Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994)
The environment creates monsters!
I got a chance to watch this movie about 2 years ago, but unfortunately, just the second part of it. And finally i observed it from the beginning to the end. For sure, i had no the same fear, intense and suspense atmosphere like the first time, but it helped me to understand the characters deeper.
It is a story about a man, whose is very talented from his childhood, and his parents have a great expectations regarding him, but suddenly his mother passes away, during giving a birth to his brother and from that moment he decides to make people live forever and to find the way to implement the resurrection of the corps. Finally his dream came true, but from that moment he had to pay for what he had done.
The atmosphere of the movie is dark, but extremely attractive. You can't take a look out of it. Soundtracks, the fast change of the shots, uptight ambiance are drawing you into. I felt a deep compassion to the Monster. Robert De Niro's performance is outstanding. In fact, Victor killed all his beloveds, by the hand of the Monster. He created him, but didn't put a soul in. Everyone who is next to him, had to pay for his mistake.
"Frankenstein" is an amazing movie and it is almost criminal how it was underrated.
Jurassic World (2015)
What is happening when the previous experience doesn't teach you at all!
"Jurassic World" is the continuation of the greatest story of all time about dinosaurs "Jurassic Park". I had so much expectations regarding this movie, but unfortunately it turned out to be not so satisfactory as i expected.
The plot is most stolen from the Jurassic Park. A lot of episodes resemble the first part, but without the same spirit of suspense, tension and soul. "Jurassic Park" is the movie of my childhood, i remember my feelings after first watching it. It was something inexplicable, i desired to become a paleontologist and to create something like Jurassic Park. While the new one is just a blockbuster, well-done for sure, but without the proper atmosphere. But, at the same time, i can't say that it is extremely bad. As a separate movie it is much fascinating, but without any meaning. I like they added a lot of funny situations, but it was needless to create the new individuum. T-rex is a perfect prehistoric murderer and to invent something between T-Rex and Raptors is the foolish thing ever. I understand they were trying to invent a bike, but it doesn't work. The scene with Chris Patt trains a Raptors is great and entertaining and maybe it would be possible to implement if the people had been lived with dinosaurs. Raptors are the most intelligent prehistoric dinosaurs, hypotetically it could be.
The 3d effect, the scenery and the movie in general is well-done, but not in comparison with the first one. As an entertaining movie it is worth watching.
Crimson Peak (2015)
The obsession creates monsters!
I have been waiting for the movie since may, when i first watched the trailer. It was fascinating from the first moment, despite i do not like horror movies, i felt that it hides something special. And i was right! It is Gothic romance with elements of horror and the key role takes the relations and deep feelings between people.
The movie is extremely enchanted. You are submerging to the Victorian era from the first moment, it was like to buy a ticket to the past. The atmosphere is full with mystery and anxiety. The main role here takes the castle. It is unbelievably beautiful, but at the same dark and frightening. I have got the most aesthetic enjoy i ever had.
Jessica as Lucille is the best in here. You can't take a look out of her. Even Tom is in the shadow in comparison with her. Her demonic nature hides under the fatal appearance.
Tom's performance is perfect as always. He plays Thomas Sharpe - a gentleman with immaculate manners - his eyes are full with sorrow. I will not say too much about him, in order not to reveal all the secrets.
Just Mia was a little disappointed. I didn't fill her intense position. She acted superficial. This is only minus i caught.
Overrall, the beautiful lyrical story is worth seeing.
The Martian (2015)
The another ordinary movie with claims of a masterpiece!
Disappointment - this is what i felt while watching "The Martian". I had been waiting for the movie since spring 2015, and i was expected a lot, but as it turned out, i got nothing. There is no atmosphere of solitude, fear for character's life, feeling of happiness when he managed to do something. I consider "The Martian" is the fail of the year, because you are waiting for a lot of things but gets nothing.
First the script seems very fascinating. The astronaut appears to be on the deserted planet, because his crew left him by accident and he is fighting for his life with the desolated land of Marc. After reading this, in my mind immediately came presentation of something which could touch the soul, something like Tom Hanks's acting in "Cast away". "The Martian" obviously loses itself not just compared to the well-known movies about the universe, but also to the movies which demonstrate the loneliness of the person, who stayed alone in the inclosed place.
The scientists who says some foolish things by TV, the another science guy who is making choice between food or his ideas every time, the crew which shows theirs heroism at a very low level, all this will make me not to watch this "masterpiece" again.
And just Matt Damon is trying to pull the movie from the abyss. His jokes are very strict, his emotions are deep, but it isn't enough.
Overall, "The Martian" is the another blockbuster, which pays more attention to the special effects, than to the atmosphere. Definitely i will not watch it twice, the first time was more than enough!
Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas (1997)
Despite your wishes do not come true, keep wishing!
"Beauty and the Beast: The enchanted Christmas" is not the continuation of the well-known throughout the world cartoon, it is like the movie inside the movie, in other words, we are finding out what was going in the castle, while Bell lived in there. How the relations between her and the Beast had been evolving and also we are getting to know with the new inhabitants of the castle.
For sure, there is no even comparison with the greatest story of all time, i mean the first part of "Beauty and the Beast", but it is also interesting to figure out what occurrences had happened while Bell was in there. It helps to understand both characters (Bell and The Beast) deeper. In fact, it is a very good story for watching before Christmas. It teaches you never give up, and despite your previous wishes haven't come true, you should keep wishing (also it was Bell's words in answer to Beast's resentment). Now we know why Beast hates Christmas and how he was before being turned into animal.
I advice to everyone, (no matter child, teen or adult) watch these two very instructive and inspirational cartoons. Of course, the second part isn't the same masterpiece as the first one, but you can't demand it, because it's just a demonstration of the part of theirs life into the castle, not the whole story, so i would advice not to be critical regarding the second part and just enjoy the one chapter on the way to the greatest ending.
