The Blacklist (2013)
Best Network Show On TV! (SPOILERS)
I love this show. I love the intricacy, action, comic relief....the lead is HOT....There are many twists and turns that I don't see coming. Great soundtrack, too! I get a maniacal laugh going when Red is performing his antics and plans.
I kept up with it for about 2 seasons when they first aired. I wasn't able to record some subsequent episodes, so I put the series on hold. I have recently returned to it. I had to watch the first 2 seasons over again. I have a TERRIBLE memory. So bad that I didn't remember anything about the first 2 seasons . I have been binging for several days now, and have enjoyed every episode.
So why did I mark off 1 star? There are some details where one has to suspend disbelief. Pretty obviously.
SPOILER!>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
There is a recurring detail where Agent Keen hot wires cars. She would not be able to just put 2 wires together (even if she carried wire strippers, which it doesn't appear that she does) on a car any newer than the '60's. (and even then, you had to put 2 together, then use a third to make the starter turn) It's pretty glaring. I mean, they don't even show her defeating the locking steering wheel, much less the keys with the chips in them that are used now. This is just an example. There are other similar events that make me shake my head, but I can stand to ignore them to enjoy the majority of the show. At least so far there have not been any nail guns that shoot people and kill them. LOL
END SPOILER>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Give this show a try if you like action and espionage type programs. You won't regret it!
Cherry (2010)
Not What the Advertising Poster Would Have You Think
This is NOT one of those mindless, titillating, gratuitous fluff films that one might think. I'm not saying I don't enjoy those from time to time, but this is a great little coming of age film. Something I always enjoy when done well, and this one was. From the casting to the acting to the story line, this a winner in my book.
Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp (2015)
Just Terrible
I just can't figure out how anyone would find this funny. I know what they were trying for, but they seriously missed the mark. I can only stand to watch it for Lake Bell and Elizabeth Banks. I'm not sure how many episodes I can take just to see them. I have not gotten even a snicker as far as I remember.
Le Mans: Racing Is Everything (2017)
Very interesting and informative
I am in the middle of watching this series. I have not followed Le Mans, but knew it was a 24 hour torture test for both man and machine. I was amazed at some of the details that they went into concerning use of cutting edge technology and method of choice and training for the drivers. There was also a bit of history thrown in. The cinematography and editing were to my liking. I think I will go out of this knowing a whole lot more than I did going in.
Puck Hogs (2009)
I expected it to be awful....
...but I was pleasantly surprised. I mean, it's not going to win any academy awards, but I found it entertaining and funny. It was done in a documentary style. I'd call it the "Spinal Tap" of Hockey movies. It could also be compared to "The Office" in the style of film making that was used. Of course, it's not as good as either of those examples, but I did find myself laughing out loud a few times. I was a little intimidated by the reviews done by Canadians, but I find that it reminded me of when I played in a rec league. Maybe the jokes were old hat to them, and that's why they didn't find them funny, but to me it wasn't the same old thing. The plot was fairly simplistic, but the comradery and tensions between teammates and opponents felt real to me. If you are like me, and HAVE to watch any and all hockey movie made, I'd suggest you give it a chance. I'd like to hear some more reviews to see if anyone agrees with me.
