The Devil's Double (2011)
An intense and contrasting movie
The movie keeps you on your seat at all times, the role that Dominic Cooper plays is masterful making the contrast of both characters. The story could have been a little more accurate and with more shape. I give it a 7 out of 10.
The movie is based on the true story of Latif Yahia, a man who was forced to become the double of Saddam Hussein's son, Uday Hussein, and who lived a nightmare of violence, lust and corruption. Dominic Cooper plays both characters with great skill, showing their differences in personality, gestures and accents. The actor manages to convey the anguish of Latif and the madness of Uday, creating a constant tension on the screen.
The story is well told, although sometimes it feels a bit confusing and superficial. I would have liked it to go deeper into the historical and political context of Iraq, as well as the motivations and emotions of the secondary characters. The movie has a good pace and a good setting, recreating the luxury and opulence of Saddam Hussein's regime, as well as the violence and horror that accompanied it.
In summary, the movie is a political thriller that catches you from the beginning and shows you an unknown facet of the recent history of Iraq. Dominic Cooper shines in his double role and proves his talent as an actor. The movie has some flaws in its script and direction, but in general it is a good proposal that is worth watching.
Pelican Blood (2010)
I enjoyed this movie because it was very entertaining, fast-paced and well-acted, although it is not for everyone.
The movie tells the story of Nikko, a birdwatcher who is obsessed with finding a rare pelican. He also has a troubled relationship with Stevie, a suicidal girl who he met online. The movie explores the themes of obsession, love and death in a realistic and intense way. The movie has a lot of action and suspense, as Nikko and Stevie go on a road trip across Europe, facing danger and violence. The actors do a great job portraying their complex and flawed characters, especially Harry Treadaway as Nikko and Emma Booth as Stevie.
Pelican Blood is a movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It is a dark and thrilling drama that shows the extremes of human emotions. I recommend it to anyone who likes this kind of movies, but be warned that it is not for the faint-hearted. I give it 8 stars out of 10.
The Humbling (2014)
A confusing movie but with a lot of courage
I did not like how this movie was treated, without a coherent script where there were characters who had no senses, but the background of the film was good, with heavy actors like Al Pacino and Greta, I am a close fan of her but in this movie, I think it lacked more presentation where I could show more of its rudeness. It's ironic but seeing the character of Al Pacino left me confused and thought it was a documentary by Al Pacino himself
My Old Lady (2014)
Film Conmovedara
Conmovedara film is a very dense, at no time has any point of comedy, Kline can produce some of this but it is very subtle, phenomenal Scott Thomas, an actress who makes you take the character and be there, well, the best of the top three, The film the medium is a little slow but as you can marvel at the beautiful scenery of Paris that is worth. In short a movie that is cute to see, with a trio of actors in very good standard and a script that perhaps lacked a little more strength to Englebert in history. I recommend to people more than 40 years, I think they will enjoy it as much better, does not mean not enjoy and that I have 32, but more for them.
Little Accidents (2014)
A light film and a little slow
I like this movie first half but gets a little slow after the end moves and one is attracted to the characters, feeling part of them. Although the story is somewhat predictable but no less shirt. Here what I did not like is that there was more connection between Amos and I think Diane was very artificial that connection between the two. Overall it is a film that is well done with good photography and good believable characters, the plot is very well focused in history.
Actoralmente is very good, very well-chosen cast their director also performed a very good script, with some details but not generally perceived.
