Low budget but watchable
30 November 2023
In no way, is this a high production Hollywood film however, I found it watchable. Considering I watched it on Tubi which mostly has fairly bad films, I was surprised that this wasn't too bad at all. Don't expect to be engaged with good quality graphics, but the storyline is basic, but enjoyable. The writing could be improved. Especially the character of Morgana , which was fairly two-dimensional and not original. If you have nothing else to do on a radio afternoon, then I can recommend this film. The story is not particularly original, but it is not a long film so you're not gonna be wasting too much of your life if you have nothing else to do.

Poor script and acting
6 November 2023
I didn't know anything about this when I started watching it. Luckily the episodes weren't very long and so I was able to watch them reasonably quickly.

In summary, it wasn't really worth watching. The script is slow to develop and confusing as the character types aren't really explained. On top of that the acting is quite poor and melodramatic.

It seems to be some sort of a fairytale in a modern setting relating to arrange of different supernatural creatures, none of which are explained, or particularly interesting in or of themselves.

In summary, once again, don't bother to watch this , as you won't get those hours back again.

Yet more of the same, but more bling
18 August 2023
Im sorry that I went to see this film. It is a couple of hours of my life the I wont get back again.

It is much the same as all of the rest of these films. Once again Ethan Hunt and his crew get shot at a million times and magically none of the bullets seem to hit them. Improbable car chases and crashes never seem to hurt them for long. No broken bones or whiplash for our action heroes.

Im tired of this sort of rubbish coming out of Hollywood.

This film is ok for teenagers who are only looking for action and special effects. Anyone else should definitely look elsewhere for a good better film, one with a plausible plot and some actual character development and realistic drama.

Degrades into silliness quickly
29 December 2022
I quite liked the first series of this television program. However as the series progressed it degraded further and further into utter silliness. By the time I got to the fourth series I could no longer stand to watch it. Hence I'm giving it only a four star rating as I don't think anyone should be bothered watching us at all. Complete drivel.

I cannot understand why anyone would write a story along these lines as it makes no sense at all and is insulting to anyone who is a Christian (not me). It is full of silly fights sceens and silly shootouts that really mean nothing at all and just waste time. The primary actors are okay but the secondary actors are very weak.

Two hours of my life that I won't get back
9 October 2022
Two hours of my life that I won't get back.

So on the positive side the main actress is very good in this film. The setting is interesting. It also starts by giving the impression that this might be some form of science fiction movie.

But then it degrades into a naval gazing pit of boring despair about a woman's grief. None of it really makes much sense. All of it is slow. There is no science fiction. There is very little logic. I can't believe I'm even writing a review of this silly movie.

The truly depressing aspect of this movie is that it could have been so much more with a bit more thought to the storyline to pull it all together to actually mean anything at all.

If you value your own time then watch something else

I'm going to go do something useful now and completely forget about this movie.

Long winded, soppy and no ending
25 August 2022
This series started out alright and then turned into some form of soppy teenage girl focused relationship based strange horror. It didn't really know what it was meant to be. But the real clincher for me was that it has no real ending. I wish I had never watched this silly series because I doubt that there will be a second series.

I cant quite see the point of this film
19 February 2022
I liked the books and I liked the 1984 Dune film.

However I cant quite see why this version has been made. It isnt all that much better in terms of visual effects, and the acting isnt great. Combined with it just being half of the previous film I think that it is only worth a 6 out of 10. Its not good enough for me to want to see the next part of this story.

An opportunity missed
19 February 2022
This movie is great in many ways. The acting is good, the actors great and the imagery is good too.

However it is too long and too (emotionally) dark. If it had focussed a bit more on the clothes from the period and less on the gore/horror, and if it was cut a bit shorter, then it would be much improved.

Overall a good film but not great.

Dreadful
28 January 2022
Plot with holes. Bad acting full of long slow scenes. A dreadful lead actor whose character behaves irrationally.

I sat through two and a half episodes. By that time I was about ready to gnaw my own leg off to get away. So I fast forwarded through the other episodes. In total I gave this silly program about 3 hours of my life that I'll never get back.

Do yourself a favour and do anything other than watch this.

Utterly rediculous
15 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Where do I start? So first we are asked to believe that the virus can infect all kids and kill most of them and then give the survivors supernatural powers. That's a big ask. Then for some reason the economy collapses in six years when there are no kids. Why? And the adults take the survivors and lock them away in concentration camps for some unexplained reason. Why would adults do that? Considering at the species can only survive if these kids breed then why would you Lock them away and kill a lot of them? There's so much craziness in the story that I couldn't even make it to the end of the first episode.

A tribute to great dogs
14 November 2021
A well made and well acted film, but the star is Togo.

I found this film to be a tear jerker as it strongly reminded me of my father's dog, Tim. Tim was an Australian kelpie (a sheep dog) and his bond with Dad was like in the film. He was devoted to Dad.

Dad had firm views on his dogs and would not let us treat them as pets (no patting of dogs), and like in the film (no dogs in the bedroom) Dad's dogs were never allowed into our house. They were cared for and trained but not pampered at all.

At one time Dad had to have major surgery and was away from the farm for weeks and when he returned he was bedridden for months. During that time Tim fretted and eventually stopped eating entirely. Mum was concerned and tried to coax Tim into the house to see Dad but Tim wouldn't enter the house. So my elder brother picked him up and carried him into my parent's bedroom. Dad was able to put his hand out of the bed and reassure Tim with a pat on his head. Tim licked Dad's hand and wagged his tail and then went straight outside and ate his food. Dad eventually recovered.

Some dogs are amazing. But their lifespans are short so it is always difficult when they die.

Just irritating
14 November 2021
I watched the first episode of this and thought it was okay and then kept watching each episode hoping it would get better but it just got worse.

While the acting was mediocre the real problem was with the writing. The characters just are not believable at all as they keep doing stupid things that no one in their right mind would ever do.

On top of that there is not much to recommend watching from the point of view of the basic premise of this series as it is just bleak without any hope of it getting better.

Do yourself a favour and just watch something else.

Diverges way too far from the books
11 November 2021
Diverges way too far from the books. Well this movie is okay for kids it is quite boring for adults. The special effects are okay but the storyline diverts much too far away from the original books which is just annoying. It's barely good enough to waste the time watching it.

Silly and brainless but watchable
26 October 2021
Where do I start. This is silly on so many levels. She's a very unlikely heroine. The man a two-dimensional and insulting. The creature is sort of interesting but doesn't really make sense

That being said if you have a spare hour and a bit to watch something brainless then go ahead.

Pale version of the book
21 August 2021
I read the book then went looking to see if a movie had been made of it.

I was disappointed with the movie for two main reasons.

Firstly, the movie, while sometimes narrated by Pikelet's older self, seems to focus soley on the younger man, which destroys the major theme of the book, which is why the older Pikelet has screw up a lot of his life.

Secondly, Simon Baker, who plays Sando, is rather unconvincing as a retired professional surfer. He just doesn't have enough physicality. Considering that there isnt all that dialogue for Sando they could have used an actual surfer.

Gritty love story
22 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed this film. In particular I liked the portrayal of life on a sheep arm with all of its grit, muck, hard work and beauty, in combination with a set of family tensions ready to boil over. Into this the hired farm hand arrives and falls in love with the farmer. What could possibly go wrong?

My only reservation with this film is that it is entirely silent on Gheorghe's (the farm hand's) life. He returns to Britain with Johnny, but what of his history, family and life? Alec's acting in this role is excellent but the character is not developed at all which is frustrating and disappointing.

Feel good funny film
17 November 2019
A breath of fresh air with an intelligent plot, good acting and good songs. Made me want to listen to the Beatles again.

Update: Ive now seen this movie a number of times and it gets better each time. Ive upgraded my rating to 9. One of my favourite moves of all time.

Hollywood butchers sci-fi yet again
17 November 2019
This piece of drivel is based on about as much known science as a 1950s episode of Roy Rogers. It was obviously written by marketing savants without anyone in the room who even had high school science. Just embarrassing.
