The Great Outdoors (1988)
It's just not any good
Writing is second rate at best. Nothing original or surprising. A waste of Candy and Aykroyd. Dan's character a predictable wooden unfunny caricature. A shame John Candy was usually in movies beneath his great talent. You watch Trains, Planes and then this and night and day. Ok review too short so how bout the Bears! I knew I knew you. Johnny LaRue, now there was a funny guy. Ok this has to be long enough now. I gues not. "Was that seat hot or what? I feel like a Big Whopper. Turn me over, I'm done on this side."
"You know everything is not an anecdote. You have to discriminate. You choose things that are funny or mildly amusing or interesting."
The Tunnel of Love (1958)
Dumb and boring
And unfunny and dumb and a comedy should have laughs I think and Richard Widmark is quite miscast and looks like Doris Day left the set for most of it and it's not funny and it's dumb and it's boring.
Signed, Sealed, Delivered (2013)
Adults behaving like children
The people who work in the office all behave like they're in middle school. Simple minded. Not real characters. No suspense. Happy simple music. Ugh.
I don't need 150 characters to explain this but apparently I do.
The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley (2019)
Borrrriiinnngggg
This is a ten minute story, maybe 20. The machines don't work and she's scamming people. No one being I tervirwed has much else to say.
Tank (1984)
Very Dumb
Dumb script, dumb unrealistic dialogue. What a dud.
Gone Girl (2014)
Stinks
It's a bad TV movie. Abandon early. Don't stick with it
Five Minutes to Live (1961)
Oh brother
Wow this is really, really bad. Two stars because there are a couple unintentionally funny moments. Mostly it's quite boring and very dumb. How and why it got made one wonders. Script stinks, directing stinks, much of the acting does too. Enjoy.
The Legend of Lylah Clare (1968)
Soul Crushing Refuse
One of the worst things I've ever seen. Drains the life out of you. Stupid drudgery. It's dumb, no one in it is likable, the music drags you down. Utter manure.
The Living Daylights (1987)
Boring
As boring a Bond movie as I can remember. Dalton is good but the movie slogs along. Joe Don Baker is less than stellar or believable in a supporting role.
Zardoz (1974)
Dreadful
D as in Dreadful.
Not good.
Really bad.
My review is still too short.
I guess it has meaning and important commentary on man's struggle and all that stuff, but no.
It's really bad.
The Andy Griffith Show: Class Reunion (1963)
Terrific episode
Perhaps the most romantic episode of the series. A very touching story written by Greenbaum and Fritzell. Andy and Barney are not caricatures by this point of the series (and especially with these two writers) but believable characters with real lives. From the third season, which along with season four, are the peak of the series. The writing is the best in these two seasons. Andy is very good here as is Peggy McCay in the role of Sharon DeSpain. The relationship, emotions, the sense of loss are all believable. What might have been.
The final scene with Andy and Barney is brilliant. Two life long friends who have both had their share of pain.
Return to Mayberry (1986)
Bullock and Greenbaum wrote this?!!!!
first time I ever checked to see who wrote this. can't believe they wrote it. haven't seen it since reran years ago, but what were they thinking?!! that unfunny, wooden guy with the lake serpent or whatever it was. Gotta think some network guy had somebody come up with part of this script.
There had to be a better way to do it! and i don't have enough lines, so I'm adding some words.
Hey, why Helen Crump? Why in the heck didn't Andy get Barbara Eden to stay in town? "Nature's been good to you. Real, real, real good. Matter of fact, I don't know when I've seen nature spend so much time on one person."
