Apex (2021)
Hilarious flop
Grandpa goes on ayahuasca trip on an island, eats some berries and kills big pharma. The end.

At one point I was feeling my brain leaving through my ears. At the same time the movie was so bad, it was hilariously entertaining. And at the same time I felt so bad for Bruce. He looks so old and tired here and in the light of his recent health news, I feel awful watching his struggle. I wish he could make one big blockbuster and retire for good.

All the bad reviews are no lie - the storyline, the acting, the camera work and cgi was like one you'd expect from a student project. I'm kinda mad this movie lives in my head now rent free.
Poor Things (2023)
Feast for the eye and mind
As an artist and fan of Emma Stone, I had to only see the poster for it to make me go watch the movie. The plot although obviously following the oh so modern now feminism wave was refreshingly served with all the quirky, raw and brutal scenes you'd like. I loved the analogy with Frankenstein and other old black and white movies and also noticed the director using some movie techniques from those times. But the colour work, oh my the colour work! That was the most fantastic thing of the whole movie for me.
I hands down recommend that movie - it was deep and shallow, it had fantasy and brutal realism, I laughed and felt deep sorrow. A true feast for the eyes and mind!
Synduality Noir (2023)
Pretty, Catchy and Cute
The anime is really pretty and catchy. It has a moderate pace and feels light-hearted. There is a good balance between action/seriousness and chill/goofiness. It's a cool PG13 anime. The graphics are pretty and all the character designs are really cute. I can't wait to see the second half of the season and learn more about the lore!
At the beginning it gave me huge Cowboy Bebop vibes, because of the setting and the characters occupations. But then I think it resembles more a mecha Cartoon Network animation. It has the classic anime "harem" trope since all the beauties have a soft spot and are gravitating towards a seemingly "normal" (futsuu) main male character. Of course he has great potential and is evolving to be a great and powerful hero. The main female character gives me big Elfen Lied vibes aka hidden murderous powers and such.
Good Omens (2019)
Brilliant!
I just sat and watched and at the end of every episode I wanted more! You've got the Terry humor going on, you've got the brilliant cast and only thing left is to sit and live the story. Compared to other adaptations where I always felt like something's amiss this one just let me enjoy the story and not compare it constantly to the authors style and my imagination.
