The First Purge (2018)
What a waste of time
I managed 20 minutes of this film only to realise that this was a not so subtle message about white man suppressing and controlling the black communities. All badies were coincidentally white. When will this crap end?
Deadwater Fell (2020)
Wow, not gonna get that time back.
I love the UK crime drama programs, to be honest I have seen a lot of them wow, this was a cure for insomnia. First episode was OK but after that it was so dragged out, with no real feeling of wanting to binge watch (the other 3 episodes). I am not sure what people saw in this even less how someone could give it a 10 but for me it was painful, slow and had no real twist. Sorry only 2 from me.
The Two Popes (2019)
Beautiful
I am a middle aged man who has no belief in religion. I have like many others lost loved one's including my partner which has given me so much more empathy. This empathy made my eyes water on several occasions during this film. The relationship that built up between the Pope and the Cardinal was beautiful- The acting was superb, the dialogue sometimes deep and other times light and funny (German joke, cracked me up). I absolutely loved this film, a genuine masterpiece, thank you.
Deputy (2020)
How the liberal lefties think things should be done
If you like politically driven cop style politically correct shows full of cliches and speeches, you will love this show.
Fear the Walking Dead (2015)
Plot is getting thinner
The first few season, 3 I would say had some meaning but know, it seems to be wandering aimlessly around like one of the zombies. The plot is getting thinner and thinner with what is now the most pathetic supposedly bad guy running the show bleating on about some woman that died, guess what buddy, most of the world was dead. Sorry about this but you have dragged this series on for far too long and everything that is now happening is just repetition. Almost as bad a throwning water on a oil fire....
Gets a 4 because of first 3 series..
Ad Astra (2019)
Not everyone's cup of tea
I saw the film last night and I am sad to say that I just did not get it.
I avoided all advertising and reviews about the film, hoping to walk in there will a clean and unbiased mind.
I am of the opinion a film needs a story, a deep or twisting plot, this film is basically a guy of to space, in top secret, on a commercial flight, going to meet daddy., who effectively tops himself when his son arrives. What was the whole point with the space pirates, a means of adding some real but unrealistic action.
A trip which takes absolutely months to undertake seemed to happen in days.
I like Brad, a lot, I gotta say he is one of my fav and versatile actors but half of the time I, as serious as he is trying to be, half expect him to start laughing or joking...
Whilst the film has artistic content which we have seen before in Gravity, the Martian, and 2001, sadly I feel it had nothing new to offer. Quite the opposite, I felt it was a mix match of potential scenarios, lightly covered so as to ensure that a weak plot came in at under 2 hours.
Sorry guys, just was not my cup of tea.
Another World (2014)
Why oh why
My first review I believe... Due to severe life changing events for the past 18 months I have been watching a large number of movies and TV series. I do not consider myself an expert nor do I profess to know the names of all the actors and directors; neither do I have any favourite actors or directors. However, very quickly after starting to watch this film (English guy) did I understand that this was a very low budget movie and the Colonel Carl McCrystal is pretty awful. The script, that anyone who is a fan of zombie flicks, as I am, will have seen and heard this all before. To be honest, 20 minutes was enough for me. The narration at the start and the first 5 minutes where 2 people need to sit and talk to each other to explain what has happened so that the poor, bored already audience have an inkling of what's going on should have been a hint....LEAVE ASAP.
