A Haunting in Venice (2023)
lamentable
I don t understand why Mr Branagh persists in directing such lamentable films on Agatha Christie who must be turning on her grave .Everything is so ridiculous the atmosphere , the violence , the sets , the horror and above all the terrible acting of unknown actors. If you compare with David Suchet portraying Hercules Poirot or even Peter Ustinov in the unforgetable movie Death on the NIle we are at an extreme distance. I think it is time Mr Branagh returns to Shakespeare and abandons once for all Mrs Christie novels. Unless he decides to film the death of Hercules Poirot in the book entitled Curtain.
Murder on the Orient Express (2017)
Murder of Agatha Christie
Please excuse my English
I read with a lot of pleasure A C since i was a teenager , I enjoyed the first version with such a charismatic casting and a mysterious
atmosphere that respected A C s universe .
Alas this film is disappointing. First of all , the opening in Jerusalem is disturbing ,ridiculous and -déplacé- The end is so theatrical , so melodramatic that one seems to attend a Shakespearian tragedy.
The choice of K B (that i admire ) is surprising. Tall , blond , energetic , so -séduisant- , so different from the famous detective!
As for the casting ,very mediocre except for M P , always beautiful and sensitive.
Nevertheless , i noticed that youngsters in the audience applauded at the end ...I confess that I suggested the film to my son who is 35 . May be the positive impact of the movie is to encourage people to discover and read A C .
But , please -cher- K B don t do a remake of Murder on the Nile as you suggested since i won t see it - Désolé -
My Cousin Rachel (2017)
mixed feelings
( sorry for my English )
i was eager to see this movie especially having read recently the book .
The atmosphere was well created , Victorian style . but the adaptation leaves to be desired . first not faithful to the novel , then the sex scenes spoiled the climate .
the actors performance was not very natural .
therefore i prefer Olivia and Richard But at certain moments i could feel Du Maurier masterpiece
The Notebook (2004)
Sublime !
Excuse my English I heard about this movie when James Garner passed away.RIP.So i rented it . From the beginning i was fascinated . The photos of the red sunset on the river are a masterpiece and announce the atmosphere of the film , romantic , sentimental and tragic..Everything is perfectly orchestrated . The nostalgic music , J Garner so charming , the talent of G Rowlands , and the extraordinary performance of the young actors . But the movie is so sad , so dramatic that i stopped viewing it . i stopped when both are dancing in a moment of lucidity . And i cried , and i am a man . Too vivid memories .
Sublime !
War of the Worlds (2005)
disappointing
first excuse my English. i was 10 years old when i saw the first version of War of the worlds black and white and was fascinated by the planet invasion by martians. in this movie the global context is erased.we are limited to a small town .and therefore the movie looses its impact .besides those tripods are so ridiculous!and the creatures eating are almost comic.the story of huge aliens buried underneath is nor credible where is the Spielberg who gave us Close encounters ,a masterpiece that upset me so much? on the whole this movie filmed in omly 3 weeks lacks energy, imagination and credibility.another blockbuster for the summer 2005
