Halloween: Resurrection (2002)
I'm just going to pretend this movie never existed
Halloween is the best in the series. Halloween H20 is the 2nd best. Halloween 2 is the 3rd best. Halloween 4: the Return of Michael Myers is the 4th best. Halloween: the Curse of Michael Myers is the 4th worst. Halloween 3: Season of the Witch is the 3rd worst. Halloween 5 is the 2nd worst. And Halloween: Resurrection is the worst in the series. I don't know why this movie was even made. Michael Myers was decapitated at the end of Halloween H20. The acting was terrible. there wasn't one original death. And since Laurie Strode died at the beginning of this movie, there are none of the original characters remaining other than Michael Myers himself. And there are so many things that could've been better. 1. the title would've made more sense if Laurie had succeeded in killing Michael. Then he really would've resurrected for the rest of the film. 2. They should've kept the original opening with the home video of the Myers family before Michael killed Judith. 3. They should've gotten a better cast. Even Jamie Lee Curtis was bad in this one. This movie is just plain stupid. Anyway, I'll be reviewing the Friday the 13th movies next. A couple of them were actually dumber than this movie as hard as it is to believe.
Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998)
Best Halloween sequel since Halloween 2
Halloween is the best in the series. And Halloween H20: 20 years later is the 2nd best. This is a great movie and is just barely inferior to the original. Donald Pleasance doesn't reprise his role as Dr. Loomis in this one due to his death in 1995. However, Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as Laurie Strode. The acting in the movie is great. Even L.L. Cool J was good in this movie. I can't believe the people who hate this movie. What's there to hate? The acting is good. The script is great. The deaths are good too. My favorite death scene is that guy at the beginning of the movie. He get's a roller skate shoved through his head. And don't listen to the nurses at the beginning of Halloween Resurrection. Laurie did decapitate Michael Myers in this movie.
Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995)
At least it's better than Halloween 5
Halloween is the best in the series. Halloween H20 is the 2nd best. Halloween 2 is the 3rd best. Halloween 4: the Return of Michael Myers is the 4th best. And Halloween: the Curse of Michael Myers is the 4th worst. This movie is very underrated. The acting is good in this movie. Donald Pleasance gives a much better performance than the one he gave in Halloween 5. But it wasn't as good as the performance he gave in Halloween 1, 2, or 4. And I think Brian Andrews would've been great if he had reprised his role as Tommy Doyle. But Paul Rudd was good too. And I think J.C. Brandy was a better Jamie Lloyd than Danielle Harris. The deaths were good too. Except Barry Simm's death. It was too similar to Annie's death in the original. Debra's death scene was the best. She was hit in the face with an axe. Anyway, don't listen to people who say this movie sux. Trust me, it doesn't.
Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989)
Crappy movie
Halloween is the best in the series. Halloween H20 is the 2nd best. Halloween 2 is the 3rd best. Halloween 4: the Return of Michael Myers is the 4th best. Halloween: the Curse of Michael Myers is the 4th worst. Halloween 3: Season of the Witch is the 3rd worst. And Halloween 5 is the 2nd worst. That's not good. In fact, it's terrible. It's not worth the buying price or even the rental price. Kind of like Halloween 3. But the difference is if you see Halloween 3 on TV, you should watch it. But, if you see Halloween 5, change the channel. The acting in this one is terrible, even Donald Pleasance isn't good in this movie. Other than that, the plot is stupid, the deaths aren't good. The only death in this movie that's slightly good is Rachel's death. And she's only stabbed in the heart with a knife. Don't see this one.
Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988)
I liked it
Halloween is the best in the series. Halloween H20 is the 2nd best. Halloween 2 is the 3rd best. And Halloween 4: the Return of Michael Myers is the 4th best. That's pretty good. Anyway, Donald Pleasance reprises his role as Dr. Loomis in this film. Jamie Lee Curtis doesn't reprise her role as Laurie Strode in this one. Instead, we get a young Danielle Harris. She plays Laurie's daughter, Jamie Lloyd. (If you saw Halloween 2, you'll remember that Laurie Strode and Jimmy Lloyd fell in love at the end of the film). Apparently, Laurie and Jimmy were killed in a car crash and Jamie was adopted by the Carruthers family. I think my favorite death in this film was the electrician's death scene. He is thrown into the power lines. Anyway, the film is not worth buying. But, it's well worth renting. One more thing, don't see Halloween 5. For the love of god, don't see it. Just see this one.
Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)
I prefer Michael Myers
Halloween is the best in the series. Halloween H20 is the 2nd best. Halloween 2 is the 3rd best. Halloween 4: the Return of Michael Myers is the 4th best. Halloween: the Curse of Michael Myers is the 4th worst. Halloween 3: Season of the Witch is the 3rd worst. But, that's not as bad as it sounds. Although H3 is not worth buying or maybe even renting, it can still entertain you. The villain in this film is no Michael Myers. The male lead is a lousy character compared to Dr. Loomis. Same with the new female character and Laurie Strode. The boring characters and the actors who play them aren't the only problem. The plot is kind of stupid and the special effects are cheesy. But, the plot is original and the people in this one aren't as stupid as the people in the Halloween films with Michael Myers. So, I give it a 5/10. Average at best. But also average at least.
Halloween II (1981)
3rd best in the series
Halloween is the best in the series. Halloween H20 comes in 2nd. And Halloween 2 comes in 3rd. That's still not bad. In fact, Halloween 2 is worth renting. Maybe even worth buying. The acting is good. The director knows what he's doing. It's hard to believe this was directed by Rick Rosthental. He also made Halloween Resurrection, which was a sad excuse for a movie. Don't see it. Anyway, in some areas, the film even improves from the original. For example, the deaths are better in this one. My favorite death was Michael's death(I'm not sure if it counts because he wakes up in Halloween 4: the Return of Michael Myers). Michael catches on fire and it barely affects him. That was awesome. If you've seen the original, rent this one as soon as possible.
Halloween (1978)
Perfect slasher film
What a great film this is. Even though it resaulted in the slasher era. Donald Pleasance and Jamie Lee Curtis are at their best in this movie. So are Nancy Kyes and P.J.Soles. And there is no doubt that Michael Myers might just be the best serial killer ever. He's better than Freddy Kreuger and Jason Voorhees combined. And unlike today's slasher films, Halloween tries to scare you instead of just making you vomit in disgust. The death scenes are good too. My favorite death is Bob's death. He is impaled on a wooden door. Annie and Lynda's deaths are pretty good too. I recommend Halloween to anyone who really likes horror movies. And the good sequels are Halloween 2, Halloween 4: the Return of Michael Myers, and Halloween H20: 20 years later. The decent sequels are Halloween 3: Season of the Witch and Halloween: the Curse of Michael Myers. And the terrible sequels are Halloween 5 and Halloween: Resurrection. I just wanted to let you know which ones to watch.
The Shining (1980)
Kicks the book's ass
That's right. The movie is better than the book. Don't get me wrong, I love the book. But the movie is just so much better. This film has Jack Nicholson and Shelly Duvall at their best. (I haven't seen Scatman Crothers and obviously Danny Lloyd in anything else.) Some of the ideas used in this movie are better than the ones used in the book. But I already talked about those in my comment on the mini series. But, I missed a few. The film is shot at a better location than where the mini series was shot. And the REDRUM scenes are creepier than those in the book. So if you're looking for a great movie, get Stanley Kubrick's The Shining. But count on having nightmares every night for 3 weeks
The Shining (1997)
Pathetic at best
I loved the book. I also loved the movie. But the mini series just plain sucked. I don't care if it's closer to the book than Kubricks version. Everything else about this was terrible. Mainly the acting. Especially Courtland Mead. He was a horrible Danny. Danny Lloyd played Danny in the Kubrick version and did a great job. And Steven Weber isn't half the Jack that Jack Nicholson was. The only good performance in this atrocity was Rebecca De Mornay as Wendy and she still wasn't as good of a Wendy as Shelly Duvall(who did the worst performance in Stanley Kubrick's version). Hate to break it to all you die hard Stephen King fans, but Kubrick changed the ideas for the better. Jack uses an Axe in Kubrick's version instead of a mallet. An Axe is a much better murder weapon than a mallet. And the maze in Kubrick's version(which was cool and beautiful) was better than the hedge animals(which were cheesy and lame). What about the old lady in the bathtub that attacks Danny? The one in Kubrick's version was scarier. But I'd get in the tub with her before I watch this waste of 4 hours again.
