Mongeville (2013)
High class French mystery series - worth you time
We just found this series and are deeply impressed with the script, acting, and photography. We know the Bordeaux area well and although many episodes extend further south, east, and north, the Bordeaux roots and scenery prevail. The lieutenant in the first 3 episodes Marie Moute was dark and thoughtful, but then a new lieutenant was introduced - Gaella Bona - and the series became much more fun. Each episode shows the quality of Francis Perrin as Judge Antoine Mongeville -- a famous French actor. There is a nice blend of comedy and suspense which we love in all mysteries. If you are a Francophile you shouldn't miss this series. We consider it a high class mystery series.
Murder in Provence (2022)
Wonderful story and setting
When it comes to mysteries no one beats the British. But why only 3 episodes. Certainly they are planning many more. The 3 scenes are perfectly carried out with very eccentric characters throughout. More Please.
The Brokenwood Mysteries: Dog Day Morning (2021)
Great comedy with a good mystery
Brokenwood goes full comic mystery in this one. Terrific.
Capitaine Marleau (2014)
Bravo Corinne Masiero
Such a wonderful mystery series with great comedy interwoven. Capitaine Marleau is portrayed as a combo between Columbo and a French truck driver. A natural talent. The series moves among many charming villages in France from Alsace to the Perigord region -- never Paris or big cities. Subtitles are generally accurate.
Beecham House (2019)
A beautiful story that deserves a second season
Such a beautifully portrayed story deserves a second season. All of the actors, script and settings were perfect.
The Crown (2016)
Well done overall writing and staging. Bravo
We lived through these as many have. We even saw Diana and the entourage up close from years in London. Excellent overall EXCEPT Margaret Thatcher looked like a cartoon character. The only aspect which was right was the hair. Her face and lips were not distorted....even ugly. Google any photos of her and you will see.
