Plynace wiezowce (2013)
Boring
Despite of its bright and well planned cinematography, this movie is a bore. The main actor is attractive and a true handsome man, but its character and the script can't help the viewer to empathize with its (supposed) inner conflict. The story is too much unlikely when showing two men expressing their love in a physically way out in public places, while everybody around express some level of homophobia. Hard to believe. Another weird feature are the sex scenes: the hetero ones are more colorful, longer and diverse than the few gay ones. Lacking a true original script, "Floating Skyscrapers" is another trivial gay themed movie, but with such good technical and artistic resources it could be a special one.
Cuatro lunas (2014)
More than 4 reasons to watch this movie
This is one of the most enjoyable gay themed movies I've watched. In "Cuatro Lunas" everything is near perfection - the plots of the four stories, the characters, the actors, the music, the editing and the cinematography. The direction is excellent as well. But what really excels is its power to grab and thrill the viewer with stories that are as simple as those of their own life. While mainstream cinema need to thrill with fantastic, complex and sometimes implausible plots, "Cuatro Lunas" shows life as simple, strange and painful as it really is for each one of us. This is one of the 5 best gay themed movies I've watched, and I've already watched a bunch of them.
Madagascar Skin (1995)
The power of a pullover
More than a story about the rising of a relationship, it relates how love can born between two souls ostracized by society. A love whose creators are Loneliness and Despair. This movie is somewhat intriguing and unclear in its meaning, but it is certainly not a "gay movie". Intentionally or not, it lacks some empathy with viewers who can't stand the vision of gross and distasteful images. My empathy with the plot and characters didn't show up at first, neither during the"climax" of the "love story". Only the last minutes were rewarding, as a key for understanding and appreciating the whole.
Good performances and a fine direction made a sober and subtle picture, one not for mainstream taste.
