Liverspots and Astronots (2018)
Fantastic show with loads of potential
I was really impressed by the first season of Liverspots and Astronots. There are two main strong points that stand out for me, Animation and Characters.
Animation:
Now of course trying to compare this style of animation to something much higher budget like Rick & Morty wouldn't be fair. But I really enjoy this style of animation and find it quite unique. Some close up still images remind me of Ren & Stimpy or Spongebob and I love this. I love shows where you want to pause and take a closer look at things.
Characters:
This is where this show has the potential to shine. Having so many unique characters in a show is a fantastic structure to build multiple stories around, without the risk of getting bored. All the characters have been well thought out and designed, some voice were a little unsuited (robots) but overall I felt most were spot on. This is also the first animation show I have seen with Colin Mochrie lending his voice to and I thought he done extremely well. There is loads of room to grow and play around with character and I am very excited to see where they take some characters, maybe adding in some character arcs long term would be good.
The only real negative thing I don't like about Liverspots and Astronots is the running time. It is just too short. In order to feel fully immersed in a show I think you need more build ups, more depth and feel like the you are going along on the adventure with the character themselves and having a longer running time would greatly help with this. I am not sure since it was with Facebook Watch maybe they has time restrictions or perhaps because of budget requirements but either was I hope we will be many more seasons with much longer running times.
Animation: 8/10
Characters: 9/10
Voices: 8/10
Overall: 8/10
Great show guys and gals PLEASE KEEP MAKING MORE!
It Don't Cost Nothin' to Say Good Morning (1995)
Great Independent Short film
It Don't Cost Nothing' to Say Good Morning (1994) : tingtong123abc
One of my favourite short Independent Canadian films, created by Canadian legends Kenny Hotz and Spenny Rice. Following the daily life of a homeless man named Gordy. The film shows locals talking about Gordy, how they know him and details about his life.
There is an important message to this film and it happens early on, Gordy says the title of the movie "It Don't Cost Nothing' to Say Good Morning". He says this in reference to rich people being out of touch and not being able to take their money with them when they die.
*SPOILER ALERT* The films tragic ending explains how Gordy died.
Overall this movie was a heartfelt tribute to Gordy, the alcoholic midget from Canada with a happier outlook on life than most of us.
Zombeavers (2014)
Better than expected
Zombeavers (2014) Movie Review: tingtong123abc
I know what you are thinking, that this is just another Sharknado all over again, well not quite. Yes Zombeavers is not going to win an Oscar anytime soon but there some solid performances and visuals.
The acting over all is surprisingly good, considering that this was most of the actors first feature film.
Mainly puppets were used for the beavers with minimal CGI.
I found the makeup to be very believable for a small budget film. Even the Human/Zombeavers costumes were great.
The plot was very basic, just a typical low budget horror film, cabin in the woods situation.
I was very impressed by the Zombeavers being able to locate and cut the phone lines on both cabins.
