Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
Hmmm...I usually like these films, but not this one.
I usually like the type of films that are off beat (See my vote history), yet this one just didn't catch me. I don't know why, I see how everyone else likes it and everything. I think the film "Millions" should be in its spot. But there it is, sitting in the top 250. It really just didn't have the cinephotagraphy that I expected and the plot wasn't very good (I know that that's what everybody's saying was the best part; I beg to differ). Also, I hate how this movie was advertised to be a comedy. Especially with Jim Carry (although I have to admit he did a great job in the crossover). I thought this would be more like a thing where the main character played by Jim Carry loses every memory of everything bad that ever happened to him and so he walks the streets like an idiot thinking nothing bad's ever going to happen. So, I was geared up for a comedy and got more of an abstract type of film. Prehaps it was all in the advertising.
Everybody Loves Raymond: The Last Laugh (2005)
Gave a great overview
This "movie" gave a great overview of "Everybody Loves Raymond" over the years and gave us a little bit of insight into the cast. It also explains why they expected to end Raymond twice before: I think once in 1998, and once in 2000, but failed both times. It was a great way to lead up into the final episode for its TV debut. Some people may think it was a little repetitive, but I think it needed to be. It's not something you want to watch as a whole: bits and pieces will do for this show. I think this was just for a one-time only TV debut for a preparation towards the last episode of "Everybody Loves Raymond", but it may show up on TBS again, sort of like the equivalent of "The Seinfeld Story". So in conclusion, it was perfect for what it was made to do: put the viewer into a sorrow and giving position for the bitter-sweet ending of "Everybody Loves Raymond".
A Day Without a Mexican (2004)
You need to understand it to enjoy it
In order to enjoy this movie, you must have a very "out of the box" viewpoint. You also need to know something of Mexico's culture, and be able to understand it. If you've never been further than 10 miles from your home and went to the same school for twelve years, you will not like or understand this movie. I have lived in Mexico for two years, and I understood and loved the movie. This movie is in no way prejudice, as it is a COMEDY, and it is for the use of entertaining more than persuading. I also think that one needs to be accepting of the movie, and wanting to give it a chance before they will like it. This is why I enjoyed this movie.
Napoleon Dynamite (2004)
Great Movie-People who say it doesn't have a plot are wrong. Every movie has plot.
I believe Napolean Dynamite is the best movie I ever saw. I gave it 10 of 10, hands down, my number 1 movie. I'm obsessed with Napolean Dynamite-I know the dance all the way through, I dressed up as him for Halloween, and so on and so forth. I can't explain why I liked it, because I can't single out one thing-I liked it all. The comedy, the acting, etc. I dislike how people are saying it has no plot. Others say it didn't need a plot. I think anybody who thinks a movie dosen't have a plot hasn't given it enough thought. Every movie has a plot. The word plot is defined as what happens. So even if nothing happens, then something's happening-that something would be nothing. So even a blank screen technically has a plot. If you agree or disagree with me, or just want to chat about the movie (or quiz me-I've seen the movie 15 3/4 times, so you probably can't fool me) please feel free to e-mail me. I will not accept anymore e-mails after Christmas.
