Talvar (2015)
Must watch of the year.
Before going to watch this movie, everyone might have speculations, preconceptions, and many thoughts as to what the real thing happened. This is a true story which took place and was the talk of the country for years. Some have anticipation of what might be the truth, some have pre-decided views of what happened and some who didn't know what happened.
Coming back to the movie, it consists of all the ingredients to make it a blockbuster. A murder, many suspects and absurd local police work results into special police to take up the case. Enter Irrfan and the whole case takes a new angle. Newer thoughts are given to the case as to what might have happened with help of logic.
The major thing about this movie is its logic as to what might have truly happened. Some dialogues are comical and really make you see the funny side of some situations. As the movie ended I wondered whether what might have happened because of the twist shown in the movie. But nonetheless this movie has been made with precision and sticks to its main topic.
The only disappointing thing, perhaps, was Tabu not getting much of a role. For a powerful actor like Tabu she should have got a much better role than she got. Irrfan is spot on and is wonderful in every scene and so is Konkona.
Verdict: A must watch even if you know or not know what happened in reality.
Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
A great watch, don't miss this one.
First things first, I'll confess that i didn't see the trailer. So i had no idea, no expectations from this movie whatsoever. A spontaneous plan resulting into watching this flick was nothing more i could ask for. If you're watching it for the first time, be ready to get blown away.
The movie opens with Max(and his "that was deep" dialogue) eating a two-headed lizard. WOW. That was something. You might think that. Then from the next minute the action begins and results into a cat and mouse chase.
Max, played by Tom Hardy, is a road warrior who is haunted by his past. Imperator Furiosa, played by Charlize Theron, does a fantastic job. Her role is flawless and so is her performance. The big chase comes due to Furiosa and an astonishing chase results from it. Casting both Tom and Charlize are excellent decisions as they do it well.
Speaking about the chase, Immortan Joe, the warlord, takes his warrior boys and also takes help from neighboring farms. Played by Hugh Keayes-Bryne, he adds a touch of an eerie-dominating warlord who wants to rule the world.
Nux, played by Nicolas Hoult, also does a good job of supporting Max and Furiosa. His maniacal excitement of going to Valhalla makes you feel he's gone nuts as he keeps on talking about it. For you, the chase in the first half will not be over as there is a chase in the second half. Add to the chase lots of guns, fire, modded vehicles, flying warrior boys, old ladies with shooting and fighting skills(you'll be surprised), Max with a plan and the booty(the reason for all this chase).
The story isn't much, but the action scenes and sequences make up more than for it. At the end you would be impressed by the action, but not by the storyline.
My word: Watch it once for the action, stories aren't original these days so we wouldn't miss them much.
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
A must watch, at least once.
Despite many number of trailers, rumors etc, this movie offers much more than what was its trailers. From minute one the movie engages you. Action lovers won't be disappointed even a little bit and the movie stays thick in its action as well as dialogues.
The characters portrayed are great, especially Robert Downey Jr., but the best scenes of the movie belong to Hulk. Scenes between Captian America, Ironman and Thor are great with perfectly timed dialogues, while teamwork between Thor and Captian America works well.
Hawkeye and Black Widow do their job well, with Hawkeye surprising you a little bit. Introduction of new characters will make you excited at first, but then you'll feel they lack true purpose of what they have to do with two of them shown like kids, and one coming at the end.
Ultron is good as villain, but he brings nothing new to the plot.
The plot will sound similar, but the graphics and portrayal of it is much better. Tech geeks will love it for sure, even those who don't favor too much computing will also like it. The first half drags a little, while the second half has many surprises.
Addition of romance in between might be rather awkward in this action flick, but towards the end you will be surprised for sure. Talking about the end, you will have mixed emotions and will definitely debate on whether you liked the first part or not.
Final Verdict: Funny scenes are really funny, action scenes are really the best, but at the end some of you may feel this might just be a one time watch. But do watch it at least once, not for the story but for the action.
