Stargirl: Summer School: Chapter Seven (2021)
Yolanda's mom is still an ass
Somehow I figured this episode would be rather tragic and Yvette Monreal's character giving up the mantle of Wildcat was proof of that.
What really proved to me that this episode wasn't worth watching was how Yolanda fell back onto her faith because of what she did to Brainwave, the very same faith that allows her scumbag parents to deprive her of having a life (S1 Ep 4). What's more, is that when Courtney wanted to apologize, Yolanda's skank of mom claimed that Courtney was "corrupting" Yolanda.
Seriously, there needs to be an episode where Social Services locks up Yolanda's parents and Courtney's family adopts her.
Stargirl: Wildcat (2020)
Great character, bad episode.
The fact that the Yolanda Montez went from being the popular girl to having stones thrown at because of a selfie mistake, with no support from her parents, was all-in-all my least favorite aspect of this episode.
The fact that Courtney Whitmore was able to be there for her and try to raise her spirits by encouraging her to be Ted Grant's successor and colleague in the fight against the Injustice Society was the only aspect of this episode that was bearable.
Persecuted (2014)
Persecution, Really?
A movie where the big bad government tries to promote religious tolerance and the loving Christians are forced to put up with it.
Can you say delusional?
The so-called Christians who make films like this insist on being attacked by the big bad government even though they got their so- called savior Trump in the White House. They insist on refusing change and yet wonder why more liberal Christians or others dislike them.
Why they can't make films where the Christians are more like Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Martin Niemoller or Martin Luther King Jr is a mystery to me.
Last Ounce of Courage (2012)
Another grand delusion brought to you by more phony Christians
Once more a movie is made to make Christians like myself have me want to hide my faith and have me be reluctant to call myself a Christian.
It's bad enough we have straw man crap films about the existence of God in the God's Not Dead films or flawed arguments about creation like Matter of Faith, but when it comes to the whole stupid taking away Christmas angle, this piece of crap film takes the cake when it comes to the whole stupid persecution angle.
Why the hell would politicians take away Christmas? Would the same morons who are protesting about Christmas do the same thing for Non- Christian holidays? What right do they have to go waving around the American flag on their advertisement, when the film is fighting against the church/state separation, the core foundation of this country? and on a final note: what the hell is with the ACLU like organization doing being depicted as the bad guys?
I would expect some kind of answer, but then again with a film that's been approved by Chuck Norris, I might not want an answer.
God's Not Dead 2 (2016)
Civil liberties as the villains
Once again a bunch of so-called Christians are whining about being attacked by secularism, but instead of attacking institutions of higher learning they attack the ACLU, the one organization that can be considered a force for good, are being depicted as bad guys.
This proves that so-called Christians are making themselves more irrelevant to America, much less the rest of the world with their straw man arguments, persecution complex, lack of ability to think outside the box, no grip on reality whatsoever and their failure to understand why there is the church/state separation.
The ACLU has never been one to stand in the way of faith, unless faith tries to force itself unto people. Teaching Creationism instead of Evolution, leading the class into prayer, harassing non- Christians and LGBT students, are but many examples of how fundamentalist Christians have pushed their pitiful agendas unto public schools. Yet, they have the audacity to make a film such as this to vilify our nation's public school system and Civil Liberties?
There was time when Church was in school and it proved ineffective. This message is brought to you by the letter P for Progress.
Heaven Is for Real (2014)
Want delusions? Buy them with this film
Why are people so obsessed with getting into heaven? Is life so boring that they feel the need to die sooner than later? And why should people need assurances of getting into a better place rather than creating a better place here on Earth and living a better life?
It baffles me that people or so obsessed with concept of heaven, that they have to promote grand delusions of such a place, rather than remind people of what Jesus would do. He certainly would not sell the illusion this film represents.
Can we please have fewer films like this and more like Selma or Luther? At least they promote the Christian faith in a way that promotes change.
A Matter of Faith (2014)
Another anti-college film hard at work
Like God's Not Dead that came out that same year it makes college look like a bad place for Christians to go, independent thought is evil and that faith can win in a straw man argument. The only difference is that it attacks evolutionary sciences instead of atheism. What they fail to realize is 1) people need to college to get better jobs 2) Creationism is a joke 3) Critical thinking is more relevant in today's society than faith alone & 4) Those of us who actually went to college know that science (even when it has nothing to do with evolution) is part of General Ed requirements. Question: did the people involved with the making of this film actually go to college?
God's Not Dead (2014)
Kryptonite for Intellectuals
I have never seen this movie, but after reading the reviews this movie should not even be touched with the longest stick ever. I know there is more garbage to this movie then the three reasons I dislike it, but they are my reasons 1) They depict atheists as bullies and the one Muslim father as child beater (acting as if Christian don't do the same thing) and go as far as claiming that God is the only way in the life that is right (and they have been killing people for centuries just to prove that) 2) The argument that God is not dead is totally foolish and shortsighted. You can't prove that he is dead or even alive. Even if there is a God what's not to say he isn't Odin, Zeus or Ra? or even if God is a she like Freya or Athena.
The third reason is what really sends my blood pressure through the roof 3) They make College professors look like villains, that critical thinking and getting a good education is bad, that a book written by a bunch of bronze-age goat herders can provide all the answers (which it can't)and that colleges are not only a bad place to be, but are places that silence a person's faith by doing something as stupid as expecting one to sign a piece of paper saying "God is Dead." I have been a college student for many years. I have never once silenced me about my faith (even though I never brought up or had much of one either due to religious propaganda like this film) and I have to say that going to college is the best decision one can ever make. That is opposite of what this film represents and has done a very poor job of depicting what it means to go to college. Attending institutions of higher learning is not bad, passing up a good education for a farce is.
