that takes up most of this episode i really can't make out what is going on...
this is just so common in many film today, but has to be the worst offender yet.

October Faction (2020)
meh
Meh, looks like it could be good, but by episode 5 it's obvious they're writting for 8 series...
which (spoiler alert) they will NEVER get
just another wannabe soap opera
The Witcher (2019)
unbelievably bad
I've never heard of the source material, so i can't judge it by that. However, what i just watched seemed to be a children show with full frontal nudity...
It was dull in the extreme, dul, dull, dull.
i must admit that i'm basing my opinions on just one episode, there's a reason for that.
Catch-22 (2019)
Far worse than the film
Catch 22 is one of my all time favourite books, in fact it's the first book I ever laughed out loud to whilst reading..
Then came the film in 1970, it was disappointing but in many respects they caught the essence of the humour and the horror of war.
I resigned myself to knowing that you can never make a film that truly interprets a book.
Now we have the TV series, I was excited when I saw this had been made, finally a true version, a faithful representation of Heller's book. Boy was I disappointed!
The problem is Clooney, rather than using the money and screen time at his disposal to present us with Catch 22 he turns it into a Clooney 22. Not content with directing and producing, the part he played was expanded enormously, at the expense of other richer character from the book.
It wasn't funny and it wasn't shocking, but it was sanitised so much I had to check it wasn't a Disney production.
I would recommend the original film before this, for those you who haven't read the book, do so.
VERY disappointed
sigh
Left Behind (2014)
Nicolas Cage has finally found his level
Possibly one of the worst (funny) films I've seen in ages. acting, writing, directing... all terrible. so good to see that Nicolas Cage has finally found his level. it is SO bad I have to recommend it. pour a deep one, roll a long one and settle back to be amazed that it was ever made. well, obviously it was made because Cage's name was attached. if you don't watch it at least read the comments/reviews here, so wonderfully entertaining when the Abrahamic loonies give full vent!
spoiler alert << THERE IS NO GOD>>
;)
