The Last Dance (2020)
Great insight into the world of basketball
After binging the first 4 episodes, this documentary is well adapted for beginners and fanatics of this sports. Diving into one of the best winning streaks and the minds of the best players of the NBA ever had with some great piece of interviews and each episode is edited perfect.
A must watch if you have interest in the world of sports
The Gentlemen (2019)
Guy Ritchie back at his best
A film that grabs your attention from the start and does not let you go until the end credit.
Once again Guy Ritchie proves to be great in making a gangster movie although the plot can be seen as a bit commercial and classic, the impeccable dialogue gives it a different feel. Hugh Grants character is perfect as a storyteller and his chemistry with Charlie Hunnam is joy to watch.
One of the better gangster movies that i have seen for a while.
After Life (2019)
Life goes on
A show that does not tries to complicate itself and displays the everyday life with humour, love and sadness.
In this day and age you will find tv shows about superheroes & villains, heists, murders, fantasy and the list goes on. Which are great however less and less portray the daily routine of the everyday people. Ricky Gervais does the job perfectly with simple shots and the same scenery for every episode which gives us a sense of routine and reality to the show. However, every episode or piece of dialogue sends us a different message which will make you smile, laugh and cry. Life does go on even during the worst moments.
Forrest Gump (1994)
Waited 22 years to see this movie
For some reason I always hesitated before watching Forrest Gump and I have no reason why. Finally after years and years being in my watchlist I watched it and indeed it is one of the greatest film of our era. Although I am happy to have watched at more mature age and be able to fully appreciate its meaning.
The story telling is impeccable and is able to give you a life lesson on how to let ourself be knocked down and appreciate all the small & big things we have in our lives. The innocence of Forrest perfectly mixes the drama, humour, sadness and war. Furthermore with amazing shots, dialogues and acting
To the few people who have not seen it yet WATCH ASAP. I will definitely not wait as long to see this movie again !
El hoyo (2019)
An Enjoyable Movie
I was afraid when watching this movie it was going to be too gory and have a theme of horror, as portrayed in the Netflix trailer. However this is not the case, there is some gory moments but it does not throw you off the film if you are a skeptic of gory movies.
The plot mainly concentrates on the main character and the descent of his humanity, showing his ups & downs similar to the position of the prisoners that change platform each end of the month going up or down.
The idea of the film was interesting and kept me going, although the lack of information given to the audience can be slightly irritating. The ending of the film will keep you guessing for its meaning and as a film enthusiast i enjoy speculating
the various theories.
Overall, the film was well shot, written and played. I would not be surprised if the idea of film were to be copied in the next few years.
Yedinci Kogustaki Mucize (2019)
A Perfect Film
This is one of the most complete film i've seen in a very long time. It has all you need to attract different viewers and all themes are represented perfectly. Extremely surprised that it did not get the attention it now had when it first came out.
You will fall in love with the two main characters Ova and Memeht "Memos". This father and child relationship is portrayed incredibly and not for a second you will doubt their love for each other (congrats to both actors!).
What is great about the movie is that every character you will care for even how small their role is (a part from the colonel).
You will find yourself laughing throughout the film even in the most emotional scenes. It will be hard for you to fight back your tears, the innocence of memos is extremely touching.
PS: You will find yourself shouting "Lingo Lingo" for the next few days
Jojo Rabbit (2019)
All praise Taika Waititi
Before watching this, i heard all the great praise it had, being nominated for the oscars and reviews from critiques. I was scared this going to overhype the movie.
However the movie did not disappoint, and i fell in love movie. Taika Waititi is starting to be one of my favourite directors, the way he portrays child characters in such a loving way and true to themselves is astonishing. Whilst the storytelling itself is magnificently told and emotional (much more than expected). Taika depicts one of the most depressing time in history in a way never seen before with great success.
A must see movie!
Les choristes (2004)
One of the french greats
I remember watching this movie with my family when i was 7 years old and having a strong emotional reaction to it. However each time i have the chance of re-viewing the movie wether it maybe at school or a rainy day the same feeling when i was 7 comes back.
This for me is due, first through the portrayal of these children treated harshly by the school's director with strict rules "Action...Reaction...". However one relationship in the movie that always hits me is the unforced love between the student Pépino and the teacher Monsieur Mathieu. This is probably as a young age i attached myself to the youngest child of the group. When growing up I began to notice the subtle hints of their growing relationship throughout the film and never forcing it to the viewer, was done perfectly
The second success of the movie is the soundtrack. When making a film which portrays the beauty and benefits of singing and music it has to be impeccable, Christophe Barratier did not disappoint. Each song is as lovely to listen and some humorous touch added to the singing scenes always makes me smile.
For anyone considering to see this film, stop wasting your time by reading more reviews and just watch it and enjoy it !!!
