Revenge (2017)
Who cares about realism?
Is it realistic? No, but if you want realism maybe don't watch 90% of horror. As a takedown of sexism in movies, especially horror films, it's amazing and it's a lot of fun watching the hunters become the hunted. It deserves a much higher rating, but I suppose people need total immersion. If you really wanted to get into it, you could argue that the entire premise is hard to believe. You could also argue that Chucky isn't realistic, or Halloween, or Friday the Thirteenth, but the one all about feminism seemingly has to be note perfect despite the fact that most of the improbable moments are metaphors of rebirth. If you like revenge films that actually care about their female characters, you'll love this one.
Skinamarink (2022)
Scariest movie I've ever seen.
Look, I'm going to start off and say that a good chunk of this movie is boring. The boredom is almost as much of a character as the house itself, because that makes the scares that much stronger. In my twenty-five years, I have never seen something that's caused me to feel disturbed for days after, but this has succeeded in that.
It's supposed to evoke childhood fears and make you feel vulnerable, and it more than nails that.
I especially recommend it if you're a fan of analog YouTube horror such as Mandela Catalogue, because it has that strong feel to it, with a lot of shots of the house at awkward angles while your eyes strain to see through the shadows.
Family Guy: HTTPete (2018)
Falls flat
It seriously felt like watching a Ben Garrison cartoon come to life. I know that Family Guy is meant to spoof everything, but this felt like a millennial killed Seth Macfarlane's parents or something, and the worst part is being unable to call it out without every other commenter calling you a triggered snowflake. The latter half of the episode was far more tolerable, especially the Six Second Talk Show, and I wish more of the episode had been focused on how awful Silicone Valley is, as well as stupid Internet trends. Anyway, stick through the opening escapades if you want typical Family Guy humor.
OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes: Let's Not Be Skeletons (2018)
Great metaphor
It's an amazing metaphor for gun control. I wish more children's shows talked about it to really show how dangerous guns are, because the way we can change things is by talking to the you get generations.
Like Dogs (2021)
It was good until it wasn't.
Ignoring the fact that the Incel character gets way too much screentime, there are an almost insane amount of plot holes. At the end, there's literally only one character you end up caring about at the end, only one you hope survives, and it's definitely not Lisa.
Black Christmas (2019)
It's a bit bad, but it's better than it's being given credit for.
While some of the moments are a bit clunky, this movie is actually not bad, especially if you don't compare it to the original or the remake, because it's only Black Christmas in name.
Siempre Bruja (2019)
Really messed up black history month on this one.
A black witch goes to modern times and falls in love with her slave master. The writers couldn't be more ignorant if they tried.
