Arrival (2016)
Time to re-think time
I watched Arrival last night. First I couldn't comprehend what is being said, shown and experienced. It would take a good day or two to digest all the information. Might even need to watch it 3 or 4 times to get it fully! With that being said it is one of a kind in the sci-fi genre. Actually it is a mix of sci-fi, drama and spiritual genres.
What I liked: Amy is awesome. She has done a brilliant job with her acting. She delivers a great performance in every scene that makes the viewers 'feel' what that character felt and 'live' the experience with her.
Music is incredible. The music is not too dramatic or too low, it mixes and merges with the visuals. The music/hums inside the spacecraft puts one in an alien environment/world.
The idea of the movie: The concept of this movie is quite new and different from other sci-fi movies. 'Time is not linear, and thinking in the aliens language might eliminate time and there by eliminate misery' This is actually a Buddhist philosophy, also a quantum physic principle. Great idea!
Room for improvements: Jeremy didn't play much of a role. Though the movie is centered around Amy, he could have had some strong character. In other words his character could have been made 'deeper' that it was, at least half-deep as Amy's!
The alien's look could have been improved! We have seen this kind of octopus looking aliens in a lot of Hollywood movies. It could have been like a smoky or less rigid form that can change shapes!
Overall, its an awesome movie. So 8 *s
Delusion (2016)
Delusion -Frustration
Plus: First 25 minutes of the 'story'. Good looking bad girl.
Minus: Music-Live audio Ending of the story. Especially the unnecessary screaming. Poor acting. Slow pace of the movie. Everything else.
Do not watch. Looked like a school kid's movie project out of a handy cam. Total disaster. This could have been a better movie with a good story ending, good actors and some CGI. However, no efforts have been put to improve the quality of the movie. The script were tolerable and not too bad. In short, there is nothing in this movie to spend 100 minutes. Better off watching couple episodes of your favorite sitcom reruns!
