Gaslit (2022)
Gaslit is Brilliant
And sheds light on the behind the scenes I never knew. Most of the men caught and convicted deserved all their time in jail AND MORE, none more so than John Mitchell. He deserved prison if only for what he did to Martha. He was an absolute phycopath. I'm still confused about how his daughter could have looked the other way and believed his lies. Martha's son seemed to realize Martha was a lot, but could differentiate from her zaniness and her illness and her being abused.
John Mitchell was a brutal man bent on driving his wife crazy (hence the name, Gaslit). That Mitchell ordered men to brutalize Martha for an entire weekend is almost beyond belief had it not been corroborated by the two agents whom actually did the deed, King and McCord and Nixon's personal lawyer, Kalmnach who called a doctor to give her the sedative.
G. Gordon Liddy was freaking nuts. He belonged in an institution. Crazy as a bed bug.
I feel so heartbroken for Frank Wills who was the hero but got absolutely nothing for his swift thinking and courage. America let this man and his family down. Shameful!
Pointless (2009)
Great concept and fun entertainment
However I find it very unfair and somewhat demoralizing that contestants do not receive the $250 awarded them for their "pointless" answer while competing
during the general competition. When a competing couple has been fortunate enough to provide that all illusive "pointless" answer and been awarded $250 for their answer, their winnings gets added to the night's jackpot for them or one of the other contestants to win during the big showdown. It's really unfair bc the "pointless" round winners may not win latter and they actually seem to be being penalize twice for winning/losing. I think if a couple offers a "pointless" answer during the game, the $250 should be theirs. It should be their winnings, separate from the jackpot. It makes no sense to tie it to the jackpot, none.
The Other One (2017)
Brilliant and deceiving
At first I wasn't sure I would enjoy this sitcom, but I was so wrong. I'm so disappointed to discover there's only one season and I can't find any info on a second season.
PLEASE continue. This show is not only brilliant and deceptive in that it takes one into various funny and very plausible situations, there are always positive and endearing messages left behind. It's cute, funny and refreshing. It reminds me of the show Mom. That show was quirky and down to earth too. Just fun!
WHERE'S SEASON 2,3,4?!
PLEASE!
Frankie Drake Mysteries: No Friends Like Old Friends (2019)
Frankie Drake's hairstyle this season
Is the most unflattering on her. This hairstyle is sooo unsuitable for her facial features and long neck. Absolutely not for her. One would expect that whomever is doing hair and makeup would notice this stuff...
Father Brown: The Great Train Robbery (2019)
Still a wonderful entertaining show
With fantastic characters that keep the pace of the show going well, with the exception of how Jack Dean plays his character. His character is WAY too over the top and in your face. He plays the inspector as though he's a bumbling Idiot who couldn't solve a case unless Father Brown was available to sort it all out for him. I hate this depiction of the inspector. It's not believable and it's disrespectful to that group of workers. I wish they'd find another way to play the inspector. It's been my observation that men and women of the police force train very hard and attend school and work hard at their jobs. Jack Dean makes the inspector look like a dope.
Restless (2012)
Haley Atwell lead a wonderful cast...
However, the actors chosen to depict the characters as they had aged was a real stretch. It was very difficult trying to image the Rufus Sewell
turned into Michael Gambone over a 30 years span. Charlotte Rampling wasn't quite as difficult, but it would have been easier to watch and understand had they simply used aging make up. We're only trying to go from actors in the 30's into their 60's. The plot was great and intriguing and fun to follow, but those different faces that didn't really fit interfered.
Kavanagh QC: In God We Trust (1997)
Unbelievable take on America life in Florida
The premise of the episode might have been good if they hadn't been so off course with their idea of life in Florida. It's noted by other viewers that it was as though we were transported to 1950, and indeed that is exactly what this episode is like.
Way off the mark. Terrible acting, terrible accents, terrible idea!
Anonymous (2011)
I don't really believe that Shakespeare was a fraud
Who's to say that the theory that's posited about The Earl of Oxford (Rhys Iran's) hearing voices and needing the write is not what happened to Shakespeare? Despite the claims of his being illiterate (no one has proven so) he may have suffered as suggested. Explaining how and why he traveled so much, never settling in one place very long. The film suggests Oxford wrote all the plays in a feverish frenzy (inferred by his wife). If that's the theory, anyone could have been afflicted this way and done that.
The film is simply a lovely period piece with wonderful actors and beautiful scenes with no historical value whatsoever.
Silent Witness: Blood, Sweat and Tears: Part 1 (1997)
Wyn Ryan is a winey pain in the but!
Man, not sure who or why they wrote this character as such a winey brat, but she gets on my nerves. She's always attacking Sam bc she has more than Wyn does, or Sam is responsible for their dad's death or Sam left and now she's back. What a pain in the ass Wyn is. Her son needs help with school and all she does is spend her time telling him he's stupid or dense or too dumb to learn. What a witch. She's a jealous loser who just can't say a nice thing about anyone. If I had a sibling hounding me like that, I would have left too. I may not have come back either.
The Innocents (2018)
Not as bad as the reviews have said
I was interested in this bc I'm a huge Guy Pearce fan. It does start out very confusing and you do need to watch to get a sense of what's happening but as with most of these movies that's how they hope to suck you in. It is slow going and it,does take a couple of episodes to get a feel for the movie despite actually knowing that June is a shifter early on. To just chalk it up to an interracial couple running away is pretty insulting and basic. It's just a couple of kids who think they know it all and want to be free, what kid can't relate. It's not as fast paced as I was hoping but the story line is ok.
Dear Murderer: A Good Toss to Lose (2017)
Too many Mitchinson sex scenes!
The overall storyline is interesting enough and it's shown to us that he was unconventional in how he practiced law. He was a sexual predator. I don't need to see an unattractive geriatric man having sex in EVERY episode. It actually makes the show less tolerable. Has New Zealand not heard of the #metoo movement. Bungay definitely qualifies as an offender and just an implication of his sexual prowess would have been better for this 2017 series.
Father Brown: The Flower of the Fairway (2018)
Ending
This was a terrible ending. Not only is not feasible, the evidence should not have supported it, except for the stupid detective they have in charge in the most recent episodes. Deam plays his character way, way over the top.
