Decent, but generic and a little slow. Rubbish ending.
9 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I felt the first season was decent, the acting wasn't bad. I mean, it's a generic crime drama, and when we first see the suspect, I felt it was too obvious. Like it is in so many of these crime drama's and it's just to lead the viewer and the investigation astray. But not in this one, so we knew the real culprit for certain, from the first two episode.

I thought they could have shortened this season by an episode or two.

We followed Dylan and that family for too much of this story in my opinion.

For me personally, I felt there were a little too much welsh. I mean I get it, it's a welsh crime drama, and I appreciate watching thing in it's native language. But for me as a non-welsh speaker, it was just a tad much that everyone spoke it all the time. Because I had to read so many subtitles.

The ending however is quite rubbish. How can they just let him commit suicide like that? They just stood there watching and at most telling him to not jump. He had no weapon like a knife, so they could just have grabbed him, before he climbed that railing.

Overwhelmingly laughable, just like The Last Jedi
29 May 2022
I was expecting great things, also based on the ratings. But the rating seems inflated a fair bit.

I feel that I'm getting very little Obi-Wan and a lot more "third sister Reva" and "Leia Organa". Two characters of which I ain't too fond of.

I mean there is just something about the Reva character, that doesn't quite do it for me. Some of the scenes and dialogue seems forced aswell.

And Leia? I mean some of the scenes of her, is also just laughable, really poor performance with her, the camerawork and just the script.

So far I'm giving it a 6, because it's Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ewan is doing a good job. Some of the less seen actors, are also doing a good job.

I like the "universe" of Star Wars, but Disney seem to try and copy The Mandalorian style / vibe. But something is not quite right. That is minor though. I will reevaluate after some more episodes.

--- Edit: Sadly this show just keeps going down hill. This is yet another forced female-lead show, just for the sake of it.

We hardly get to see the whimpering Obi-Wan Kenobi in his own show.

When we finally do get to see him, he's just a weak, sad individual... just like Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi.

Visually good, but I might be hallucinating
22 May 2022
The cast and the cinematography is good. And the scenery and representation of viking "life" seems realistic. With daily tasks and the clothing that they are wearing.

However the movie is not engaging, it jumps around and has weird scenes.

A long-winded movie, that never seems to catch on. It jumps really quickly from the backstory, which makes sense. And then jumps to the actual story.

But then the movie sort of just takes its sweet time getting nowhere.

I expected more.

Cluttered mess, bad flow and boring
21 May 2022
I like Oscar, but that is about it. A few good moments. This could have been much more.

This first season was gladly only 6 episodes. I had to fast forward a bit and especially the 5th episode. Managed to sit mostly through the first 3-4 episodes, hoping something might make sense and thing would start becoming interesting. But it never does.

The whole thing seems real messy and cluttered with nonsense. Bad writing and the flow is horrible through out. Too many boring drawn out scenes. It's hard to even understand what the point is.

Tomb Raider (2018)

Decent cinematics, average acting and poor writing.
3 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Visually a pleasing experience and Vikander matches the new Lara Croft gamecharacter well. It has a lot of elements from the games, almost feels like it's a bit too much, but then again that's also sort of how the games are.

The writing wasn't great for this, it doesn't really add up. And I also find the acting to be average at best, but that might come down to badly written dialogue as well. I rate it 6/10.

--- I just feel there is a bunch of silly stuff going on with the decisions throughout the movie. Mistakes that you wouldn't think an apparent skilled adventure-explorer would make.

--- First of all, why would she refuse to inherit her fathers money, because then somehow he wasn't dead? I mean that makes no sense.

So she would rather live on the povertyline, barely making ends meet.

--- How is it that she can read and understand old japanese scriptures and so on?

Being able to read maps, scriptures and solve puzzles.

The movie doesn't support any of that.

--- Sure we see her train a little with a bow and be decent at it at a younger age, but how does that suddenly make her the most bad-ass jungle-acrobat in the world once she arrives at Yamatai?

She is supposedly 21 years old at this point.

The only training we see her perform is some MMA and cycling in her adult life.

--- Why is it that at least the captain Lu Ren, who knows it is dangerous waters they will travel, doesn't alert anyone of their planned route/destination?

And also why don't they seem to bring any supplies what so ever, other than maybe Lara's fathers notebook?

--- Why is it that she takes down a guard/henchman, and she doesn't collect anything useful from the body?

Maybe at least a knife, maybe a firearm of sorts, cordage or first aid. That would be very logical, especially if you appear to be a skilled survivalist.

--- And in the tomb at the end, Lara first of all is the only one that seems to be able to read/solve anything. Which is odd since her father for example has studied this stuff non-stop for atleast a decade.

Maybe he could have helped solved the puzzle with the falling floor.

And yet she skill would have touched her father even after she knows he is infected and she knows what it does.

--- And lastly she at one point runs of in the tomb, without any sort of light source. And still she can find her way around, running full speed like it was broad daylight. I mean she wouldn't have been able to see a damn thing.

Incoherent storyline and bad choices
29 December 2020
This whole movie contains a series of wierd choices by several characters. And they ain't little subtle ones, but HUGE mistakes in their actions which makes no sense what so ever. And it's all for the sake of the movie-plot and it ain't pretty. I give a 5 stars due to the fact that the acting is alright, however the action is a bit ridiculous. I mean... I got through the movie without feeling the need to fast forward, so that warrants the 5 stars. Eventhough it is a bad movie in most regards. Some characters had the chance at several occasions to deescalate/end the plot then and there, but none choose to do so.

Greenland (2020)

Pleasantly surprised overall
14 November 2020
"Greenland" surprised me positively. The story and events unfolding isn't surprising though, fairly cliché. However, I feel the acting and dialogue is overall good from all involved, Gerard and Morena both decent and not any stubborn, hysterical kids as is otherwise the norm.

Isn't as ridiculous as the 2009 movie "2012" where whole continental plates flip upside down. "Greenland" is much more believeable and all in all, seemed alot more realistic and plausible.

There are a few points during the movie that scientifically don't seem right, and a big part is the ending, which doesn't really hold up to science either. However still quite nice. Not so much focus on CGI effects, more on the people and that worked well. As mentioned the story is a bit of the same with all these disaster-type movies. The main cast constantly runs into obstacles along the way, and some would be expected and also a few times they make poor dicisions, but not nearly as many of one could have feared.

Despite the very ending, that I considered the lowpoint of the movie, I will still give it a 7.

Horrible in every possible aspect
14 November 2020
Productionvalue, the acting, dialogue, CGI and sound quality... all of it is just awful. You notice it from the very first minuts of the first episode.

They are partly using CGI vehicles, with horrible mismatched engine sounds, the blood-splatter is bad CGI aswell. Sound quality seems of, also for dialogues at a distance. The acting and dialogue is poor and the "kids" don't seem "battle hardened" and rugged as you might imagine growing up is a world like this. I don't mean RAMBO-like types, but they seem like they don't fit the setting and act a bit melodramatic. Seems more like cliché highschool kids in any such American movie. All of these things are noticeable without even getting 5 minuts into the first episode.

An extra note is that the zombies all seem like copy-paste from the very first The Walking Dead season, which isn't too bad. But you might also expect more of these rotten corpses, to maybe start falling apart a bit more, that is however a minor thing as they would most likely do that with CGI, which they don't do well in this.

I can't recommend anyone even attempt this, sure it might tickle some teens fancy, since it's supposed to be following this new, younger generation growing up, after the world stabilized a bit.

Strong solid start, but poor execution at the end.
19 August 2020
Overall the movie becomes average. The movie had very solid acting, a strong start to the movie, suspenseful and not generic. It didn't have any typical "teenage horror" movie aspects, but you can't really call this a horror movie anyway. It is however good drama/thriller and I find the storyline and character development to be on point.

The ending didn't have the quality of the rest of the movie, the last 10 minuts basically cost this movie 2 stars from me. So instead of 8 it gets 6. Looks like they might have run out of money and time. Which is a shame, as this movie really had potential to have been great throughout.

Sort of your average one time watch movies
4 August 2020
The movie as a whole is a decently average sort of film. To me it doesn't bring much, but it doesn't suck anywhere either. It has a little different flair to it though and I liked that. Acting and cinematography is fine and work, but it does seem made on a budget, but again it works. Decent watch, but I wouldn't line up to watch it again.

Boring, no substance, nothing much
4 August 2020
The cinematography is good and the style might be alright and reminds me a bit of "Drive" also with Gosling.

But this movie has nothing else. No acting, because half the movie is wierd flashback like scenes, no one hardly says anything throughout the movie. There are endless shot where the camera just pans around for ages. And again no one says anything or moves around. It's basically just one long collection of still photos put into a dias show or a silent film.

The storyline and reason behind the movie is horrible. There are only a few scenes in the movie that got me going a bit other than that a drawn out and boring experience. Even though the movie is actually shorter than average it just was something I just wanted to speed up. So if they cut down on the panning shots and long silent moments the movie would be under 1 hour long.

I will give it 2 stars, only because I thought it had a few moments. But so much other stuff along the way that was just plain bad, that I can't give it any more.

A 4 stroke motor boat
27 July 2020
This movie has fine cinematography, acting is fine and the setting is good. But the movie didn't draw me in at all, alot of the same and the same situation repeating themself, which is the only resemblance the is with bad horror movies.

No horror what so ever, it is a bit mysterious though, I must give it that. But since the horror aspect isn't there, I don't really feel the mystery part makes any sense.

It's only as 4 for me.

Huge letdown in all regards
24 July 2020
I had some hopes for this movie, as it was said to be some postapocalyptic setting. Not really sure how that fits in and it is nothing like what you are set in view, when you go to watch this. But I think that quickly becomes apparent.

It was hard to keep any sort of focus, because there is no storyline and the production value couldn't be more barebone if you tried. You are throw into the middle of some dark movie, that almost seem to be pretending to be a horror movie.

There is no background story in any way to get you or keep you hooked to wanting to watch more. The dialogue and acting is just really hard to watch and there is no synergy between the actors. There is no natural flow or expressions, it just seem very choppy.

The ending actually turned out as I figured it would along the way. I can't say anything more without spoilers. But I feel it is not what you are promised when you go to watch this movie. I realise what they might have been trying to do and a know of a famous movie that has done some of the same, but again I can't mention without potential spoilers. In my opinion I feel the movie is labelled wrong and therefore I will subtract one star from my rating, 3 it is.

The Pyramid (2014)
4/10
Good potential, but bad execution.
10 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I thought it started out somewhat promising and with some good potential, but most likely needed a higher budget. But sadly quite early on, it just goes a bit sideways. And just turns into any generic low budget mystery-horror.

I thought the movie had a fair few good, but maybe not all are actually so historically accurate elements to the pyramid. But appreciated none the less.

The cast weren't horrible, but nothing above average. The dialogues was also decently written and didn't just seem half-assed and cringe as some movies of this caliber.

I did however sit through the whole movie and without skipping parts, so for that reason I wanted to still give it 5 stars. But the ending will have to cost it that one extra star.

! SPOILER PART BELOW ! However I think some key points to try and make it work, was just silly. Like they all have light-sources and yet the whole movie is super dark. I mean my tiny keychain LED-flashlight gives of more light than that.

Also right from the start they loose their "life-line" to the outside. Alright lets buy that for a second, but they also don't even remember which way they came in after walking of 100 meters. You could easily orientate yourself, by which thing they first faced when they crawled up to the apex room.

Another small thing is they said the drone cost 3 millions dollars, which is way above the mark. I looked up our police's anti-bomb drone which I assume is somewhat comparable and that costs 272.000 dollars.

I thought the "monsters" were quite well done. And I found Anubis depicted quite cool on the nightvision. However pretty lackluster in person. And the ending just became a right mess, sadly. How come the jackal like minions suddenly just seemingly random attack their master, after what is supposedly millennia in that pyramid/tomb together. Could atleast have finnished of a bit stronger.

If you see you world in black and white
20 February 2020
This movie was just extremely horrible for me to get through. A very somnolent experience. I felt that it was cold, dreary and with no progression or coherent story. Every dialogue was toned down to a frequency ment for sleep therapy. The acting might have been good, but I still don't have a clue what the story was about. To me it was just very tough to get to the end of. Wouldn't recommend for a date-night.

Wanting too much, gets convoluted
8 February 2020
I've been wanting to watch this movie for a long time. But ended up not being pulled in.

It tried telling too many stories in one, and to me it just seemed too incoherent and convoluted. I get it's probably the feeling they wanted to portray, that "City of god" is a town out of order and that things just go round and round in rings.

And having said that, then the ending fits. But I just wanted more of an ending. And I would have liked to have seen a bit more of a story, that just followed one individual or so.

Also I have may have hoped for a little more... "low-level-gang-feel".

A long monotone monologue... in space.
11 December 2019
I didn't know anything about the movie, so as so often before, I didn't really expect anything particular. But apart from the somewhat decent cinematography the movie is extremely drawn out and boring.

Even after I got done watching I have no idea what the purpose of the movie/story was. The whole movie almost seem like a long monotone monologue only periodically broken by a few shots of space-environment.

A big thing for me is, that the concept "the laws of physics" doesn't seem to play much of a role in the movie is also a big let down.

The movies story ment nothing to me. I barely understood what transpired in those 90 minuts. Also severely lacks a bit of backstory to the whole space-age. In any case, it's not one I would recommend, only maybe as sleep therapy.

Not a run of the mill, B-grade movie
12 October 2019
Pleasantly surprised. The movie is refreshing. At first glance and description, this movie might seem like a mediocre B-movie. Unsure of the budget, but in any case it certainly doesn't show.

It's well written, the acting throughout is great. Cinematography is spot on and great auditory experience aswell.

The movie is not predictable and has some surprising moments.

Well worth a watch.

Great chemistry between Viggo and Mahershala.
25 July 2019
The movie were packed with great moments.

The chemistry between the two lead roles (Viggo and Mahershala) felt so organic and genuine, like it wasn't even acted. The character development through out, was very fluid and well done.

The movie had many, however subtle moments of laughter (for the viewer) through out the movie.

And the movie seemed to have captured the time period quite well and how life was back then. Also the pace of the movie were balanced nicely. Not too rushed and yet not too much detail into the characters of the movie. It left a little to think about, and just gave the viewer enough to not get bored.

Cloak & Dagger (2018–2019)
4/10
Develops tirely slowly and doesn't answer many questions.
21 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This show is extremely slow to develop. Basically have to get over half way through the first season to even realise why its called cloak and dagger. The actors actually does a decent job and the dialouge doesn't seem forced.

There is little to no "action" until maybe the last couple episodes. And you see very little to their abilities. Seems like a cheap way to make a series on some teens with superpowers.

Still after the first season I still have no idea how or why they got their abilities. And how that all ties together with what else is happening. Because midway through the season we start getting introduced to what might aswell have been taking out of a zombiemovie. Which yet again isn't explained how or why they turn into raging zombies, that are out to kill people.

And on the final episode everything goes a little crazy, people turn into more zombies as the story repeats itself. Only to end in some rediculous way, where a beam of combined energy into the sky somehow, initially seem stop the zombies.

Bit of a yawn - Not much to it
30 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It is never a good sign when you start fast-forwarding a movie.

The concept for the movie is quite interesting. But sadly enough the movie has no body and no character. Can only rate the movie as average, due to redeeming factors of a good idea and decent cinematography.

The movie characters however, are dull and the dialogue is tiring. (Which is what I started to fast forward through). All the "flashbacks" seems purely there as a filler to lenghten the runtime. It is listed as part horror, but there is genuinely nothing even remotely scary about the movie, which was a disappointment to me.

The concept of the movie makes it impossible to visualise whatever it is that the people see. Without ruining the mystique and the part that does intrigue, but "its" presence is visualised quite well in my opinion.

A letdown from the story. Otherwise average.
29 July 2018
First of all. This "scary" movies ain't really so scary. A huge letdown, because the effects are great and I found this new iteration of Pennywise to be much more effective is the "scary-department". Mainly thanks to the improved CGI.

But the movie never really delivers, I mean I never got even slighty scared this whole movie.

The movie is convoluted, but very predictable at the same time. A big factor in the fact that I didn't find it scary. That and the way the other cast handles themself, almost throughout the whole movie.

By itself, the movie is maybe average, but as a remake of IT, not so much.

Simply though to go through
15 July 2018
The first bit of the movie were "so-so", but I could maybe, maybe buy into that. Even though I thought it were already a bit over the top and incoherent with the story.

But very soon, everything goes sideways. There is generally no storyline, no actual plot. The dialogue in the movie is very poor and has no real depth to it. In the previous Transformer movies, they have managed to also have some fun dialogue, but if they are in this movie, I totally missed them.

The movie tries to save itself with alot of action, but sadly its not very good or memorable. And the particleeffects looks aweful and poorly implementet. Also the movie is packed with product-placement, I don't mind some product placement, as it can make a movie look more "real-world". But here it's over the top and only an attempt to finance a bad movie, from an otherwise good franchise.

The last 1½ hour or so, were nothing but action, but without coherency and without that plot I mentioned, well it is just wasted screentime. I could not watch this movie in one sitting, and even during my second sitting, I simply did not manage to watch the last 15 min. or so. Fair enough, you might not fall asleep to this movie, but it has nothing else going for it.

It's a-ohkay.
20 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This movie isn't particularly good, but it's okay for a single watch. But the movie is fairly fast paced, it's basically only an hour and 20 minutes. Sure, the plot has holes and the logic is really quite silly at certain points during the movie. Had those not been there, I would have rated it 6, no problem. But there were action, and it was fast paced, so atleast not to get boring. The plot itself was very predictable, but I never expected much else. The quality of the cinematography and the action however... not all that great, but for me it worked alright, atleast enough for me to watch the whole movie. For me, the movie were actually decent enough, for the most part. It was mainly towards the ending that I had the hardest time with it. The acting felt solid enough, but the druglord, played by Epps were clearly the worst to me. The 3 brothers Hause, Ashmore and Holmes did a decent job, so did Willis, when he were on screen, which he barely were. Also "hecnhman" no. 1, played by Brosnan also did a good job.

Biggest gripes I had with the movie:

1: A few big ones for me, were that supposedly two of the brothers are well trained marines. Yet they don't foresee that their identity might be compromised as they go full rambo on a druglord. Just casually leaving the wife at home as if it were any regular day. She should have been sent to some remote cabin, paid in cash.

2: Also why would you assault the druglords major operation headquarter, without much in sense of tactical entry and tactics. They just walse right in, and with a policeshield for only cover. They hit the druglord, rescue the hostages and leave. Never even checking to make sure he is down for the count and no double-tap. You could see the revenge hit, he would soon make on them, coming from a mile off.

3: And why would you (a), use you own truck, without atleast hiding its numberplate and (b), why would you return to your everyday address between skirmishes and also plan meetings there.

4: And during the last fight at the house, as the one brother gets shot. The 3rd brother (untrained), but still. He just rushes out infront of a weapon he clearly know is there, because he just saw his brother get shot. He however, decides to turn his back to the gun, so he can cry over his brothers dead body. And for some reason the "badguy" with the weapon, should have killed the 3rd brother long ago, but figures he wants to do it excecution-style, which is tempting, I guess. Now that he is kneeling down, facing away... but still.

Monster - A mysterious, eerie thriller in the frigid colds of the north.
22 December 2017
Monster or as I have come to know it, "mord i vildmarken" (murder in the wildernes). Is a Norwegian thriller, that unfolds in the remote, northern reaches of Norway, somewhere near the Russian border. It's a small, isolated community, maybe not as tight-knit, as one might think. With secrecy, religion and more. After a young girl goes missing, the police gets their hands full. And we, the viewers, soon gets introduced to alot of new characters. Everyone with their own story and even agenda, it could seem. And it is surely a challenge, to try and figure out how the whole story fits together, with past events and current stories all entangled. Alot of the story, being told, aren't even important for the actual plot in the story. But then again, that all adds to the mystery and oddness. The cinematography ain't bad, the scenery is convincing and there is a general eerie feel to this story in the arctic north. There are none of the characters that you will "root for", and I'm sure it's intended that way. It adds to the whole story. However, I don't really think any of the characters performed outstandingly, but they weren't bad either. There are certain slower sequences, but not to a point where you start to get bored. I gave this 6 stars, which is typically my cutoff for something worth watching, with so much other on offer. In all, this series has enough to offer, to be worth a watch, good camerawork, decent performances and a mysterious thriller with alot of extra oddness added.
