Behind the Curve (2018)
This Documentary Did NOT Explain Flat Earth
After wading through half of this documentary, I turned it off. I am not a flat earth believer, but it was clearly evident that Mark Sargent is not a true believer of flat earth because he did nothing to support his theory that the earth is flat. He had opportunity to really bring about what flat earthers believe, and why, but instead he spent wasteful time blabbing about unimportant issues, while those of the other side, who believe the earth is round, got to explain why they believed flat earthers were crazy and wrong. I suspect this Sargent fellow is probably a hired hand by the government to debunk the flat earth theory. If he was truly for it, he would have taken the first hour to at least explain to the audience why he felt his viewpoint was an important subject, and bring about his evidence in a realistic way. But honestly, he did not even touch on any evidence...at least not in the first hour, and by that time, I lost interest.
The X Files: I Want to Believe (2008)
Huge Disappointment!
I love X Files. Watched the series and first movie and the writing was spectacular! But, this movie in 2008, X Files, I Want to Believe, was a huge disappointment! First of all, I could not believe Carter was behind writing this mess. Instead of pulling Scully and Mulder together in this film to play on their "connection" and "charisma" they always shared in the past, they pulled them apart, which made the movie fall flat. The writing was terrible. My husband, my daughter, and I all watched it together and hated the movie! What really bothered me was that the entire movie was plotted around a Catholic Priest and his psychic abilities despite the fact he was a known pedophile of small boys! The writers make this sick priest out to be the hero, not Mulder or Scully. (Truly, they should have just left Mulder out of the entire picture. He was useless in the part). After the priest provides some visions that lead to the whereabouts of the killers, Mulder wants to clear the priest's name so everyone knows he is a hero. Excuse me?! What about the small boys he molested? They can be forgotten because the priest sees some visions? It was almost as though the writers were softening the subject of pedophilia and excusing the crime as just another "sin." Molesting children is not excusable. Makes me wonder about those Hollywood writers.
90 Minutes in Heaven (2015)
Awful Movie!
I read the book and it was great and powerful....but the movie was terrible! if I were Mr. Piper I would not have allowed this awful movie to represent my story. The title is about Mr. Piper going to heaven for 90 minutes, but in this movie you get a few minutes of his tale at the end of the movie...and he speaks without any emotion about it at all. Movie lacked credibility and lacked anything to do with Christ...the pastor in the movie seemed cold and without any relationship with Jesus or his family. The book was all about the pastor and how the Lord worked a miracle in his life, but the author of this movie told the story and decided to leave out anything to do with God and the pastor's relationship with Him. God was the reason Mr. Piper is still alive today...but the movie does not want to identify this main truth. Horrible acting and dead movie.
