Zambo, il dominatore della foresta (1972)
For Brad Harris completists only...
A Tarzan-like movie with Brad Harris playing a man who's on the lam from the law and ends up being a buff hero living in the jungle, worshipped by local tribesmen. The story is non-existent. It's just another Brad's neverending attempts to continue to do what he does best: hitting people, action scenes and showing off his body. The camera often focuses on his buff (but aging) physique. In one shot, his right pec, popping out of his skimpy costume, is centered directly in the frame. If you enjoy Brad's physique, you'll enjoy this as its got nothing else going for it. The movie also has former PEPLUM stars like Daniele Vargas and Raf Baldassarre in it. There were several Tarzan-like movies made during the late 1960s, early 1970s, with former PEPLUM stars stranded and left to do such forgettable productions. I like Brad's PEPLUM movies but the movies he made after the genre died are mostly dreary and this one is no exception.
Zhong guo chao ren (1975)
A kinetic masterpiece!
Aside from one boring and overlong scene with the scientist and his daughter, this movie is basically non-stop action. Look beyond the movie's b-movie premise and you get what amounts to a kinetic masterpiece of kung-fu, editing and practical effects.
I saw this movie double billed with STARCRASH. It was the greatest 3 hours of my life. I never had so much fun at the movies.
The story is basically ancient beings led by villainess Princess Dragonmom (dressed in go-go boots, hot shorts, gold plated brassiere, long blond hair and a Viking helmet!) threatening to destroy the earth if her demands aren't met. She unleashes a motley crew of goofy monsters, creating destruction and chaos all over the world. Only a secret team, an all-male crew (dressed in silver spandex uniforms that leave nothing to the imagination) commanded by a scientist who created a super being in the lab just in time to stop this underground menace: Infra-Man.
This movie has everything: robots, whips, tentacle action, disposable army of bad guys, explosions, gaudy sets, etc. Scene after scene of giddy, colorful, hilarious non-stop fun.
Even if this doesn't sound like something you'd watch, watch this for the kinetic action.
