An excellent movie that avoid the western cliché, bringing a Theatrical Drama about reason, justice and piety.

Everything works perfectly, in terms of sound, ambiance and plot. Exception made by the role of Mary Beth Hughes. The protagonist's frustrated romance does'nt add nothing relevant to presents Gil Carter's personality.

The letter reading scene is absolutelly beautiful and very meaningful, totally worth the movie. This Western deserves more recognition from the overall public.

I enjoyed it and strongly recommend you to watch this if you're an horror movie fan. Why I rated a 5? The whole scenario is stablished fast and you don't need too much information to get into the plot. The actors were very convincing, even Thomas Jane fails to sustain the drama, Marcia Gay Harden were impressive and carry the movie. The CGI are outdated, but are not so significant to the film. It remain good in 2017. Soundtrack is generic and forgettable. But what hurts more here is the direction on the scenes that require some action. Some of the last ones were terrible. The movie has a great start, but decay in the end, probably because the original material has great ideas but the producers here tryed too hard to surprise the audience and lost the track.

I enjoyed this movie because of its a fast paced story, which presents the best and the worst charactheristics in the movies at the time. "It" works very well as a comedy and a romance, mainly by the roles of Clara Bow and William Austin. They absolutely have "It", but Antonio Moreno in the other hand is just an OK player. There is nothing to add about other production content since everything else in this movie is simple.
