Miami Bici 2 (2023)
They absolutely didn't improved or at least stay consistent from the first movie
Miami Bici 2 is the sequel or rather wants to be a sequel to tge first movie Miami Beach. Unfortunately they didn't improved on the or at least stay consistent/on par with the first movie. It's really, really dissapointing.
Unfortunately, it should be expected. Since the Communist Revolution, we as romanians were almost (keyword here: almost) never been able to make quality movies. It's a downward spiral that apparently never ends. I mean, there's no quality control here so why they should even try? Let's bleed money just for the sake of being actors. Who knows, maybe some hot shot from Hollywood might notice us.
Seriously, it's really depressing if you really think about it. I can name 2 or 3 movies that were made by romanians that are worth watching. The rest is pure garbage. Wasted money and time. Just like this movie.
Tron (1982)
Overrated movie. Great visuals but lackluster in everything else.
Until 2010 when Tron:Legacy was released, I never knew of Tron's existence. Because Tron Legacy is such a masterpiece, I have decided, unfortunately 13 years later after T:L and 41 years later after the release of the original, to watch the original movie. Just imagine: if T:L is such a great movie, that definitely means that the original must he as good, if not even better than it's modern sequel.
Needless to say that it is not.
The movie is all over the place. Movie starts showing Flynn's arcade place, for absolutely no reason, then it cuts to some random guy who sends a program to find God-knows-what-file. Then we find out that he isn't a random guy but an employee to an IT company. By the way we never understand what that company actually does: does it make games, because his Executive Chef got promoted because of some games that he never made or it is a company that offers military software (or military equipment?) to the army like the Master Control Program claims to be. I guess that's left to debate. Then we find that that what the employee was doing was dangerous, in the vision of the exec chief so he restricts the level 7 "just for a couple of days". Then the employee (Alann) goes to his girlfriend (?), wife (?) (I guess this is another thing left up to debate) that works among other scientists, on a laser that can digitize things. Probably part of the same company. We don't know that for sure.
They both come to Flynn because (somehow) the exec chef was after him. All 3 make a plan to break in the company at night to recover the documents (in actuality, just one sheet of printed paper) that shows how Flynn is the owner of those games (in reality is actually just one game, you can clearly see that at the end of the movie).
Somehow the Master Program feels threatened hy Flynn so he decide to digitalize him (probably to get rid of him much easier). The second part of the takes place into the digital realm which I won't go into detail.
Jeff Bridges tries to make the movie more livable, more entertaining compared to the rest of the movie/characters but I think he's just doing too much. He feels like he's too immature and at times doesn't even understands the gravity of the situation.
Some special effects are also very questionable if not straight up bad even for that time of the movie. I am looking at you, Master Control Program. Also the lightcycles. Oh god, the lightcycles.
Overall, it's a pretty bad movie. Great graphics but lackluster in basically everything else.
Blue Beetle (2023)
Ok-ish superhero movie
Blue Beetle is an ok-ish superhero movie. Neither too bad but neither good either. You'll either love it or hate it. At least according the the reviews here on IMDB.
Me personally? I think it's ok, like I said in the beginning. Thing is that it really tries to be or rather borrow from way too many movies: Sky Kids (?), Deadpool (actually I feel like Deadpool had better jokes), Power Rangers (with the whole transformation sequence), generic family movie.
Just like other reviewes said, the main character doesn't actually control the plot. Things just happens to him and he goes along with them. This might be an unpopular opinion but the family scenes are just too much and too many. So much that the movie feels like is more about his family rather than him. From what I know, the title of the movie is "Blue Beetle" not "Blue Beetle's Family". Nothing bad in portraying a strong family bond but this is over the top. Obnoxious uncle who just should be the supporting character not try to take over the role of the main character. I like his energy, he's the conspirationist of the family, anti-goverment and such. Still, doesn't make him less obnoxious.
Very ambiguous love relationship. You really can't tell if the BB's love interest is into him or not. Are they actually lovers? Is he friendzoned? I mean he clearly is into her but is she into him as well?!? Besides the kiss at the end (I think?!?) the movie doesn't let us know these things or reveal much.
I also wanted more action scenes than just 2-3 in the whole movie.
I rate it 6/10.
Control (2022)
A pretty solid movie
Given the low ratings I have to give 10 stars.
Otherwise the movie is 6 - 6.5.
The movie is clearly inspired by the game with the same name. Maybe they didn't credited it because they don't want to be sued for copyright infringement (?), I guess?
There's nothing wrong with that but I just wanted to get that out of the way.
The movie is pretty solid, considering it had a low budget. I really don't understand what people are even expecting from this movie since they give low ratings most of them.
But the movie isn't bad. So keep that in mind when if you want to watch it.
The plot of the movie is pretty simple:
a women wakes up in a sound-proof room with no means of escape and it's forced to partake in a series of tests that will develop her telekinesis powers. Between the tests we see what appears to be memories of her and her daughter Eve. I don't want to spoil any further so I am going to just say this: it has an open ending. Kinda. We know what happens with the women at the end but we are still left with many questions unanswered and I am not going to asks those questions because that will spoil the ending.
I liked the acting, cinematography, sound design although they really drag that song alot. Now that I am thinking about it, maybe the song could be a clue to what's going on...
My only complaints are the cheesy hand movements (I guess they used that to make the powers seem more interesting) and the dream-like sections of the movie. They just dragged too much with those. I mean I understand that they didn't want to make a long-feature film but still... The movie would have worked perfectly fine without them. And they really don't add anything to the story.
I do recommend this movie. It's clearly not any awards worthy but like I said it's a solid movie. It's not crappy but it's not a masterpiece either. You can give it a watch.
Nope (2022)
Not really bad but misees the mark to be a great movie completely
I am going to start by saying that the movie drags way too long without saying much. Well it does say something but if you really wanted to make a movie about desperately trying to become rich by becoming famous for a couple of minutes on TV maybe the director should had made a different movie. Just saying.
The movie focuses too much on world/character building before it becomes watchable (?). The first hour constantly just makes you wonder if anything interesting will happen at all. And once it does happen, you'll lose all interest in the plot.
So, instead of this ridiculous and stupid plot of just trying to become rich, how about make this mistery movie instead of a horror and
sci-fi (?) one. Don't reveal the antagonist and don't explain how it works. Just let the audience wonder what's going on.
That would have been such a great movie.
And to my disappointment, I really though that was the case. Hell, even the IMDB synopsis just freaking hints to that, to a greater mistery.
There's no mistery folks. Actually the only mistery here is some questions that remain unanswered. And for the sake of spoilers, I won't revealv them although other reviewers here did, just that. Irony makes the fact that there's no IMDB FAQ opened for this movie, so you can't even ask those questions here.
Anyway, don't bother with this movie. Seriously, don't. This isn't a horror movie and again, even less a mistery one. Just a mediocre one with a stupid title and good actors in it. That's about it.
Ryû to sobakasu no hime (2021)
One of the best anime movies that I had ever seen in my entire life!
Everything about this was absolutley stunning, story, voice acting, animation, music etc. I loved everything in this movie!!! It really made my cry at the end!!! I never cried because of any movies before! Yeah, that's how great it was! I didn't watched it in the cinema but non-the less, I coulnd't let go of the movie, I had to watch it from start to finish!
I can't even describe how it makes me feel! It just makes me want to be part of that universe and to know those characters personally and just be friends with them.
It makes me longing for something I can't have invthis reality. God, it makes me want to be part of that Universe!
Please, don't listen or believe to anyone who rate this masterpiece anything lower than 9 or 10. They're incapable of appreciating true art.
The world is just upside down. People rate highly crappy/mediocre movies and downvote to hell masterpieces like this. It's so stupid.
With all my heart, I recommend so much this movie! Please watch it!
Mad God (2021)
Fever dream
The only reason this movie intrigued me, was the cover art (poster) and synopsys. I thought it might have a story or at least a direction. Unfortunately, it has none of those. Yes, it does have a main character in the first part of the movie but his story just goes nowhere. The second part simply goes nowhere. I did liked the costumes, some of the visuals/scenery and the acting of some characters, but that's about it. In fact this is my second worst movie ever seen, first being Serenity. Only someone on acid or someone who had a fever dream can imagine a movie like this. Yes, I do enjoy from time to time a horror movie. I don't mind gore much. But this movie just goes beyond and above any limit. In good faith, I simply cannot recommend this movie. But if gorey meaty scatty nonsense is for you, sure go and watch it. Otherwise just avoid it all togheder. I feel like someone should refund my time wasted on this... garbage movie. Sorry, I just don't know how to describe it otherwise. Should had stopped when my gut told me to, which was at the beginning of the movie. Worst part is that I didn't even expected to be a stop - motion movie. Don't listen to the IMDB score or the reviews that give it 8 or 10 Just do yourself a favor and skip. It's better for your own sanity.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
This is a Multiverse movie well done!
The movie itself doesn't take itself too seriously and neither should you! It has plenty of absurd jokes and moments and some of these might turn you off. But please, don't let those ruin the movie for you! Do watch it with an open mind. This is really a great movie! I really can't say anything about it without spoiling for you but you should give it a watch!
Also compared to the Multiverse of Madness, this movie shows that if you know how to spend your money, a great movie can be made! Obviously there's more to that but this shows that you can spend alot of money and your movie can still turn out to be mediocre at best.
Like I said in the title, this is how a Multiverse movie should look like! They really captured really well the essence of each universe shown in the movie and this is exactly how Marvel should have done it!
Again, words are few to actually appreciate this movie!
Green Lantern (2011)
This movie deserve a better review score!
Well I will be quite direct: Pros: Loved the actors and their acting; story of green lanterns is well presented; is funny isn't very serious and I don't think it shouldn't; Parallax is a bit scary but is fine with me, maybe this it should be.
Cons: I think the whole story shouldn't switched back and forth from Earth to Oa, I think it should focus more on the hero theme, and maybe a bit less than humane one. Sinestro had no reason to become a villain at least that is what movie is telling us, but maybe it was his personal choice I guess.
Overall like I said in the title this movie should have better score because he deserves it. It teaches us how to overcome fear, how to deal with it even in difficult situation. I think that's what people should know about this movie. People should take this movie more lightly and not to criticize so hard this movie. It is a good movie.
Divergent (2014)
It could be better but it was enjoyable!
I saw many bad reviews about this movie and I kinda feel bad for that. I enjoyed this movie that many consider a crap. I loved the story, loved the actors even almost all of them weren't quite emotional, the scenery of movie (they were in some cases amazing). I expected that this movie would be a really hard sci-fi movie (at least from the poster) but was extremely light at this part, the action was light too and it wasn't till almost the end of the movie where it was not so much. T think this movie was more a psychological one than action or sci-fi one. The end of the movie I think was a bit rush but in rest all was natural to me. At least that is how I felt. The only thing I didn't liked it was the lack of emotions (or very few emotion) from actors. Maybe this movie isn't like the book and maybe people are just too mean. I quite enjoyed this movie I didn't felt I wasted my time.
