Maisie is a fun movie. ann sothern made me laugh and im getting fonder and fonder of mr, robert young. he can play different characters and renders them with brilliance. in fact he would be great in all cary grant fims.

Since a very long time i keep 2 list of my 20 favorite actors and 20 favorite actresses. melvyn douglas was not even in my top 50.....until i just saw 3 of his films in a row. mr. dougas now entered the top 20. what a marvelous actor hes funny,,,,,not bad looking and registers emotions like no one. was a change not to see myrna loy always playing with cary grant and william powell. in fact melvyn douglas is just as effective as mr. grant. the movie is not a masterpiece but its fun and lively. im getting the dvd.

Really cute little movie with a simple story line but effective. i keep a list of my 25 favorite actors and 25 actresses. robert young was number 12 but seeing this film i climbed him way up to number 4. pushing away gary cooper and cary grant. he was very funny in bridal suite and his acting especially facial expressions are flawless. i would certainly have not loved the movie so much with lead robert montgomery. not a masterpiece but a fun film

The whole movie is a gem and i find no fault in it.GLENN FORD those eyes...the expressions....hes absolutely superbe. RITA HAYWORTH prouves to us that she aint just a pinup.....she could act as well and shes great. and the most beautiful of all actresses. steve geray george macready brought so much talent to this film. the scenery the clothes the hair...all impeccable......those who rated this movie below 6.....need to have their head examined.

I went to bed with a splitting headache watching this no good farce. both leading actors were set to get on my nerves. the storyline was stupid and the action unbelievable. a woman throws herself from a window and its just as if a cat would have brought in a dead mouse. no action. a man is locked up in a desk...whopeeeeeeeeee. the police raid is right across the pressroom wow lucky journalistes......not even the character actors that i usually love....stood out. bellamy was paid for nutting.....grant was bland and russell especially in the hectic phone scenes was excrutiating. hated that film so much yet has a high rating.....go figure.

I didnt live in the forties but wish i did....... the women the men the movies the car AND THE WAY OF LIVING....OMG and HOLLYWOOD CANTEEN MAKES ME FEEL ALL THIS all happy inside and loving that era. in the film and get this pleaseITS A STORY SO WE CAN ENJOY IT......robert hutton was damn good and played the shy soldier super well, i would have picked joan leslie too what a beautiful kind girl to come home to. dane clark made me laugh with his facial expressions.....good to see alan hale....joan crawford... barbara stanwyck and all. GEES BETTE DAVIS AND JOHN GARFIELD HAD A STUPENDOUS IDEA.....HOW MANY SOLDIERS GOT A LITTLE GIFT FROM THAT HORRID WAR......THANKS TO THE CANTEEN. WE WOULDNT SEE THAT TODAY

LOVED this film.....nancy kelly was not over the top and she was great and believable in all her scenes. acting honors should go to henry jones and eileen heckart,,,simply breath taking. the storyline is superbe and the cinematographie a gem.....glad it was in black and white. love the spanking ending it sort of gave us a certain contentment that it was only a movie and a entertaining punishment to a little girl who was only acting and was normal. patty mccormick was awesome....we believed her and she had our blood pressure rising. lol.......i found only one flaw.....WILLIAM HOPPER.

The movie is an absolute farce. hated it in its first 30 minutes but decided to watch it till the end by curiosity. funny how paul newman drinks drinks and drinks and he doesnt look drunk. liz taylor comes in from the poring rain.....5 minutes later in the same scene she is all dolled up and dry as as a nutshell. the acting nutting to write about except for burl ives and judith anderson. liz taylor in my opinion is very bland and a one dimension actress.....paul newman was mediocre. the story is stupid and long....and you get extremely tierd of the constant gabbing. tennesee williams is not my cup of tea.....and im sorry i wasted 2 hours watchin this crap.

I was really disappointed. the movie wasnt awful but it was unbelievable and bland. for his age cary grant was quite good but i didnt think there was a chemistry between him and eva marie. didnt like her in that role either. storyline was fun and the direction of alfred was on target. but the movie just didnt get to me as much as STRANGERS ON A TRAIN....SABOTEUR...THE BIRDS,,,DIAL M FOR MURDER....

Was switching channels when i saw this film was being shown. hmmm do i look at it. not a fan of tracy or dunne but when i saw the rest of the cast. well why not. A GOOD DECISION.....mr. tracy was great and lovable and miss dunne did her part justice. but i enjoyed immensley van johnson james gleason don defore and barry williams. they all acted to the hilt and were superbe. the story is fun and different and i got into it easily...although the part where MISS DUNNE goes on the mission is a bit overdoing it. all in all the scenery was fine...and the message came through. nice flemming mr. film

One of the worst comedies i have yet to see. the story line was mediocre,,,the actors bland.....and what was suppose to have you in stitches..barely had a grin from me. and i love to laugh. jack carson was not in his element and i like miss albright way better as a sultry lounge singer. im glad i didnt pay money to see this trash at the theatres

I didnt care for this film one bit. overlong..unbelievable and mediocre. the best thing about it was jessie ralph,,,henry daniel......laura hope crewes.....BUT IT PROVE TO ME ONE THING. ROBERT TAYLOR DOES NOT HOLD A CANDLE TO MR. TYRONE POWER IN LOOKS AND IN ACTING. what is the fuss over greta garbo.....pretty yes.....but dam does she overact and have an annoying voice. as for the movie im usually very sensitive well...i didnt cry at all at the final death scene. couldnt wait for it to end. i cried more with the film OLD YELLER..... .

THE movie is quite good without being excellent. love the scenery the atmosphere and the stellar character actors in it. miss o brien is ok but seems to be always pouting like her other films...never changes. BUT dean stockwell what a great boy actor unbelievable how he makes us belive in his acting. WHY does the cscars not reward him for the bulk of his work during 60 years. for his age he never did a bad performance and he often outshone the leading actors. WHILE HE IS STILL ALIVE AND WITH US....would be great to hand him an honory award. loved the animal scenes in the secret garden and seeing.....norma varden elsa lanchester and gladys cooper in the same film.

Gosh that film was long.....too many men on horses too many chases.....ouf. and speaking of horses they fell quite a lot of times. im sure the invisible wires helped to make the poor creatures fall. the acting apart for john wayne whom i never liked and ward bond...the rest were just so so. altho a very pretty girl i cannot erase shirley temple from her curly top days. the story line was not that hot and was lackluster. scenery was nice. but im glad i didnt go see that movie in the theatres.

I SAW the film. was excited to see flynn scott and bogie together. it turned out to be a good movie but when i saw MYRIAM HOPKINS....i went beserk. the role was not for her and she was not even gorgeous. her voice is like fingers on a blackboard. i cant believe flynn kissed her....i dislike her so much i even hoped he would kiss randolph scott or even a horse instead of her. mind you i saw many of her films and i still think she is poison.....sorry to her fans

DONT understand the poor people who hated this version. It is absolutely the finest. first of all the music score......THOSE SONGS OMG....listened to it tonite and still had goose pimples.......WOMAN IN THE MOON....EVERYTHING...QUEEN BED ECT NOT SHALLOW SONGS. those who criticize the hair.....HELLLLO ITS THE SEVENTIES....what hairstyle were you supporting HARI KRISHNA. BARBRS ACTING NATURAAL AND FLAWLESS.... kris well he was just ok. the best version ever...with its minor flaws and small details. LONG LIVE BARBRA STREISAND....im gaga over you

Donot agree with those who proclaim Rock Hudson a bad actor in this movie. i thought he did a fine job and was very believable....Jane Wyman on the other hand i never really liked. In all her movies she looks old and that hair style seems to follow her in many films. THE PAIRING of jane and rock makes MAGNIFICENT less interesting and credible. And the movie moved along to fast and lacked pizzaz....THE little girl was fun and OTTO KRUGER played his role very well....I dont want to be too harsh on MISS WYMAN.....but i adored her only in one movie...JOHNNY BELINDA.....but anyways the film cannot be worse than the soaps that are on now a days.

What a funny film. i turned it on by accident and BOOM iwas hooked. its really simple but so witty and well done. the actors are all superbe but i have a weakness for james franco. we find ourselves rooting for him and hoping he will never be deceived in the movie. the reason this film is hated by viewers.....no guns going off....no blood....no complete nudity. sad.....i think i will by the dvd i found it that good. sorry but those who hated it must ne very sad and boring people.

IM a fan of the thirties and forties cinéma....but when i saw this movie i cringed. An absolute disaster too long too story telling in flashback. And i didnt like GREER GARSON before and now i really dont like her. she is stoic always has that same expression and her teaming with Walter PIDGEON gets on my nerves. I have yet to see a movie of hers that i like. And she got an oscar bid for that. SIMPLY unbelievable. AGNES MOORHEAD is the saving grace of this film.....although to be honest i watched only 30 minutes. Sorry GARSON FANS but console yourselves,,,,she is loved by many.

everything is cliché. soap opera style. i am the world strongest Tyrone power fan and although his acting was fine in this dull movie i wish he hadn't made it, the 2 leading ladies in my opinion are very so so looking especially that SHAW LADY not too gorgeous. James whitmore did a swell job but my favourite scene was with the native boy at the piano, he had just the right gestures and looks to make the scene credible, so far i think it is the worst movie Tyrone power ever made and I'm in awe of this actor. the make up artist did not help out his image either yet poor man he would die 2 years later, not an extremely bad film.....but a good soap opera

will people stop saying Glenn ford was stiff and not good in loves of Carmen. he was excellent maybe people kept seeing him in detective clothes or cowboy outfits. he rendered his role with awesome facility and when he wasn't saying dialogue you could feel the tension just by the expression in his eyes. Rita Hayworth is for me the most beautiful of all Hollywood actresses and the role of Carmen fitted her like a glove. a good movie...a little fake scenery that we could spot but fell greatly to my expectations, but please don't be so hard on Glenn ford...he did a good job and his teaming with miss Hayworth will never tarnish.

i just adored this film. Lana turner i was never a fan of but she does so great in this movie. she really has a flair for comedy. the cast is absolutely unbelievable...Brennan mowbray...bates....may witty...faylen...and many others. the story line is not complicated and flows like milk and honey. a bored soda jerk making her way to high society but with lots of twists. but for me the star of the movie is Mr. Robert young. that guy is an ace in comedy and he could act in any roles and make them believable. no wonder he made the transition from films to television with such easiness. yes this is a very fun film and i recommend it to movie buffs. that it is rated a 6 here is making me mad but i guess some people don't like a good clean comedy...so they better go watch the kardashians.

this movie is boring beyond belief. i think the worse part was Edith Fellows...i would have left her in the orphanage. bratty not very cute and over acting she just made me cringe. Bing Crosby is alright but the songs he sings are forgettable and too bland. what was Donald Meek doing there.....they could have invented a non existing grandpa and would have saved on pay roll. the lead actress Madge Evans very ordinary. the story line is predictable and you just cant wait till the darn film to end. I am a BING fan but he should have dropped this dud. as for Edith fellows for sure her role called for her to be on the bratty side but she wasn't lovable in any ways and i felt no sadness when she was crying in the orphanage. miscast all the way.

I'm sick and tired of hearing about Tyrone Power being just a pretty boy image. there were bandits pirates crooks who must have been good looking you know. Power was a looker but above all a dam good actor. he could play any role with ease and they were always well rendered. his work in IN OLF CHICAGO is impeccable and he Alice Brady and Andy Divine give good performances. know the history might be far fetched...but this is entertainment guys. Alice Faye i found fair in this one her role was not important enough but her singing brought diversity in the film. don ameche was good too. I'm sorry but TYRONE POWER was not just a pretty face......look at the good job he did in NIGHTMARE ALLEY WITNESS TO PROSECUTION AND ABANDON SHIP....what did you want him to do set his face on fire so he could be ugly.
