Slam (2008)
A good time waster
I love watching non-Holywood movies, especially when they come from Asia, because they have a special impression on me. This cute little movie was a pleasant surprise and, both my kids and I, loved it! When it comes to family movies I watch them only because of my kids, because I am a fan of different genres, but Slam was a good time waster. The action in the movie is great, young actors were OK, some of them were more convincing than the others, and the story was nice. I would recommend it to the audiences of all ages.
Olympus: The Lexicon (2015)
Trouble in Athens
I like this episode but I still have some problems with some of the things that were included in it. The best part of the whole episode was Hero's emotions that were so much darker than ever before since the start of the series. To top it off the sadness really washed over his face and you could feel what the character was really going through. I just had to mention this because I have never seen such amazing acting before in my entire life. It's strange how one spectacular performance can make the difference between a good episode and a bad episode. One of the downsides of this episode though is that I feel uncertain how well the other actors matched that of the one playing hero in their performance. Queen Medea was top-notch ruthless as usual, which was perfect. However I feel like Oracle's character was much more powerful in the previous episodes than she was in this one. My only problem now is that I don't like the opening of the episode and I believe it should have been stronger. Personally speaking I would have started with something explosive like the war in Athens, and someone getting seriously wounded.
Altar (2014)
The Alchemist's Horror House
Altar is a decent horror to watch and unlike the ones in the past. The idea of being buried alive or bats flying around doesn't play on people's nerves anymore. Since we as human beings have become more intelligent now, and times have changed it takes a lot more to scare us now. However the basic goal of any horror is to frighten the audience and make the story suspenseful for them. Well the movie Altar does just that and it succeeds where most movies fail to entertain the audience. It gave me a little scare here and a little scare there, but also kept me interested. What I like the most is that the element of fear was rising slowly in the movie, until it escalated to the point of no return. There are only two things I would change if I could: the alchemy in the story. I mean come on, we have seen that in a lot of other films in the past like fantasy films. I have to say the diagrams are interesting though and I like how witchcraft is mentioned and potions.
Olympus (2015)
True Heroes of Olympus
This is an excellent series of thirteen episodes of the mythology drama Olympus. The story is set and takes place in an ancient and fascinating world of gods, goddesses, cyclopes, and humans. This intriguing story concentrates on the transformation of the main protagonist called Hero as he changes from a fresh-faced and raw young man into a ruthless powerful and true leader of man. He becomes this way through the dramatic experiences of love, betrayal, disappointment, and exile. Towards the end he he will be destined for success, and it's foretold that he will become a match for the gods themselves, going further than any other mortal has before him. I never get tired of these stories.
Jack Vale Offline (2015)
Entertaining!
Been following Jack for years on YouTube and he has always kept it clean which I admire, but as a fan of the trashy reality shows too, I have to admit that this was refreshing :).
I've seen three episodes of the show so far and enjoyed them all. I wish it was longer. Sucks that it's only a half hour. The comedy is excellent and I certainly enjoy being able to laugh at all the funny moments that are there. I believe that the best comedies are the ones that can keep us laughing. Everyone including myself enjoys pranks and Jack is so good at this. My favorite episode is the one in which he says that he wants to steal a purse out loud knowing there are women with purses and an officer nearby. Ha ha, I thought he was going to be arrested at first. Afterwards he looked at people and the reactions on their faces after what he said. They either walked away, or turned around. This one about stealing purses is the one that made me laugh fit to bust for some reason. It's still got me cracking up even now as I write about it! It takes a true talent to be a comedian and especially a prankster.
