I thought this series was brilliant. It had humour as well as many poignant moments. The actors were all perfect in their roles and the guest actors who were playing 'themselves' were also good sports I felt and added to the authenticity of the whole thing. I'm just a little tired of reading all the negative comments from those people who watched the original French version first and saying that the British version is a poor one. I bet if they'd watched the British version first - and then the French they would be saying the opposite. Purely out of curiosity I watched the French version afterwards and to be honest with you, I much prefer the British adaptation....but then I was bound to say that right? After all, my first viewing was in the English language which, let's face it, is so much easier to watch and enjoy as opposed to having to read subtitles which means you miss a lot visually. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the French version, but it didn't hold my interest so much because I'd seen it all before and that's the main reason for the negative comments I think because it's just not as enjoyable when you've already seen a complete other version in another language. I watch many foreign series/films and rate the French amongst some of the best; however, this British version was just as good, if not better than the original and I for one hope they make a second season.

From the very first episode I was hooked; however, like some other reviewers have pointed out, I cannot understand the low ratings posted here as I find this a most compelling series with some outstanding acting by all. I don't remember seeing many trailers leading up to the release of this series (like some lesser quality dramas are afforded) and because of that I think the viewing figures are not as high as maybe they should be. I'm only halfway through, but can't wait to see what evolves from this truly outstanding drama.

Went to see this movie last night and dragged my husband along for company as all my movie 'buddies' had already been to see it. I fully expected him to be nodding off early into the film, but to my surprise he actually enjoyed it. As for me - I loved it. It has been a long time since I've been to see a good musical (La La Land doesn't fall into this category for me...dismal film); however, for 2+ hours I was able to completely lose myself in this movie and wasn't bored for one minute. The one thing I can't understand is the criticism that Emma Watson has been receiving from lots of reviewers as I thought she was the perfect Belle. Some people even referred to her as being 'unemotional' and too 'cold'. For me; however, Emma captured Belle exquisitely, with just the right mix of angst, vulnerability, strength, longing - and in the end, love. She is a natural beauty without the typical Hollywood glamour - a refreshing change if you ask me. As for Luke Evans - he most definitely nailed it as Gaston!

My summary basically says it all. I had so been looking forward to seeing this movie particularly as l love musicals - but am sad to say that I was hugely disappointed. It started brightly enough with the traffic jam dance scene - but from there on in it was all downhill for me. I felt the whole film was terribly disjointed and it felt like they were trying too hard to recreate the magical musicals of years gone by. The singing was poor - and the 'dancing' - if you could call it that - equally uninspiring. Some reviewers have even gushed about this being one of the 'greatest musicals' of all-time. What?? Have they never seen West Side Story, Grease, or any of the old Hollywood greats? Obviously no, otherwise they would never have made such a stupid statement. For me this was 2 hours of ZZzzzzz.

I had really been looking forward to the start of this much-hyped series and even managed to stay awake during the first 3 or 4 episodes, telling myself that things were bound to get better. Well guess what? I'm still waiting. At first I felt like I was watching 'Groundhog Day'...without the laughs, but was still hanging in there hoping things would improve. But they didn't and I finally deleted all the 'unwatched' episodes. I really can't understand all the gushing plaudits from some of the reviewers on here (although I sometimes feel people are just taken in by all the hype and don't know a crap series when they see one!). The characters are unsympathetic, the script is poor and the whole thing is so totally devoid of any humour. The only thing I hope for is that there will not be a 2nd season.

I haven't been to the movies in quite a while, the reason being that I haven't found anything worth paying the money to go see; however, I'd heard so many positive comments about this film that I decided to go along with a friend to watch. The cinema venue it was showing in was sold out (and this was a 6:30pm performance we're talking about). I wasn't disappointed as it was a thoroughly entertaining movie from start to finish, with hardly a silent pause throughout because it was laughs all the way. One of the last scenes towards the end, when they are 'transporting' a 'heavily in labor' Bridget to the hospital, had the tears rolling down my face. It feels SO good to laugh and for that reason alone I would encourage people to go see it. 10/10

My girlfriend and I decided to watch this movie at home as we missed it when it was doing the rounds in our local cinema. How glad we were, for at least it meant we were able to sip on our wine and chat in between - which we would have not been able to do had we watched in the cinema. And we did a LOT of chatting, mostly about the direness of the film itself. I can't believe so many reviewers thought this film to be amazing (but then we're all entitled to our opinions - and we all know how opinions differ to the extremes at times). However, I honestly couldn't connect with ANY of the characters in this film - particularly the leads. I really have no words...just found the whole film totally ridiculous - and don't even get me started on Hans Zimmer's background music!!! We needed subtitles for some scenes as the music was so overpowering we couldn't hear a word that was being said. I was even so bored at one point that I started to imitate Matthew McConaughey's irritating 'whistle' as he speaks. Enough said methinks.
