Ferrari (2023)
Not as I had expected
Ferrari 7 out of 10.
The plot 1 point out of 2 - the Ferrari movie brought some famous highlights in Ferrari's life. However, important plot is missing: How had Ferrari became Ferrari? And what impact did he left on the industry?
Characters: 2 out of 2. They were well managed and well developed during the film, but have not left evoked any feeling on the viewers.
Acting: 2 out of 2. The actors played well and managed to make a feeling that it was about high-end film.
Movie's direction: 1 out of 2. The director, though not bringing the plot I want, managed to bring well his plot well.
Genre expectations: 0 out of 1. For tge reasons mentioned above.
Personal Enjoyment: 1 out of 1. It is a recommended movie to watch. Though not the best one.
The Lion King (2019)
Not bad, not awesome
A good film to watch with family members. The story line is the same as in previous versions of this film. The characters are funny and well animated, however more face expressions should be shown. The acting is good, but not better than previous versions of this film. Direction of the plot has a good pace, but the end is too fast, in my opinion. It is similar to other Hollywood films. Film's cinematogrophy is good. Best angles are shown, and the colour palette is wide and general's movie aesthetics has a good quality either. Film's soundtrack is good, but not extraordinary and does not add anything new to previous versions. Film's editing gives absorb's viewers curiosity. In general, it is a good film to watch with family members.
Expend4bles (2023)
Didn't like it
If I compare this movie genres in a general movie scale, these kind of films get a maximum of seven out of ten (minus three because of bad humour, happy end and bad English). I gave five stars out of ten here. It means it is five out of ten. The reason for that a maximum of seven, is that it these films are useless and don't leave any impression on me. However, if I rate it equally and compare it to these kind of movies (not too smart humour, happy end, violence and a solution with out of nowhere), so it might rate it with eight stars out of ten, because the players are famous and the plot is new.
Steve Jobs (2015)
I d not recommend
For a long time I have not seen a movie, which I couldn't finish and had to gather special forces to complete it. The movie tries to describe Job's problematic relationships with his family and colleagues. The movie itself, however, do not focus on Job's success later, his character his way of living and thoughts. The movie has a quite low temp and finishes with a happy end (as suitable to many American films). I feel the movie had not contributed to my knowledge about Steve Jobs. In addition, when comparing this movie to other movie of this genre, I think it lays behind and do not have anything special to offer.
Golda (2023)
A triumph for for war movies lovers
An outstanding film, for all who are interested in Israel-Arab relations, wars and politics. The film is Israeli, directed by an Israeli and focuses on Israeli prime minister Golda's role in the Yom Kippur war (also called October war). The plot in the film is interesting and well transfered to the viewers, however it is non documental one but art- focused. The added value for this movie was not great for me because I read a lot about this war, but one can learn from watching it: Golda's illness, Dayan's panic, Sharon's desire to cross Suez canal. Film's theme is quite good and links real blsck and white video broadcasted segments from that period. Movie's acting is flawless and passes right feelings to viewers. There was a scene, in which a tear fell from my eye. So emtional it was. Doalogues were quite interesting, funny and similar to what is known to the wide public. However, the film does not mention war's disagreements and environment in the IDF and Israel: building or not a defence line in the east bank of Suez canal (building it, contradicts Israeli famous portable maneuver warfare), superiority feelins over Arabs in Israeli society because of 1967 war and of course inner General conspiracies. Movie's cinematography is quite good and movie's pace of plot is comfortable. Movie's soundtrack fits the scenes, however they are not remarkable for me. It is not one of a kind movie, however it is well made and top ranked in its category.
The ODESSA File (1974)
Better as a book
I watched the film almost immediately after I had finished the book. A famous Nazi liquidator Shimon Wiesental worked as a counselor to novel's writer Forsyth. The book is better than the film, because it has much more details, and manages to thrill the readers. Acting in the film was a little bit dry - 1. Cinematography - 2. Storry telling - 3 because the main parts appears in it. Also I have enjoyed the film - 1. Eduard Roschmann was captured, after writing the novel. The most i teresting part is that Eduard Roschmann doesn't look as a pure German (by Nazi ideology). The mentioned novel had a different end to its story.
Gamlet (1964)
Must view film
A great Shakespeare's tragedy, is made fabulously by Kozintsev(producer). A black and white photo also contributes to film's experience. A lot of talented actors played in it, especially Smoktunovsky, who plays Hamlet. Another actor is Anastasia Vertinskaya, who plays Aphelia very good. Yuri Tolubeev, who plays Palonia, Aphelia's father. It was filmed in 1964 in USSR, however I think it passes time exam. It was shot in Ivan-Gorod's city castle. The castle is located in today's Russia-Estonia border. Ivan-Gorod is on a Russian side, and Estonian Narva city nearby. If I am not mistaken the castle was a military castle, in the far past.
Ekaterina (2014)
A good piece of history
This TV series is marvelous. Its music is astonishing, the playing with very high standarts and the locations (many of them from Saint Perersburg) are magnifiques. I have acquired knowledge from this TV series. Also it fits the fashion of making films about Russian history(at that time). Regarding history facts, I have not checked them (as should be done with all non-documentary films), but many of them appeared to be correct, but also one should acknowledge the fact that it was shown and produced on formal Russian Tv state channel. It means that, it contains also patriotic values to show to its viewers.
Er ist wieder da (2015)
Funny, but not wanted
A very amusing movie, but in the context of history may be sad. However, the punch line of the movie is interesting, because Hitler says to his killer: "You can't kill me, I am part of you"
Eizenkot. (2019)
His last work
This film is a documentary film produced partly by the IDF.
The film transfers a good point of view about its chief of general staff, it transfers his tamper, his behviour, his point of view on different contemporary subjects , his point of view about army-citizenship relations, his work and viosion. Everyone who wants to learn about the being chief of general staff and the person called Gadi Eizenkot should watch it.
