One Drop (2016)
Good story, good acting, bad creature makeup
OK, yes it's a basic plot, but it's done very well, I think the story and acting are better than most big budget horror films. If you can sit through a Resident Evil movie and not complain you should be blown away by something like this.
I happen to love creepy hospital movies, I don't know why. This sets a good mood, the right amount of mystery and creepiness. The characters aren't Dostoyevskian but were interesting and layered enough for a horror movie, the revelations come at the right times and are sufficiently hard to predict. The only negative is that the monsters look like leftover alien costumes from a 50s Sci fi movie.
Climax (2018)
Accurate and haunting portrayal of the dangers of LSD
Visiually it was a very interesting movie. But the storyline about dancers losing their minds and raping and ripping one another to pieces after being spiked with acid hit too close to home. I couldn't finish the movie, it triggered the PTSD that I acquired witnessing firsthand the brutality bloodshed and mayhem that erupt around this bio weapon of a drug at several Phish concerts. Yes my body still bears the scars but watching my brother eaten alive by a group of white guys with dreads and tie dyed shirts high on LSD is the scar that will never heal.
