Reverse Angle (2009)
Poorly thought out movie
Just poorly thought out. Lets start with the usual conspiracy against the status quo. The movie was made this year (2009), oil companies everywhere are diversifying into alternate energy programs. They own the distribution channels so why would they not simply buy in?
Having a patent does not mean the inventor gets rich, ask Tesla (the inventor, not the car company) and too many others to cite. The inventor typically sells the rights due to costs of refining the product, procuring business credit to buy more than a few parts, selling the product, distributing the product.
The guy at the patent office who logs in and removes the patent application. Database systems with that much at stake log every event. And that deletion would have been noticed. Also the servers get backed up nightly so the application is ** still ** in the system.
The hit men, if you are from small town America everybody notices the strangers in town who are riding around in a black (helicopter) SUV. They were wearing suits and ties. And they are careless. You just can't shot and kill everybody and no one notices.
The reporter whose truck was run off the road. Why did the hit men just assume the two reports were dead, they should have searched around the vehicle.
Just stupid stupid movie.
Arn: Tempelriddaren (2007)
Saw it last evening
I am American and we found "Arn" quite watchable even though it did not have English sub titles. We worked through the Swedish subtitles and came begin understanding many parts of the dialog. It did take a while to figure out how Arn actually knew Knut. The directors were on to something when they used the languages of the countries represented in the film, novel touch. ** Spoiler** The flash back scene in the beginning is almost half of the film, it does provide necessary context, but is long. Also a good depiction of medieval life. Some of the earlier reviewers indicated that they thought they were left hanging but the movie had many layers and I did enjoy it. Even with English sub titles I would recommend only to those with patience.
The Temp (1993)
Not worth the effort
Sat through this with the wife, overly long, dull, insane situations, add nonsensical ending and the cable TV rating of 1 (one) star is generous. Skip it.
Silly plot, Predictable, Drama none, Boring, Long, most of it should have been left on the cutting room floor. Ending, how lame was that, the women had killed or maimed several co-workers and the CEO. She is told to clean out her desk and leave. What was that?
Should have known better, it was on Lifetime Movie Network (LMN) formerly Lifetime the network for women. The Simpson had it right, the Network for stupid people.
I prefer stories with many plot threads, twists, events you cannot foresee.
The Temp is right out of the Dummies Guide to Movie making, page 2.
300 (2006)
Never trust a critic
I have the "Frank Miller" novel. I actually study history. And yes I do know details of the actual battle. The critics thought the battle scenes to be excessive. The battle pits 300 Spartans against 1,000,000 Persians in a narrow pass. The Spartans held out for 3 days inflicting massive casualties on the enemy before being annihilated to the last man. What should this battle have looked like? They were using state of the art, spears, swords, arrows and anything else you could impale the man in front of you with. In real life there would have been enough blood spilled to swim in, as for gore, how about entrails everywhere, on the weapons, the man next to you, on the ground. Back to the critics, one reviewer thought the immortals were ninjas? Another critic bowing to the politically correct crowd took issue with the reference to Athenians as "boy lovers" (thought it was homophobic). Greek warriors were required to take male lovers until manhood as women were thought to dull their senses. See "TROY" Achilles in particular. Still another thought the dialog was too minimal, did I say I have the graphic novel? The 300 is the novel brought to the big screen, some pages only have 3 words. Maybe they should quote Shakespeare. Lastly a few more had problems with the sex scene, I have seen more graphic sex in PG13 movies. So, don't take your future wimps. What are the requirements to being a critic? You should really have knowledge of what you are critiquing, "ninjas?", for crying out loud. So instead I went to the theater and found that there was a good time to be had for all. Guys, testosterone levels low? Get a dose of the 300. Girls, like rough sex? Then take your mate to the 300 (notice I did not specify gender). Sissies, do you like buff guys? Go to the 300. Something for everyone. See, the 300 is a family movie after all.
