Choose or Die (2022)
I enjoyed it
I get the negative reviews about the dumb choices that people make, but I really enjoyed this movie. I found it kept my interest and genuinely creepy towards the end. I can only compare it to to Beyond the Gates with the great Barbera Crampton and I genuinely preferred this. Loved the lighting and the music too and anything that has a lot of 80s influence is always a winner for me.
Maybe it was because I went in with low expectations reading some of the reviews on here, but give it a go, it's an interesting concept and as someone mentioned on here it's very Black Mirror. Definitely worth at least a 6 imho.
The Last of Us (2023)
It was alright
Loved the opening of the show and was so excited to see it develop. I found myself drifting away during the middle section so it failed to keep my attention. The end was quite good and left it relatively exciting, although I think I know what sort of thing is coming. Close encounters with various mutant type creatures and savages. They may even bump into some communities of nice or seemingly nice people. I feel like this has been done to death. I don't know of the computer game so I may be well off mark and I hope I am because I would really love to see something different. I'll keep watching because I did like it. I just didn't love it.
Before We Die (2021)
What am I watching
I can't quite believe how poor the acting is in this. It's laughable at times. The characters are wooden. I have zero empathy with any of them. I watched the first episode and thought it must get better. Having just watched the second I've had enough. If I fancy watching school play acting I'll wait for my kids nativity play.
Time (2021)
Almost felt like a Documentary
Testament to the incredible acting in this series, this almost felt like a documentary. Truly harrowing, bleak and heartbreaking. I could not keep my eyes off of it. It's not often that I feel like I need to comment or review anything, but this was so good. You feel every emotion that Sean Beans character goes through. I loved it.
Intergalactic (2021)
Thought it was a Parody
I can't quite believe this is a serious drama. It is so so bad. The acting, the storyline, the special effects are all laughable. It looks like they filmed the inside spaceship scenes in an office. Not for me.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
Waiting and waiting
I was really looking forward to watching this. Started off slow, then carried on at the same pace. Nowhere near as frightening as Haunting of Hill House. As I'm British, I found myself cringing at the accents. Had a couple of jump scares but, seriously give it a miss. So many unanswered questions too. I found it highly confusing at times. Leave alone.
Annihilation (2018)
Disappointed
I had high hopes going in to this, it started off well, and the visuals were beautiful. Until I saw the CGI animals. In all honesty it ruined the movie for me. It had so much potential, the Alien at the end too looked awful. Like a person in a bad onesie. I can't fault the acting or the scenery, and I liked the mystery of it all. Turned what could have been great into mediocrity for me.
Salient Minus Ten (2017)
Beautiful short movie
Absolutely loved this, so stylish and well acted. Beautifully shot and a great soundtrack too. I would recommend this to anybody.
Dracula: The Dark Compass (2020)
I don't get the hate.
I thought this was a beautiful ending to the mini series. I read some reviews before I watched and prepared myself for disappointment, but I ended up loving it. It is completely different from the first two but not inferior in my opinion. I loved this series and would recommend to anyone.
American Horror Story: Final Girl (2019)
My favourite series yet.
I know its cheesy, and completely unbelievable. But for some reason I have really loved this season. Great finale to a great season.
The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017)
Don't waste your precious time.
This is slow, dull and extremely boring. The characters lack any sort of empathy. The acting is wooden, and it's attempt at being controversial falls extremely flat. I guess you could say that I didn't like it. Pretention in moving picture form.
Radius (2017)
Kind of Beautiful
This is a great movie, deserves a much higher rating in my opinion. Please give it a chance, it's very original.
Chernobyl (2019)
Incredible
I cannot believe how amazing this series is. It is beautifully shot, bleak and heartbreaking to watch, but utterly compelling. I don't think I've seen anything that has me this hooked. I really can't believe how little I knew about this tragic event. A must watch.
The Widow (2019)
Disappointed
Considering the caliber of actors in this, I felt that the acting was very wooden. I felt that they weren't really bothered by the terrible things happening around them. Charles Dance especially. Great imagery though.
Bird Box (2018)
Great movie, but not perfect.
I really loved this movie, and I for one don't mind the unanswered questions. I have seen many a film where once the evil subject matter is revealed it goes downhill. Jeepers Creepers for example, and Creep (the tube station one). So the fact that we don't get to see it in the flesh is fine by me. The imagination creates a far scarier monster. It left me on edge and I never got bored. My only criticism is that the peril towards the end got a bit ridiculous. But this is just my opinion. I loved the end of the movie too. Well done Netflix you have created a Gem.
The Haunting of Hill House: Two Storms (2018)
I'm sorry, but this is a snoozefest.
I was expecting so much from this series, and it was going ok. This episode bored me. I found the acting terrible and had no real empathy for any of the characters. If this and the last episode are the best 2 in the series I am going to save some time. Lesson learned, don't believe the hype.
