NCIS: Sydney (2023)
A huge disappointment
I love the original NCIS, NCIS LA, and NCIS Hawaii. I never really like NCIS New Orleans, sound it dull.
This new NCIS Sydney is bad! Most of the acting parts are dull at best. There's no chemistry between the main characters and the story is almost boring. The only exceptions to this is the cute little scientist and the medical examiner. They have character.
Like with the original NCIS, it needs great actors and story. This one has neither. I almost think this was done to just get something on the air. No creativity, no originality, no chemistry!
I forced myself to watch all of the fist episode but won't be watching any more.
Heart of Stone (2023)
Better than I expected
I've seen a lot of people give this a 5 or 6 which I think is quite under-rated. Yes, it was a little long but really only had pone spot that I felt was not pertinent to the story.
The action scenes are well choreographed and entertaining. The acting met the requirements of the show. The writing was good. I didn't find anything that stood out as bad or mediocre.
I did enjoy one or two plot twists that were not predictable. And, some of the action scenes made me think I was watching a Mission Impossible movie.
I'll definitely watch it again. But as someone who watches a lot of movies, this was entertaining and the time flew by.
9-1-1: Lone Star (2020)
Started good, now just a soap opera
I've been watching this show since it started. I like the characters a lot! However, this 2022/2023 season has turned it into a soap opera. I t has so much don-911 drama in it now it almost unrecognizable.
Now, it's only about a gay wedding, a kid that may not walk again, the captains brother who has a rare disease, a possible marriage, and a gay couple adopting children.
Really? What about any of that has do to with emergencies? This is the typical format for a soap opera, right?
Unless this next season comes out immediately in a better format (better writing) and a lot less personal drama, I'll be dropping the show.
A Tourist's Guide to Love (2023)
Delightful in every way
I hadn't seen anything with Rachael Leigh Cook in a while. When she was younger she was cute. Now, today, she is beautiful. She was perfect for this role. Every actor in this movie is great, I couldn't find a single person I'd replace. And, for me, that says a lot as I'm as critical as they come when it comes to movies.
This movie is a Romcom at it's best. It's not the pure Hallmark formula that has been so consistent, but I think it may be better.
The scenery in this it absolutely beautiful. I knew Vietnam was pretty but had no idea it was this gorgeous!
There's beautiful scenery, comedy, romance, a few quirky people, and even a little intrigue.
I'll be watching this again, soon.
Superman & Lois (2021)
Strong year 1 and 2, bad year 3
I've been watching this since the beginning. The first couple years were good. There were good guys and bad guys. Lots of action and some personal drama but acceptable. They had a theme and a story to get invested in.
However, year 3 has turned into a soap opera! Come on, now it's all about Lois and her cancer. It's no longer a super hero show, now it's a drama.
Do they really think that's what people want to see from a super hero show? If I want to watch that sort of thing, I'd watch one of the many medical shows.
This show has lost it's way and I just stopped watching it. My wife who normally doesn't like super hero shows actually watched this with me, until now. Even she says "it's jumped the shark."
Crown Prince of Christmas (2022)
Just not quite there
Cindy Busby was always one of my favorites when she was on Hallmark movies. She's cute, perky, quirky, and always entertaining. And, here movies were always endearing, cute, and funny.
But this one? The writing, acting, and overall appeal is just not there. It's not Cindy's fault, she was great as always. But everything else? Yikes!
The plot and story is completely predictable. It's one of those movies that I kept checking to see how much time was left so it would be over.
Other than Cindy, I didn't feel the character's parts. Just not a Hallmark by any means! For those who love Cindy, it may be OK. But it wasn't for me.
This becoming a pattern with GAC movies that I'm not liking at all!
Stranger Things (2016)
Each season gets worse
Just watched season 4 and what a dissappointment! There's actually 3 to 4 separate stories going on a\t the same time while the main theme gets about 20% of the actual running time.
